Our visit to Rome was memorable and David's little hideaway went a long way to make it that way. David was there to greet us when we arrived, taking us by the hand and leading us through the apartment's idiosyncrasies. It is pretty much as he describes it, small but well furnished and efficient, its high ceilings adding to a feeling of roominess ... and the bathroom, well, it's bigger than the rest of the apartment combined and if you like hot tubs you're in for a treat.
The apartment is below street level, leading down to a generous sized patio populated with a small forest of plants. It's airy and spacious and private, all at the same time. My wife and I found it a lovely place to enjoy coffee in the morning and a bottle of wine in the evening. The neighborhood is residential, high rise apartments all with their own terraces tower over the streets. A short walk leads to a thriving little business district with a fruit and vegetable market on one corner and a grocery story on the other and several small stores in between, including a mini-market specializing in a variety of cheeses. I think I made a few friends among the merchants who Impressed me with their patience and kindness as they dealt with the dumb American who couldn't even count his change.
The apartment is only a short stroll to the tram stop, which is a short ride to the train station. Once you get the hang of the transportation system getting around in Rome is pretty simple. I would suggest that if you're planning to stay for more than a week that you buy a 7-day metrobus ticket. It gives you access to trams, buses, trains and the metro (subway). We found it a good deal.
Our visit just happened to coincide with the last Sunday of the month, when access to the Vatican museum, including the Sistine Chapel, is free, and the first Sunday of the month, when access to sites like the Colosseum and Palatine hill, also are free.
It was a glorious and breathtaking visit and David was a kind and gracious host, quick to respond to any inquiry or concern. He's a classy guy. Oh, and the Wi-fi is lightning fast. Thanks again, David.
Stayed here for 4 nights, and would happily stay longer. David was a very welcoming host, leaving a lovely bottle of wine and sweets for us on arrival, and showing us how everything works. The apartment was even better than the pictures, and it had everything we needed. Location was amazing, and on our next trip to Rome, we will definitely be staying here again. Thank you for your hospitality David, it made my boyfriends birthday trip unforgettable.
Our stay at David's place was perfect. Good location, good apartment and a great host. The instructions to get there led us straight to the apartment and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine and detailed instructions about the apartment. The apartment is like in the pictures,- clean, everything you need in the kitchen, quiet neighborhood and of course a great jacuzzi. With the tram close by, it was easy to get to the historical center of Rome as well as the best restaurants in the Trastevere district. Me and my son had a great stay at David's place and can only recommend it to everyone else. Odd Einar & Sondre
David was a great host! He welcomed us with detailed instructions for the apartment and very good directions to get us anywhere in the city. The apartment was as promised and the jacuzzi was perfect after a long day walking.
It was great !!! David ist the best host ever and explained us everything. Jacuzzi is wonderfull !!!! It is very easy to get from this flat anywhere in Rom !!! We recomend this place very, very much :) Best regards Kris and Deborah
David was very helpful and welcoming. He gave us a thorough explanation of how everything worked in his apartment and we had no problems. The apartment is in a great location in between Trastevere and central Rome with regular transport links. Prior to our arrival David sent me in depth directions of how to get to his apartment from the airport and gave us recommendations of places to eat, pharmacy's etc in the area & details of how to get to some of the main attractions. Very friendly guy & the jacuzzi bath was lovely.
Walking distance to TRASTEVERE STATION where the train from/to FIUMICINO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT stops ( ticket to airport costs €8.5 Euros).
The apartment is located in a silent and quiet street , friendly and Safe neighbourhood with lots of restaurants and shopping in area.
Quick and easy train connection to Muratella WFP and FAO headquarters. Good bus and tram service. By tram line N.8 (150 mt from the apartment ) you will reach Trastevere district in 10 minutes and the Historic Center (Largo di Torre Argentina/Piazza Navona/Pantheon/Campo de Fiori) in 15 minutes. Bus line H takes you to Termini station in 30 minutes (where the shuttle from/to CIAMPINO airport stops).
