We bought this home several years before retirement in Arizona. We love coming here with wraparound deck and large yard next to the National Forest. We have three grandchildren in Bend/Sisters that we enjoy spending time with when we are in Oregon.
Bobbi McGinn purchased this house in 2002
We visited this area many times enjoying winter sports and wonderful summers before deciding to purchase. We have many wonderful friends and family living nearby.
Being in Tollgate means we have easy access to so many amenities without the upkeep.
The house was great. We felt very much at home and had no issues with anything not working or being broken down. The beds were VERY comfy so we slept like babes. The deck was impressive and although we didn't spend time on it because it was a bit chilly, it was in great shape and summers would be great out there. The yard was nicely kept up and we were graced by deer a few mornings. Overall, this is a great place to stay. Price is right. Owners answer emails almost instantly. I'd give it a 5 star
A quiet weekend, skiing at Hoodoo, walking the dogs on Tollgate paths, eating at Sno Cap!! Comfy house, like being at a relatives, not a rental. The fire was amazing! Thanks so much for providing wood as it was 9-10 degrees at night! Thank you for sharing your home with us!
The Stetson house was just what we hoped for. Great location, very comfortable furnishings, well-stocked kitchen and cozy woodstove. We would definitely stay here again!
We spent 4 nights at this comfortable home in the Tollgate subdivision outside Sisters, OR. We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner prepared in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoyed walks around the subdivision in the snow that had fallen right before our arrival. The house is very conveniently situated but also private, with large windows looking out on a large wooded area. There are three good-sized bedrooms, a large dining table where we played games, and a big living room where we enjoyed watching some football and recent DVD's. Sisters is a charming town; we also drove down to Bend and enjoyed some wonderful shops and a delicious dinner at Wild Rose, a Thai restaurant. One of the days we ventured up to Mt. Batchelor and tried some cross-country skiing again for the first time in many years.
I'd strongly recommend this rental for many reasons: the owner's quick responsiveness, the comfort and convenience of the home, the proximity of Sisters and Bend, and the beauty of the area.
Our party of five adults and two children enjoyed the wood stove warmth of the living/dining space after a long day of cold hiking. We appreciated the trails throughout the neighborhood and of course, proximity to the abundant natural beauty in the area. The owner was responsive and reasonable, and we appreciated her fast replies. The only drawback for us was the worn non-stick cookware. Thankfully, we found some old, but perfectly functional pots and pans in the cupboard to use. We would stay here again without hesitation and also recommend to friends.
We have stayed at this house for quilt week 3 years and we keep coming back! It is a great location, comfortable and convenient, clean and well equipped. We love sitting on the deck, sipping wine, dodging the hummingbirds, and watching the rest of the wildlife. Overall, a great vacation house.
Lots of deer and birds in this area make wonderful wildlife watching.
