Great place to stay on Grosse Ile

  • 5 of 5

Andy and Diana's house is on the northwest corner of GI. The large, private lot fronts on the river. I believe the home was around when I was on GI in the late 1950s and 60s. It is well maintaned, clean and comfortable and well provisioned. Andy even left a bag of coffee to use in the Bialetti espresso maker. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay on GI if you are not visiting friends or relatives. It is a much better alternative than other rental rooms which I have tried over the years.

Great place to stay on Grosse Ile

  • 5 of 5

Andy and Diana's place is a small home on the West River side and north end of GI. I am sure that the house was there in the late 1950s and early 60s when I was was in high school, but it is well maintained, very comfortable and nicely furnished. Andy even left me a bag of Starbucks coffee to use in the Bialetti espresso maker. In addition, the lot is large, very private and fronts on the river. I would highly reccomend this property over the Bishop Cottage B&B or the Pilot House (both of which I have stayed in) if you are visiting GI and not staying with friends or relatives. It is more expensive, but well worth it.

private getaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time in the little cottage off of the water. My husband and I visit the area yearly and this was our most favorite trip because it seemed like a retreat. Yes it's close to the toll bridge, however, the free bridge is 10 minutes extra drive time. We will be staying there again. Perfect amenities and wonderful owners. Thank you so much fir allowing us to stay in your home away from home.

Grosse Ile weekend

  • 4 of 5

The cottage on the water was very cozy and comfortable. It is well equipped with everything needed for a short or long stay. The grounds are old and rustic which adds to the charm of the place.

The owner who greeted us upon arrival was friendly and congenial and filled us in on the amenities and quarks of the property. We were already familiar with the area which has an interesting history and is a mixture of multi-million dollar homes, old and new, with some of the more average places indicative of the island's varied history.

We enjoyed our stay and it was much better than any motel in the area'

About Andy

My family have moved to Grosse Ile, MI from California more than five years ago. We love the seasonal changes and all the beautiful scenery we find here. We hope our guests will love this unique water front cottage as much as we do.

Andy purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Andy chose Grosse Ile Township

Although we live in a larger home on the island, but we love this little cottage for its unique setting with large open yard all around and a very private fishing dock tucked in a small bay all of its own.

What makes this cottage unique

Kayak rental is available at Riverside Kayak Connection across from the island. They offer hourly rental and lessons from Elizabeth Park.
