Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful place. It really has that coastal California feel that is hard to come by as a visitor.

Great Location in Cambria

  • 4 of 5

This is indeed a romantic location in Cambria. We were there for our 40th wedding anniversary and loved the huge skylight in the bedroom, the hot tub and the ample room to have our own private spaces. Enjoyed walking down the hill to the Main street and feeling like a local at Cambria Coffee. Beach acess is by car, but an easy short drive. The neighborhood is quiet (except for the wild turkeys first thing in the morning.) The house has an interesting design with many levels (there are lots of steps inside and out.) Although the house shows some age, the newer kitchen and bathrooms were greatly appreciated. It was very helpful to be able to do some laundry. It did bother my sense of design that the dining room table and chairs were Early American Country style and that just did not fit the rest of the house for me. My only other negative was that the carpet and windows could use some cleaning. Over all our host was very responsive and we loved our stay in Cambria.

Lovely, but Disappointing

  • 3 of 5

To be clear, this house is beautiful. The photos here really don't do it justice. The views are gorgeous, and the home itself is unique and fun. But unfortunately, I have to say that our stay was disappointing. We arrived after dark, and there were no lights on outside. This wouldn't be terrible, except that the house is situated on a hill, and there are many winding steps to get to the main entrance. Not easy in the dark! Once inside, it was disappointing to see that the house had clearly not been cleaned since the last guest. There was trash in the bins, takeout containers of old food in the fridge, and dirty dishes in the sink. The washer and dryer were both full, with a pile of soiled linens on top, and the master bedroom had clearly been slept in without anything being changed. We had come for a weekend away, and found ourselves needing to do more housework!

Everything else was lovely. The jetted tub in the master bath was wonderful, though, it should be mentioned that the control for the jets is along the wall. It's not terrible, but it does require you to get out of the tub to turn the jets on when they time out. It's kind of strange.

Anyway, as I said, this is a gorgeous house. I'm sure this was a one-off, and it's unusual. We brought it to the attention of the owners. Although they have not responded, I will be optimistic and hope that it won't happen again.

It was cool place, but needed better care

  • 2 of 5

The location was good, but the house seemed a bit run down. The hot tub chemicals were off, there was brown foam floating on the top of the water, and didn't smell clean. We didn't use the hot tub. The towels and bath robes were in the washing machine, so we had to run them through the dryer ourselves. The master bed was comfortable, but all the rest were not. The extra guests fee seemed high as well. The house was rated for 6 people, but the rental rate is for 4 people. We had to pay an extra fee for the 2 extra guests. The owners were responsive and polite.

Spectacular home with incredible views of the ocean!!!

  • 5 of 5

This home has so much to offer! We came here to celebrate our anniversary, very romantic! The house is very eclectic, with many areas to relax and just enjoy the peaceful, easy felling! I loved looking up at the ceiling in the master bedroom and seeing stars, yes, STARS! The architect did not miss a beat, a window in the ceiling!!! We loved coming home each evening around 4:00 to pour a glass of wine we purchased at the tasting rooms in town, prepare some appetizers and sit out in the sun room and watch the beautiful sunset, absolutely stunning! Cambria is such a charming town with so much to offer, not to mention all of the wonderful people! I really can't begin to describe the feeling of being here! It was great to see deer and raccoons, just don't see that in Las Vegas! Great to be away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, very magical!!!

Wonderful place with spectacular views!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful place with spectacular views! Views of the ocean, downtown and the hills. The home is eccentric with great accommodations. Word to the wise, watch out when walking down the steps as the above tree has MANY vultures in it close the the evening time. But they keep to themselves. :)
