Quiet and comfy house on the hill

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for a couple of nights to celebrate our anniversary in Cambria. The house is nustled on the hillside and offers a nice view of the beach from the upstairs bedroom windows. The beds were comfy and everything was in clean, working order when we arrived. The outdoor spa is especially nice and private. The village is located just down the hill and we saw a few deer and other local wildlife over the course of our stay. On that note, our only complaint about the property is about the big tree that overlooks the walkway leading from the driveway to the house. The tree is home to a family of turkey vultures, who aren't a nuisance themselves, but we noticed that the walkway was littered with their droppings/urine and there was a strong foul odor every time we walked by. This same area is not very well lit and there are some cactus plants along the walkway that could be a hazard if someone were to trip on the stairs. Aside from that, we found it to be a really charming and peaceful place to get away for a weekend. Would definitely consider staying here again next time we visit the area.

Owner's Response: Hi....I can't take the tree down and nothing we have tried convince those turkey buzzards to go sleep som where else...but we can and will get the ate a power washed for the smell and droppings...and maybe there is a burned out light that needs replacing...shouldnt be dark there. Thanks so much for letting me know and glad you enjoyed the house. .

Unique home

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here for a month. It is not suitable for people with mobility problems since the front door is 40 steps down from street level. It has great views especially from the master bedroom. It could use some TLC and carpet cleaning but overall we were very happy with this place.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay - the carpeting was only two years old, but we have had tenants who split wine and then those with well trained dogs who evidently had slip ups... so we just last week pulled out the carpeting in the main area and replaced with premium wood looking flooring - which should take care of the carpet stains. We keep working to improve the house and make it a special place for our guests!

Beautiful place. It really has that coastal California feel that is hard to come by as a visitor.

Great Location in Cambria

  • 4 of 5

This is indeed a romantic location in Cambria. We were there for our 40th wedding anniversary and loved the huge skylight in the bedroom, the hot tub and the ample room to have our own private spaces. Enjoyed walking down the hill to the Main street and feeling like a local at Cambria Coffee. Beach acess is by car, but an easy short drive. The neighborhood is quiet (except for the wild turkeys first thing in the morning.) The house has an interesting design with many levels (there are lots of steps inside and out.) Although the house shows some age, the newer kitchen and bathrooms were greatly appreciated. It was very helpful to be able to do some laundry. It did bother my sense of design that the dining room table and chairs were Early American Country style and that just did not fit the rest of the house for me. My only other negative was that the carpet and windows could use some cleaning. Over all our host was very responsive and we loved our stay in Cambria.
