About Stuart Tabman

My wife and I have lived in Florida for the past 20 years. We started visiting the mountains of North Carolina in the early 90’s and fell in love with the area. We got hooked on river rafting the local rivers and hiking the endless trails. Thus began a search for the perfect property. We wanted enough acreage to have privacy and seclusion, a spectacular view and yet still be close enough to all the action and adventure. We found Eagles Nest in 2000 and that was it we fell in love.

One of our greatest joys is to read the comments about the special vacations and memories people have created at the cabin. Whether it’s a romantic vacation, an anniversary, a family vacation or friends having fun our customers have experienced it all. The peaceful surroundings make Eagles Nest a great place to just talk and reconnect. As one customer wrote “We found the time to have long talks and to talk about nothing! It's as if the view inspired us”.

We hope you enjoy all the area has to offer and keep coming back for new adventures in the mountains.

Why Stuart Tabman chose Murphy

We bought in the Murphy area for several reasons. Number one we were able to find the prefect dream spot for our vacations. With total privacy, seclusion and no neighbors we are able to escape our once busy corporate lives and the hectic pace of Florida. Murphy offers that quaint small town feel with little stores, restaurants and cafes, Plus the people are all so friendly. Seems like just about anyone you meet wants to chat for awhile so we had to get used to not rushing about as we were so used to in our regular daily lives. Most of all we love the outdoor activities the area has to offer whether it's a picnic at beautiful Fires Creek, a walk on a trail, rafting a river, a pontoon boat ride on a local lake or mountain biking at Jack Rabbit the area has it all

Amazing view and seclusion. The deck and hot tub! Fully equipped kitchen. Decor was fantastic. Pool table, selection of board games, CDs, DVDs, books, indoor outdoor speakers for music. Close to TN and GA border. A wonderful retreat to get away.

Rain or Shine - the perfect weekend

  • 5 of 5

When your friends are your family, you take weekend trips together. My "framily," consisting of 3 couples, spent a long weekend at the Eagles Nest Hideaway. It rained or was overcast and chilly the entire May weekend, but despite the dreariness outside, we had a fantastic time. The location is so quiet and serene, you can't help but relax especially with the incredible mountain views.

As the owner suggested, we picked up the groceries we needed for the weekend on the way and never had to leave the house. In the fully stocked (pots/pans/utensils) kitchen, we were able to prepare a Cinco de Mayo fiesta as well a country breakfast. In between rain showers, we used the big outdoor grill for a burger/brat feast and then derby-day steaks. The propane ran out during the first grill-out, but there was a spare full tank ready to hook up. A variety of spices have been left by previous renters in case you forget anything.

The house was wonderful! It is incredibly spacious and comfortable. The three bedrooms are separated enough for privacy and each have their own full bathroom (whether attached or next door). The recliner couches and the 6-person dining table were perfect for our group; we would have loved to eat outside on the beautiful upper deck, but the rain prevented that. We were able to watch the Kentucky Derby on the large flat-screen TV with no trouble.

As previously stated, we had no need to leave the house so we spent the weekend playing board games, hanging out in the hot tub (fit 6 people very comfortably), and playing pool on the lower level of the house. We also brought a corn hole set and the lower porch was an ideal place to play, even when it was raining (slight dripping from the upper deck didn't bother us).

The owner was very responsive to emails and even called to check on us after hearing there were some thunderstorms/winds and power outages in the area. We did lose power our first evening for a couple hours, but since it was still daylight, we spent that time playing corn hole outside.

The high efficiency washer-dryer was great to ensure we had clean towels since we were using bath towels after the hot tub. Next time we will definitely remember to bring extra beach towels for drying off post-hot tub.

Honestly, I cannot brag enough about this house and the owner. We definitely look forward to another weekend at the Eagles Nest Hideaway.

One week is not enough!

  • 5 of 5

The Eagles' Nest Hideaway is a beautifully kept home - lots of space to spread out and gorgeous views no matter the weather. We had a few issues but called Stuart and he was prompt to respond and did his best to resolve them. The kitchen is stocked with most everything you could want for cooking; the beds are comfortable; the place was clean; and Stuart provides you with all the info you need to make your stay easy and delightful. The biggest problem we had was my party wanted to go and do things all the time and I wanted to stay at the Hideaway and just relax and enjoy the solitude and the view.

We enjoyed Fires Creek and the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, did the Lake Walk in Murphy, spent a day in Atlanta (about 2 hours away), and another day at Biltmore Mansion (also 2 hours away). They guys rented mountain bikes and the ladies went horseback riding (Chunky Gal Stables), and I spent one glorious day relaxing at the Hideaway while my go-getters went to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park for some more hiking and waterfall viewing.

We had perfect weather - only rained at night or for a few brief moments on one hike. We had fun watching an evening thunderstorm roll over the mountains.

One week is not enough!
