Fabulous house with great amenities and gorgeous views
This house met and surpassed the photos. All the bedrooms are on the first floor and have bathrooms attached. The kitchen is huge and well supplied with dishes, glasses, pots and pans. There are upstairs and downstairs living room areas, as well as outside. There are wonderful big long tables for dining inside and outside as well as the kitchen counter. We were 9 adults and it was terrific for all of us (although the twin bedroom beds were a bit small for a grown man.) The pool is beautiful but not heated, which for most people is not an issue but I'm prissy about that so it was a bit too chilly for me. The views are gorgeous. The only thing we didn't enjoy here was that this is the windy side of the island, so the winds were strong every day (keeps you from getting too hot sitting by the pool) and the water was choppy from the winds. When we drove over to 7 mile beach it was calm and peaceful on that side. Also, as others have noted, the seagrass in the water goes right up to the edge of the beach, and the water is so shallow that you have to be in the sea grass to use the ocean. I did walk to the next property where they have a sandy walk in, but then you're in even more shallow water with the seagrass. The good news is that if you're willing to float over the seagrass and get closer to the reef, there's wonderful snorkeling out there with schools of fish and lovely coral by the rocks. I should add that the Cayman management of the property was terrific about helping arrange activities in advance, answering all our questions, and checking up on us. We went on a private boat charter snorkeling and that was wonderful. We found a night kayak trip out of Rum Point to see the bioluminescent water and that I highly recommend as well. We ate at Kaibo Upstairs, the Lighthouse, and Tukka, plus the beach restaurant at Kaibo, and enjoyed all. On 7 mile beach we ate at Luca's which we always like. We arranged to have food delivered the day we arrived by ordering online in advance, and it was in our refrigerator and pantry when we arrived which was fabulous. We were concerned about driving on the left all week but those who drove had no problems. Just note that neither Waze nor google maps recognizes the address of the property correctly but they get within a few miles of it.
Lovely well-built roomy home with an amazing view!
Beautiful house on the northside of the island, about 1.5 miles from Rum Point and 2.5 to Kaibo. The view over the pool is amazing and the house is roomy and spacious with 5 great bedrooms. We had 5 couples and it was plenty big. We probably could have used another refrigerator but there are two smaller beverage refrigerators which was very helpful. It was my first time staying on that side of the island- I had always been at Seven Mile Beach so it was a little different, a bit windier, but great to explore the Northside and the East End. It was wonderful having Rum Point so close, as it is one of my favorite places, and Kaibo and Starfish Point were terrific. The housemanagers were extremely helpful and responsive as well. All in all, a wonderful stay at a beautiful place.
Beautiful well maintained home. Everything worked and it was well supplied
Service before arrival was great. Very responsive and helpful during planning. Manager called to check on us soon after our arrival. The space was awesome and all furnishings and appliances were high quality. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer home and location. Would have been nice to have the piles of seaweed removed. Overall a great vacation on a beautiful island.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The home was beautiful if you're looking for a remote area. It was also nice that each room had it's own AC/Heat as we had people from Ohio, Texas, and California in our group that are used to different temperatures.
The view was unbelievable out by the pool. True paradise. Peaceful location although still very convenient to rum point restaurants and coffee. We Loved Kiabo restaurant. If you are debating, don't just go it is amazing. The furniture and sleeping layout is great. We had another couple and their 2 kids with us and it worked perfectly. Although would be a great place for couples as well. Highly recommend!!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Ocean Kai. The house is spacious with a large, open kitchen. The pool was great with plenty of outdoor seating. We loved being close to Rumpoint and Kaibo Yacht Club. We definitely would stay here again!
Ocean Kai is only a mile east of the famous Rum Point Club and enjoys a sandy beach and excellent snorkeling. The entire island is only 22 miles wide from west to east, so you are never too far from anywhere on Grand Cayman. The homes on the oceanfront in Rum Point offer great reef protected snorkeling. The beaches usually have plenty of white sand, but also can have spots of rocky “ironshore” with natural rock formations. The closer you get to Rum Point, usually the sandier the beach as well as swimming. Either way, with the abundant marine life we have in the water, you will want to wear pool shoes or fins for foot protection. The trade winds from the east also make flying insects less of a nuisance—many of the homes in Rum Point don’t even need a screened porch. The big draw to this area is the proximity to the Rum Point Club, a public beach club that offers a fantastic barefoot beach, many water sports, a restaurant bar and grill, a gift shop, and pick-up beach volleyball games. Also near Rum Point is the Kaibo Yacht Club restaurant, bar and marina. Lastly, we have 2 large resorts in the east end (Morritt's and The Reef) that offer manicured beaches as well as restaurants, a modern grocery store, liquor store, gift shops, a Subway sandwich shop, and a cafe/pastry shop. These two resorts also offer scuba, snorkel trips, jet skis, windsurfing, kiteboarding, ocean front pools and bar service.
