This ultra comfortable 1000 square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom, fully air-conditioned apartment is both modern (in terms of the comfort it affords) and charming in an old-fashioned way. It accommodates 4 and is on a quiet street (in a nice neighborhood) just a stone's throw from Dhakuria Lake, the "lungs of South Calcutta."
Getting around is easy with access to all modes of transportation. Bus stops and taxi stands are within a few minutes of walk. The nearest Metro station (Rabindra Sarobar) is a 10-minute rickshaw ride away (the Metro connecting the airport to the southern-most part of the city). The two major railway stations, Sealdah and Howrah, are between 30 and 60 minutes from the apartment, depending on the time of day/night and traffic.
Restaurants, grocery shops, pharmacies, convenience stores, confectioneries and take-away joints abound in the neighborhood. Also within a stone's throw (5-7 minutes' walk away) is South City, a posh shopping mall (arguably Calcutta's most sought-after) with high-end restaurants and multiplex.
The apartment is furnished with mid-century Burma-teak furniture, exuding the sort of understated sophistication Calcutta households were once famous for. To ensure comfort during the summer months, there are three air-conditioners in the apartment -- one 2 ton split in the living room and two 1.5 ton window air-conditioners in the bedrooms. Also provided are unrestricted Wi-Fi connection and access to cable television. Fresh towels and bed linen are provided free of cost, and laundry services can be provided on request (for a small amount). The kitchen is fully equipped and is stocked with staples such as tea, coffee, milk, butter, bread, eggs and basic condiments (salt, sugar, pepper, etc).
You are welcome to use the apartment and everything in it as your own (provided you treat it with as much care as you treat your own property). You will have free access to everything from kitchen appliances/utensils to hairdryer and Wi-Fi. There is even a parking area in case you fancy using a car.

Super apartment in a pleasant, tree-lined street but very close to a good shopping centre and easy shared-rickshaw connection for the underground into the city. Friendly neighbours both in the apartment block and in the surrounding area add to the charm. Sayanti's description is very accurate and both she and her father are very helpful. Kolkata is an interesting city but returning to an oasis of calm at the end of a each day is a real bonus.
I stayed here for three weeks in February/March 2016. The flat is in a nice location, about 15 minutes walk from Rabindra Sarovar metro station, about 10 minutes from the lakes, and about 10-15 minutes walk from South City mall. There are lots of places to find food in the area, especially around Lord's More, and taxis/buses are easy to find nearby. The flat is on the 4th floor and looks out over the rooftops of Lake Gardens. There's a lovely balcony I spent a lot of time on, watching the world go by. Inside the flat the rooms are a nice size- master bedroom (with balcony) having a king bed, second bedroom having two twin beds, and each having it's own bathroom with hot water for shower. There's a sitting room, office, and dining area in an open space with plenty of room. The kitchen is small but generally has everything one needs for cooking. A negative is that there's no microwave for reheating meals (and I would strongly encourage Sayanti or her dad to get one-maybe put it on top of the fridge?) The only other negative is that there's no laundry, so you have to wash clothes by hand, but I was able to do this without much problem and there's a clothesline on the balcony for drying. Sayanti was in Mumbai during my visit but her dad was available whenever I needed and rapidly responded to messages. Overall I was very pleased with my stay and would definitely stay here again my next time in Kolkata.
Home away from home, the place is very close to good restaurants and a great shopping mall: The family are very hands on without been in your face. What ever you need or even a question regarding anything, they are always there to help with an instant email. I found the place safe and secure with everything that I needed. Don't waste your time with other apartments on this site in Kolkata, they are all dirty and over priced. This place was clean and simply perfect, would I go back to this place??
absolutely I would NOT go anywhere else.
Thanks to Sayanti and her dad, you made my stay perfect. xxx
