Overview

Ciutat Vella Apartment Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, sleeps up to 12 (convined 449548)

This deluxe apartment is available as a monthly rental only (minimum 32 days).

An Unforgettable opportunity to experience Barcelona, staying in a charming 17th century building once a palace. This Unique two bedroom two bath apartment has lots of history in it. It was renovated in 2009 by an extremely sensitive architect that mixed the old art of the building with comfortable areas (that are going to make your vacation very special). It has 4 m high ceilings with wood beams, stonewalls, hydraulic mosaic tiles.

The master bedroom is equipped with its own double rain shower and basin. The shower has lots of history - its walls are covered with a 100-year-old double wood door and it has a unique Murano glass lamp. The other bedroom keeps the original hydraulic floor, which is a true piece of art. There is an additional bathroom with its impressive shower located where once was the stone entrance of the palace. The NEW third additional bathroom has design toilet and washing hands basin (built in December 2011 with lots of style and avant-grade)

You also have your fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and first class electrical appliances. The living room can accommodate two extra people on its sofa bed. There is also a separate dining room with a Le Corbusier table that fits six people.

WE HAVE INSTALLED A NEW DOUBLE SOUNDPROOF WINDOW TO AVOID THE NORMAL NOISE OF A VIBRANT CITY SUCH AS BARCELONA (July 2011).

ADDITIONAL AMENITIES:

* Complementary bottle of Spanish wine and fruit

* Air conditioning and Runtal heating

* High quality Chortex Peremium towels and cotton linens provided (Zara Home and Calvin Kelin)

* Design Furniture in each room

* Soundproof double glass windows. NEW soundproof double window. Maximum noise isolation

* TV, DVD and Wi-Fi

* Fully equipped kitchen and laundry

We hope you can be comfortable in our flat.

Fantastic Flat

  • 5 of 5

You will LOVE this flat! My wife and I stayed here for a week at the end of December 2014. The location is amazing. Great little restaurants with in an easy walk. Metro is also a short stroll...maybe 5 minutes, but you will love the walk. From there get anywhere you want to go. We bought the 4 day all you can ride pass and only used a taxi once (new years eve). Close to the stop for the double decker tour bus which we recommend if you want to learn more about Barcelona and hit all the top attractions quickly and easily. Not even 15 steps from the front door is a little market to get things you may have forgotten or just to stock up on wine or some groceries. Coffee and espresso shops are just a few steps farther. We would stop on the way home and pick up some of the incredible pastries for breakfast the next day. A very safe and intimate neighborhood. The flat is one short set of steps to the first floor. Very spacious for two people. Everything was so easy to operate we had ZERO problem with anything in the flat. Victor and family have it down to a science. You will like the little outdoor space in back for just hanging out. The interior design is very up to date while keeping the charm of old Barcelona. Super clean and quiet. We used the washing machine several times for towels and clothes. There is not a dryer in the unit but you can hang outside on the clothesline on the private patio. You will really like Victor. He was quick to respond to all our questions and is like your own personal concierge if you any questions or need recommendations. Really can't express how great this location is. We really enjoyed walking in the neighborhood. We often think back to our time in Barcelona and how much more special it was having our own "home" to come back to everyday.

CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN

  • 5 of 5

I am writing an update today on the 4 year anniversary of our first visit to Barcelona. As I sit here reminiscing about our European vacation, I can't help smile when I think about Barcelona. Our stay could not have been made any better. Miguel who greeted us upon arrival was quite charming and very knowledgeable of the area. We loved hearing about the history of the building. My husband fell in love with the architecture and the location was perfect. We ate at many of the restaurants nearby and the Gotic Quarter left me in awe. I am happy to say we will be returning next October and we are indeed staying in the same apartment. We talk about our experience often with friends and I am happy to say, Miguel and Victor have the best hospitality and made us feel like family. We were 2 couples and one of the guest had a birthday while there and Miguel picked up a delicious cake for a surprise. It was a sweet touch.

Can't wait to return, October 2016 will be here before you know it.

Loved our stay in Barcelona!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at this lovely flat. The location was perfect for wandering through the Gothic Quarter and conveniently located to many other areas of the city. The teak terrace was a great spot for sitting outside in the morning with our coffee (there is a great coffee shop just a few steps from the apartment) or for having a glass of wine in the evening. Victor and his father Miguel were absolutely wonderful to deal with and the communication was great. We also used the transportation offered to and from the airpot which I also highly recommend. The apartment was clean, spacious and very comfortable. We were able to walk just about everywhere from this location and rarely used taxis. We would highly recommend staying here!

Wow - simply fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, along with another couple, spent the first 4 days of our trip to Spain in Victor's apartment and we loved it! Both Victor (and his father Miguel) were fantastic to deal with and they lived up to everything you will read about his site!

The location was in the heart of everything we had heard and expected from such a wonderful city. We had a long travel day (from Vancouver, Canada) and our arrival/ stay was stress free and one of many highlights we experienced! We walked everywhere, which means everything we could think of was within walking distance! Whether it was the cathedral, the port, Las Ramblas (which I think was a bit over-rated) or the Picasso museum - it was perfect!

At the end of each day we would enjoy a drink (or two) on the deck and I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. Paying cash when we arrived was also without issue and I can understand why this is a preferred method of payment.

We will certainly reach out to them the next time we find ourselves in town, and I do not hesitate to encourage anyone who is heading to this area to talk to them - I cannot imagine anyone would regret this!

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

This flat is not what it seems from photos posted here and the majority of reviews. Ultimately, we felt misled and relocated after the first night of our planned four night stay. Our party consisted of four adults - two married couples.

We were greeted upon our arrival by a graffiti-covered, solid metal exterior door on a narrow pedestrian street. Through that door is a poorly lit entryway and stairwell which echoes every noise made in it back into the flat.

The flat itself is dim and poorly laid out. The kitchen is decent and functional. The positives end there. Of the two bedrooms, the larger has a glass shower and sink in the bedroom. The photos of this bedroom (and indeed of the whole flat) are not an accurate depiction; the room is dark. The toilet for this room's "bathroom" is on the opposite side of the flat, behind a thin partition wall and glass ceiling in the living room (yes, in the living room). The second bedroom is tiny, with barely any space on either side of the bed. For both beds, the pillows were uncomfortable and the linens damp and unclean feeling. The outdoor space is dingy and receives no natural air or light. The second bathroom is a tiny closet, in the dining room behind a thin frosted glass door. The shower is unusable and dirty, and the towels we were provided (just one per person) were musty. At night, the light and noise from the street necessitates shutting the windows and shutters completely, eliminating all natural light and also forcing one to leave the doors open in order to receive ventilation from the AC unit located in the dining room.

All in all, the photos for this flat are misleading and it is almost inconceivable that there could be so many positive reviews with nary a complaint. The one positive is that we were refunded part of our money for the nights (paid in cash, in euros, in advance) we did not stay. All in all, a major disappointment.

Owner's Response: We're disappointed that you didnt enjoy the flat. Its the first time in years that this happens to us.We dont mislead anyone. The pictures show accurate how the flat looks like.Of course Its not a penthouse at the Paseo de Gracia. We are offering an enchanting apartment located at a quaint pedestrian street of the Old Town.Barcelona Old Town as many other European cities is know for its nice narrow streets full of history. Our flat its on a 400-Year-Old building that has many nice architectonical features such as the high ceilings, stonewalls & wood beams.Of course this may not be of your like. However 111 comments shows opposite. We NEVER post comments on our behalf all are posted by guest. Regarding the pictures of the main bedroom I'm surprised that you say it looks different. Its a 25-sqm bedroom with a state of Art double rain shower. The doors on the back are more than 100 year Old & have been treated with special waterproof varnish. The washing hands basin cabinet is design furniture that we bought specially from France. Its true that the WC is outside the bedroom for obvious reason.Actually there is one WC just in front of the bedroom. The second bedroom is 15 sqm, which for the European standards is more than average. It has an antique closet from India & authentic hydraulic floors which are very valuable. We serve anti allergic memory foam pillows & mattresses plus very high quality CLEAN bed linens (Zara home, CK..). I understand that you might not like memory foam pillows but that is no reason to say its poor quality.Towels are Chortex from England, which offers a 650 gr/m of pure Egyptian cotton. If you are at the city center of course when the windows re open you will have noise from outside. Our apartment is located on a pedestrian street with no pubs or restaurants below. There is minimum noise but you need to know that Barcelona is not the countryside. The windows can be closed and let the natural light get in or close the window shades in order to avoid the sun in the morning. AC is very powerful. W have a very nice teak outdoor terrace. It's two canopies in case you would like to have more privacy but saying that has no natural light or air is just not telling the truth. We're honest people and when you wanted to leave we returned all the money. This is peak season & I do not think that other owners would have done that. However we prefer guest that appreciate the history that is at each part of this apartment. We've positive feedback of 111 guest so far.

Great Location.

  • 4 of 5

We were at first disappointed in the size & darkness of the flat but got over it as the stay progressed. The photos show the same spaces from different angles and with different furniture in it, so we actually thought there was an extra living area. Our error I'm sure. Once we got out & started exploring the area, we realised that it's in fantastic location with everything within a short reach. One of the best things was the market around the corner, Mercat De Santa Caterina. Awesome produce of all descriptions & full of great eateries. The Owner & his father Victor were a pleasure to deal with and very available & helpful as well.

  • The architect decided to have a master room with comfort and avant-garde. There is a double glass cabin with rain shower, whose rear side is a double-leaf wood door with its original wrought iron hinges and lock, over 100 years old, on which six coats of marine varnish were applied for total waterproofing. And it also has a 'cabinet' type washbasin with a big mirror, that wasn't there for the pictures. The room has 4 meters high ceilings with wooden beams and the architect didn't accept to have a 'toilet' inside the room (we tried to convince him, but he said that we would definitely ruin the sense of the room). There are another two bathroom one with shower, a cabinet and a toilet with a window and another one with toilet and washing hand basin.
