About Jennifer Behringer
We live in central NC and travel frequently up and down the East Coast. Kiawah Island is one of our favorite stops - the reason we have a house there.
Jennifer Behringer purchased this Villa in 2011
Why Jennifer Behringer chose West Beach
Kiawah Island has a beauty all its own. The first time my family and I visited we fell in love. It was like being in your own magical island, yet only 30 minutes from downtown Charleston. When you drive down Kiawah Island Parkway, it is hard to believe that this island is a beach resort, not just a maritime forest. I think Kiawah provides an atmosphere of relaxation that is extremely rare these days. The natural beauty on the peaceful 10 miles of private beach, the 25+ miles of bike trails, fishing, top notch dining options, tennis, golf, and abundant activities called us to make Kiawah our second home. So, come and enjoy our southern hospitality and relax a while on Kiawah Island.
What makes this Villa unique
Twisted Oaks, as we lovingly call our villa, is located steps from the beach. Kiawah Island beach was ranked in the top ten beaches of 2016 by Dr. Beach. The beach, golf, tennis, biking, walking, fishing, boating, food, and natural beauty of Kiawah Island make it a unique vacation destination to which no other place can compare. Our villa is located in the epicenter of it all. Once we arrive we don't move the car until it is time to go home, because we enjoy riding our bike or walking everywhere we like to go. When we do leave, we always make sure to have plans to return before we drive off the island.

Charming, comfortable, and close to the beach. Had a wonderful stay.
This is a lovely place to stay!
The villa is nicely decorated, spacious, and quiet. We slept great on the very comfortable king sized bed and loved waking up to see the beautiful trees outside. Also really enjoyed sitting on the back porch. It's a very short walk to the beach and the beach is fantastic! Jennifer gave us great tips about Kiawah in her instructions and I was really impressed that she sent an email to check in on our first day. I would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay and Jennifer was responsive to all our concerns. Week started with a hurricane evacuation but the weather cleared and we had a wonderful stay. Jennifer extended our rental one day to accommodate for the hurricane loss. We did have our 18 month old grandson with us. He enjoyed Night Heron Park and the gentle ocean waves. Only negative was lack of pool and or tidal pool for him to play in.
We had a reservation for two nights at this villa. We had mandatory evacuation from SC Governor due to Hurricane Florence for our second day and night stay. We contacted the owner about a refund for the second night and she responded, "sadly we do not give refunds for Hurricanes." She did not even offer to give us an another nights stay at a future date. We were so disappointed as my cousin came from Colorado to spend some time at the beach. These were circumstances that were out of our control, the owner even said "you need to leave." Of course, we would never again rent from this individual. We thought the unit would have water view and easy access to the beach but there was no view and the boardwalk was under construction so we had to go a longer route to get to the beach. The unit was clean but dated. The bedroom TV was 13 inches and we could hardly see the screen. The beach chairs she "supplied" were old and rusted. No beach towels are supplied so bring your own! BTW there was a giant spider on a huge web blocking our path to the room, owner could not control that but it was creepy! Another large spider greeted us on the balcony and ran into the unit under the couch. Be prepared!
I am disappointed in your review of our home. I think there are a few details that you left out. Your original stay was moved up at your request due to the possibility of Hurricane Florence impacting the SC coast. I was happy to work with you to change the dates of your stay. We changed them to September 10th to the 12th per your request.
On September 11th a mandatory evacuation order was put in place for Kiawah Island and the surrounding areas by the governor of SC. I touched base with you and let you know that you would need to leave for your safety.
When you book a vacation through HomeAway you have to choose to get trip insurance. It was your choice whether or not to purchase trip insurance. In the rental contract you signed, it was stated that refunds are not given for Hurricanes. It also encourages you to purchase trip insurance. You were fully aware of the conditions of your stay. And for your safety you were asked to leave by the governor of SC.
I am disappointed that you feel the need to slander me and my home. There is nothing wrong with the beach chairs provided and it is stated in the rental contract to pack your own beach towels. We do have an exterminator that treats our home regularly for pests.
To our future guests, please contact me if you have any concerns about this review.
Great value and location!
Good beach trip. Had everything we needed for our family. Jennifer was great!
Great vacation spot!
We had a lovely week at Twisted Oaks! Due to upgrades in West Beach, the boardwalk and local shop was closed, but it was still a very quick walk to the beach. Freshfields Village is a must-visit! The unit was spotless when we arrived, and I really appreciated that things like a dish sponge, dish soap, paper towels, beach chairs, and some toys were already included so we didn't need to pack them. The coded entry was also great - no need to worry about losing keys. Jennifer was a very conscientious and helpful hostess. We are definitely planning to return to Kiawah Island next year.
Decent unit, but...
Unit was laid out well with decent seating. Issue was the TINY TV sets --- too small in living area; ridiculously small in Master BR. You literally could not see it from the bed.
Beds were not comfortable -- maybe a 3 of 10.
Rates do not include cleaning fee of $120. During the summer season we only rent Saturday to Saturday. We do offer mini vacations in the off season.
