Stunning mid-century modern retreat in East Tucson.
This home designed and built in 1959 by noted Tucson modernist Tom Gist features beautiful burnt adobe masonry, walls of glass, incredible wood paneling and cabinetry, and a stunning kitchen. The home is listed on the National Register for Historic Places.
This residence has been maintained by previous and current owners in immaculate condition and is furnished with authentic mid-century furnishings, including Heywood-Wakefield bedroom and dining room sets.
The beautifully-landscaped patio has views of the Catalina mountains along with a large heated private pool. Even in the city, Gambel's quail, mourning doves, hummingbirds, and cottontail rabbits share the grounds. This home is a perfect base for exploring the city and the surrounding Sonoran desert.
The home sleeps six, with two full-sized beds in separate bedrooms, along with two twin beds in a third bedroom. A study/office workspace with wireless internet is also available. Bathrooms have original cabinetry and fixtures, and each has a combination shower and tub.
Experience the magic of Tucson living as it was originally envisioned in the 1950's.

My family is from and I grew up in the Sonoran desert of Southern Arizona. I always wondered why I ever left. This home is a beautiful example of the creativity in design and building of that era.
This is the way that Tucson was meant to be enjoyed.
This is a great house, in a "historic" neighborhood. All of the houses in the subdivision are on 1+ acres. The property is walled with beautiful brick. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a spacious and private oasis with so many amenities nearby.
The house itself is authentic 1960's swagger - all on one floor, with glass sliding doors opening onto the private patio and pool area. Appropriately, martini glasses stand ready in the cabinet.
Conveniences are modern, and in some cases brand new. We appreciated the personalized binder with operating manuals included. The owner and property manager/realtor were personable and non-intrusive.
We had a wonderful trip to Tucson, and hope to return next year! Thank you so much.
