May 2016 Stay

  • 2 of 5

The location of this unit is awesome. The water in front of the house is stuffed with turtles and tropical fish . Actually saw more from our sea wall than I did snorkeling up north.

The not so awesome... :o(

This place is a real mixed bag of good and bad.

Bedroom furniture is good but walls are void of any artwork.

Bedroom door sticks tight.

No laundry soap for washer.

Kitchen has new counter tops great dishes and glassware.

Very limited cooking utensils .

Cabinets literally came off in my hand. Drawers are weird and don't open or close easily.

No sponge or kitchen cleaning supplies . Half roll of paper towels no spares.

Lanai lights need a working switch. screen door comes off its track regularly. Sprinklers flood the lanai every morning.

Rundown and in dire need of upgrading

  • 1 of 5

This was our 2nd stay at Puamana and we spent considerably more money this trip hoping for decent accommodations as our last stay was substandard. We were sadly disappointed in the condition of this unit. The view was spectacular but the unit was barely acceptable as far as cleanliness and functionality. The fans in both the bedroom and living area did not work properly and the sliding glass door in the bedroom would not open, thus the unit was very hot and we could not stand to be in the unit. There was only one wine glass, 2 water glasses and minimal silverware when we arrived. The unit was not very clean and a coat of dust was evident on all ledges, fan paddles, and surfaces. We had to pull out the drawers of the bedroom dresser to remove particles and dust them out before we could put our clothes in them. Ants were climbing up the wall in the kitchen and both bathrooms (we went through a full can of Raid during our stay). After 2 calls to maintenance a repairman came and fixed the fans and the bedroom slider and brought us some more glasses. If he had not been so responsive we would not have been able to stay. A few days into our stay, while we were asleep, a 2-inch cockroach crawled across my wife in the middle of the night causing us to jump up and scramble around the room to kill it. The next night a cockroach crawled up my hand to my face causing us to again jump up and repeat the previous night's scramble. It took 2 days before Terminex came out to spray the exterior of the unit. That was it! After 2 bad experiences at Puamana, we will never be returning!

Owner's Response: We apologize for the difficulties you experienced during your stay. I checked the home when we received this review and found the fans in the living room and bedroom working fine; off on switches worked and the speeds adjust from high to low. The AC in the bedroom is also working and the sliding glass door in the bedroom is working it locks and slides easily. Occasionally guests visit as a group and gather at one townhome taking glassware and dishware to a party without returning them thus if the cleaners don’t catch the shortage we restock as soon as possible. I discussed the cleaning issue with the cleaning company they apologized and wish they had known right away to return and take care of any concerns. Regarding the cock roach’s we have all our properties serviced quarterly by Terminix. 95% of the time they respond within 24 hours. When I called they also apologized explaining it was a scheduling issue as one of the employees was sick. In Hawaii there are roaches in the fields that fly entering any home, condo or hotel thus it’s not possible to completely eliminate them. Spraying inside and outside perimeters stops them as they walk over the treated areas however the cleaning of floors removes the application over time thus the quarterly service. It’s unfortunate you didn’t have a five star experience. The only advice I can give to whoever is reading this review is to call our office the day of arrival if you have concerns with cleaning or repairs. We look forward to promptly being of service. This is not the Ritz Carlton it’s an awesome oceanfront bungalow within 20 feet of the ocean, a WOW location all about beautiful views, sunsets, stars and living on the water! Amazing whale watching and right on the ocean

  • 5 of 5

My family of four stayed at this unit over spring break. The unit sits about 20 feet from the shore, and the views of the Island of Lanai and the Lahaina marina are amazing. The unit has a large lanai with a table for four and a few lounge chairs. We basically spent all of our time on this lanai. While the unit has a table and four chairs inside, we ate most of our meals on the porch. I was able to watch multiple whales breach while I sipped my coffee every morning. I actually saw more whales from the lanai than I did on the whale watching boat trip we took.

We spent our days walking into the Lahaina shopping district, visiting local beaches, and exploring the island. When we returned home in the evening, I would grab a book and watch the sunset from the comfort of one of the lounge chairs on the lanai. The unit has an A/C unit, but we never used it. We preferred to open the windows and allow the sound of the waves to lull us to sleep at night.

Our kids slept on the fold-out sofa. It seemed new and I believe it is queen sized. Our kids have slept on several fold-out sofas during our travels and they thought this one was one of the best. There is a hall closet to store the living room guest's luggage out of sight, and a full sized closet in the master bathroom. This unit has two full bathrooms which was a nice bonus when trying to get four people ready each day. The kitchen is nice and the unit has a washer and dryer (which is helpful when travelling with kids).

We have stayed at other units in Puamana, and while some of them had more bedrooms, this unit is one of the closest to the ocean and frankly, our desire to be by the ocean is why we go to Hawaii. So, as long as our kids are willing to sleep on a fold-out, we would definitely return to this unit.

You absolutely cannot beat this view.

This trip was just me and my fiancé and we had a blast! The condo has its own more private gated parking, it's RIGHT on the ocean and right down the street from the town. We did a lot of fishing off the back porch and had a turtle that liked to stay pretty close by. The view was amazing and we can't wait to go back!

Management: only thing we needed that wasn't provided was a can opener, but we managed :)

Wonderful stay and the views are spectacular

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful property literally on the west shore of Lahaina. The property is steps from the ocean. The ocean view is directly west and Lanai is in the background, with the Lahaina Harbor ships and Molokai to the north. The colorful sunsets are spectacular.

The first night took some getting used to the roar of the ocean, but the following nights we must have gotten used to the waves and came to appreciate them as they put us to sleep.

This unit location on the north side of the Puamana property and is very quiet with a feel of seclusion. There is an adult pool located on the ocean as well and offers a beautiful panoramic view of Lanai and Lahaina Harbor while sunning and swimming.

This unit has one bedroom and a sleeper couch. We had four in our group and we stayed for a week. Due to the size of our crew, we had to be mindful of keeping our gear packed up and out of the way. We spent our mornings on the porch / lanai enjoying daybreak and coffee and the views, and did our island sightseeing during the day, so we did not spend the majority of our time in the unit.

As for the proximity to Lahaina and all the shops and restaurants, we enjoyed our walks into town – they made us feel like a part of the local community. We recommend this unit and will stay there again. Thank you.

Spectacular Oceanfront setting 20 feet from the water

  • 5 of 5

Aloha, I am the manager for this property and am shocked that this guest didn't highlight the special features about this property or contact us to repair the AC before slamming this beautiful property.

We have had dozens up guests enjoy this property since starting management last year. The furnishings are all new, the kitchen and baths are both updated. We have checked the AC and secured it to prevent any further vibration. Its a fabulous oceanfront setting with spectacular sunsets year round, views of the Lahaina Harbor, very private and quiet. If you coming to Hawaii to be cold best change your plans. Lahaina offers year round sunshine you will need to get your bathing suit on, buy a pair of slippers, sun glasses, sunscreen and jump in the ocean or any of Puamana's three pools during the hottest times of the day.
