A cruise from the mouth of the Cheboygan River into Lake Huron can take you to Bois Blanc or Mackinac Islands, both a leisurely boat ride away.

The area is also home to trailheads for the North Central State Trail and Cheboygan to Alpena Trail, former railroad lines that have been converted to pedestrian use in the warmer months and snowmobile trails for the winter.

For lighthouse seekers, Cheboygan is home to two of its own, plus two more easily visible from our beautiful city beach on Lake Huron. Three more lighthouses are thirty minutes or less away, and most are open to tours. Cheboygan is also the home port of the Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw.

Cheboygan offers opportunities for fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, kayaking, hunting, and numerous other outdoor activities. For those that prefer to stay indoors, our local merchants will warmly welcome you to a variety of novelty shops, retail outlets, entertainment facilities, casual and fine dining, and much more.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We stayed during the coldest weekend of the winter (so far...). For the most part the home has everything we needed. The pull out couches are really nice to sleep on.

There is a group of ducks in the river that are great to watch! Johnny's and Mulligans down the street are good places to eat and have a beverage.

Great location, plenty of room for all the guests. Great wifi signal and Data quality.

Upstairs is really cold. Most of us slept on the floor of the living room. Would have loved to use the washer and dryer too.

Enjoyable stay, nice home, would come back for sure.

Thanks for a good weekend Kris and Mary!

Inland Waterway fun

  • 5 of 5

House was great!! Awesome location! Having the boat tied up out front was simply the best. Unit was clean and tidy. Very roomy. Is actually bigger than the pictures make it look.

Would definitely stay here again.

Good place to stay...

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed staying in Cheboygan for a few days. The deck on the back of this house with the dock on the river is definitely one of the best parts of this home. The breakfast room was so bright and sunny. We enjoyed eating there. The rooms were comfortable and the thick older walls were excellent for sound control. We could hardly tell when someone was in the shower. The house was clean as was the bedding. As an older home it has character as well as some minor inconveniences like the placement of outlets and lack of lighting in a few rooms. We did find it strange that food had been left in the fridge and that the bathroom cupboards had random, partially used toiletries in them, but the towels were of good quality and plentiful. The email that was sent to us with the house code was incorrect so we had some trouble accessing the home upon arrival. Luckily the weather wasn't too bad and we made contact with the owner fairly quickly. The home could use some updates to the carpet and rugs. The kitchen needs only to include a few basic essentials like extra paper towels and a removal of old food to make guests feel a little more comfortable. However, the rest of the living space is very comfortable. If outdoor space is what you're after or you have a boat: this is ideal!

Owner's Response: I have no idea how an incorrect code was recieved. The code I gave was the one I sent previously. Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Fabulous!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time. Beautiful view with the water and large deck. All the amenities we needed to enjoy our family and friends in Michigan. We were able to fish off the deck, bbq and be stress free. Kids loved being able to still be connected with the wifi and the smart tv. House is within walking distances to downtown area and the new bridge. Questions and concerns were answered immediately and taken care of. Can't wait to come back and visit.

Very pleased with the place.

Members of our family stayed together there and prepared an anniversary party for us. They liked the convenience of being close by and the fully equipped house in which they could finalize the plans.

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

The house was as described, except for the grill. There was plenty of room for 3 couples to stay. The deck was the best part of the house. We had our coffee each morning on the deck and watched the boats go by. The fishing off the deck was excellent. We used the dock for our boat and had quick access to Lake Huron. We had to go through the boat lock to access Indian River, which was a cool experience. I would recommend staying at the property.
