When I arrived the non-English speaking door guy had no idea who I was. He called the manager and she didn't know it was booked. They brought me down some shady alley and then up to the unit. Immediately I was disgusted! The entire place was dirty, cockroaches everywhere. The bathroom had a dead cockroach in the tub, the toilet seat was broken off, there was no toilet paper, nothing in the first aid kit, and you could tell no one cleaned it in a while.
The kitchen...stove has not been cleaned in years, the sink was dirty and the was an empty soap bottle. Very little cups, plates and silverware. Open the drawer or the fridge...you guessed it...cockroaches!
The sliding glass door to the very busy street wouldn't close by 3 inches so you have the pleasure of listening to beeping horns and traffic non stop. Slide the glass door open (because it's so dirty you can not see through it) and after you see the ocean you get to watch the 5-6 D-list hookers working cars driving by.
The bedroom...do not let the old pictures posted on the site fool you! The bed had no cover, just a sheet and two nasty small pillows. The jacuzzie, the jets had some blue gue on them and when you tried to fill up the tub it wouldn't. The A/C (that wasn't even cold) would turn on, but in 10 minutes the circuit would break and it would shut down. So the unit stands at about 85 degrees. Speaking of the circuit box, when you walk in to your right and look at the filthy wall you see the uncovered circuit breaker. Shocker you could see burn marks on the wiring. I'm not a fireman but I'm sure that's not good!
THe floors were filthy and the front couch had many stains all over it...gross!
In any event, I immediately texted the owner that night with no response. I also immediately booked another Hotel for the morning (which saved my trip!) And one more thing...the owner said there was a safe...that was a lie...there is no safe.
The following morning I sent more text messages to the owner and called him. He has heard these complaints before so he was understanding and said he would refund me all money and deposit. So I left the unit thinking my money would be returned.
A couple days later on Monday I text the owner again about my refund and he flipped the script on me. He said I didn't cancel through homeaway so he didn't refund. Seriously?!? After many text messages, an agreement that the place was horrible, I was leaving and getting a full refund he pulls that?
First of all, we arrived to a dirty, stinking apartment where there was dirty sheets, dirty and molding dishes in the sink and a filthy bathroom. The refrigerator was broken, towels and linen soiled and the place smelled of moldy and rotten food in the sink. Very disappointing. We were moved to a different apartment which was clean and beautiful, but there was am inch deep of water in the bathroom floor and than an hour later the electricity went out. We were moved a 3rd time to a 2 bedroom apartment without the promised hot-tub in the bedroom. This apartment was clean, but not what we signed up for. Than the next day we were asked to move back to the 1st apartment because of another renter who was suppose to be in our apartment. We refused and they allowed us to stay. Over all it was a very disappointing experience. The location was undesirable, dangerous and not at all what it represented online. On top of it all we were subject to nightly views of hookers out our window. I would seriously recommend this property to be taken off your site. It has not represented your vacation rentals in a good lite.
Location was great and local people were great. We stayed 25 days and found the apartment in need of alot of maintenance. Shower doors and tub needed repair. Sliding doors didn't slide, windows were hard to open, Floors and bathroom were filthy. The apartment needed some deep cleaning. Owner answered our questions but was not very helpful overall. For example he does not tell you there are laundry facilities on 2nd and 6th floors or what the key fob was for. A notebook in the apartment with this kind of info would have been very helpful. A coffee pot would have been nice as well as a dishcloth and dish towel.
My husband and i enjoyed the ocean view, the apartment is near many restaurants. The bed was comfy, the airconditioner was good and the hot running water was a plus! The bathroom and jacuzzi tub need some maintenance and a fan in the living would have been nice. Yaniris the apt manager was going to bring me a fan but i had no time to wait for her. She was really nice. I would consider going back to this apt, it was a nice place to stay.
Nice for a downtown stay, could use some maintenance, the tub is a bit in disrepair, many light bulbs burnt out through out the apt., wifi worked great though, 24 hr security guard down stairs was nice.... super busy street next to this group of condos so expect lots of noise 24-7.
The place was really good and safe..felt like home ... would consider staying again in the future!
