Lake Zirahuen 'El Alto Lucero' (the High Bright Star)

Bedrooms 2
Space sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

THE BEST SIDE OF THE LAKE.- El 'Alto Lucero' is a new house located exactly where you want to be, up high on the west side of Lake Zirahuen in a tiny and quiet community called Copandaro de Zirahuen. The highest and most panoramic view to the lake. Real peace and quiet are among our great assets in this lovely rural area, of course the view is unparalleled.

A beautiful pink paving stone and cobblestone road shaded by trees connects this slice of paradise in a 9 minute pleasant drive to Zirahuen town. Nevertheless, we have some small convenient stores 'tienditas' in the area.

Also on this side of the lake, 'La Troje de Ala', one of the best restaurants around the Lake with a pier and row boats for rent. 'Miralago' is another great restaurant where you can enjoy an international menu.

Also happily located a few yards away, at a walking distance is 'Agua Verde', an ecological center of recreation and fun surrounded by trees. You can take a boat, ride a bike, ride a horse, play 'gotcha' and fly over the lake suspended in the air (Zip Line). Great place to have lunch and drinks after enjoying a few hours of adventure. Note: The restaurants and ' Agua Verde', are open only during Weekends and Holidays.

All in all, 'El Alto Lucero', is the greatest place in the area! ...oh, and please, do not forget to visit our website. Look for the links that appear bellow on this page!

About Alejandra Terroba

Hi, my name is Alejandra and my husband´s name is Enrique, we both are from Mexico City. We used to be in the advertising business but 10 years ago we decided to run away from all the noise and stress of the big city. First we lived in Patzcuaro and lately we had the greatest opportunity in our lives to move to Lake Zirahuen, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. We just finished building this new casita for rent which is near ours. We both speak English and are ready to welcome people interested in sharing this slice of paradise with us.

Alejandra Terroba purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Alejandra Terroba chose Michoacan

Being lake Zirahuen one of the most beautiful lakes in Mexico, we decided to sell our house in Patzcuaro and relocate in this magnificent area: It is quiet, gorgeous, not polluted. The water is a show that constantly renews itself. Local people are friendly and we are near the greatest colonial cities that have all the amenities, activities and services that you can find in big cities. Patzcuaro, Morelia, Uruapan, Santa Clara del Cobre just to mention a few.

What makes this cottage unique

The greatest view to the lake, real peace and quiet, clean air, lots of trees. Among other things, you can exercise riding a bike around the lake or hiking on the beautiful trails that abound near by. By the way.... did we mention that we have the greatest view to the lake???

Real peace and quiet , 125 yards away from the street, Great shower pressure, Mosquito screens in every window, Inter phone system with screen monitor, big, beautiful and shady avocado trees and Holm oaks, The place is safe for cats and dogs. Plenty of space for them to play and run but hard for them to escape from the property. A REAL PANORAMIC VIEW TO THE LAKE!

Excellent stay, clean, panoramic view of lake, peaceful and out of the way from tourist traps. The home had an excellent fireplace, well equipped kitchen, decent internet wifi and router, washer/dryer, and excellent trails around the lake. The home is gated and there are various outdoor activities near by. Car is a must as the residence is on the other side of the town. I would probably seek out to see if there is a private website for this residence because $123 was pulled from VRBO on commission.

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Charmiing, well-loved place overlooking the lake.

We could not have asked for a more perfect location on Lake Zirahuen right on the lake. We were treated to the most spectacular lightning show across the lake toward the mountains, lighting up the lake as though Greek God Zeuss was conducting the show himself! Our hosts could not have been more caring, considerate and paid attention to every little detail both before and during our stay.

We had compared other places to stay at the lake and by far preferred this one. We had the opportunity to check out another place close by that friends of ours were staying in and theirs did not come close to El Alto Lucero. The other place being dirty and beyond rustic, lacked almost every utensil, cookware, or appliance a kitchen would need for even a short stay and their community center was a joke. Needless to say, we were so thrilled with ours that we plan a return trip soon.

Relaxing, beautiful, peaceful, serene! This little space has been prepared for you to come and live as though you are home, down to the very sharp knives! The views and the morning sun greet you daily, and the Zirahuén lights sparkle during the night. Friendly people and welcoming hosts make for a feeling of security and pleasure. Not far away are some wonderful towns for shopping, the beach and Mexico City! It's a great base camp for lots of day trips and short overnight adventures. You won't be disappointed!

Amazing views of a beautiful, tranquil lake!

  • 5 of 5

It was so relaxing at El Alto Lucero that it was hard to leave to visit the surrounding area. When we did, we had a great time at Patzcuaro and Santa Clara del Cobre. We also spent much of our time by the lake fishing(bring your own poles) and rented kayaks. Many times we had the lake to ourselves. Alejandra and Enrique were wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome. They enjoy sharing their paradise with others. The area is rural which we enjoyed very much. The house is very comfortable and well maintained. You can see by the pictures the charm and beauty but we recommend renting it and seeing it firsthand! We look forward to returning soon!
