My wife Brendalee and I live in the greater Edmonton, Alberta area.
We both have had great careers in the sales and marketing industries.
Our fathers were in the Canadian Armed Forces and we both saw much of Canada as children. I also had the great opportunity to have lived in Europe for 4 years. As an adult I have returned on several occasions with Brendalee and other members of our family and friends to Europe. There is nothing like travelling to other countries and seeing how many wonderful sites there are in the world; this is a big part of why we love Canmore and it's many beautiful settings.
We both love the outdoors but are by no means professional athletes; this is an area where any skill level of hiking, biking, skiing, running, walking, golfing, fishing, and so many activities can fit your needs. Brendalee and I have surprised ourselves on doing things we never dreamed of until we came to Canmore.
We have young grandchildren who we are slowly introducing to all the outdoor activities including skiing and biking. Brendalee has also had her oldest granddaughter learning where the shopping bargains are in the area.
We also love music and Canmore has the oldest Folk Music Festival in Alberta in early August that brings in musical artists from all over the world.
We have also been lucky that our children also love the province of Alberta and we get to share our passion for the mountains.
We hope you and your families will come and share one of the most remarkable places in the world.
Rick Harris purchased this condo in 2002
Thanks to my job I had the great fortune of working one of the World Cup Mountain Bike races in 1999 as the athletes were readying themselves for the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. The races took place at the Canmore Nordic Centre which was the site for the Biathlon and Cross Country races for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.
The Nordic Centre continues to be used for many winter and summer World Cup events and as Canada prepared itself for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics the Canmore Nordic received a huge monetary investment to ensure the facilitates remained World Class.
There is mountain bike, cross ski and snow shoe rentals right at the Nordic Centre and the mountain bike lessons and guides are excellent.
Brendalee and I immediately fell in love with Canmore, Alberta and vowed if we had the opportunity to buy a Rocky Mountain home we would. We stumbled upon this unique Vacation Rental Opportunity and we have had the great pleasure in sharing our Rocky Mountain home with many friends, family and guests over the years.
We have been discovering many fun filled adventures in Canmore, Banff, Banff National Park, Lake Louise, Kananaskis, and Calgary with family and friends for over a decade. We feel like ambassadors of the area and would be happy to recommend different activities and sites whenever we can.
Brendalee and I have travelled throughout most of Europe, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean and have enjoyed every minute of our travels and believe that your trip to the Canmore area will be marked in your memories as one of the best vacation and recreational spots in the world.
What you will find is you will run out of time and will vow to return to continue your Rock Mountain adventures.
This area has so many things to do for whatever leave of proficiency and interest you might have in the great outdoors or if your expertise is shopping and dining the area of Canmore can handle your tastes; something for everyone.
You will find Canmore is steeped in history and keeps evolving with the times.
In 1883 construction began on the Canadian Pacific Railway from Calgary to west to the Rockies. A depot was constructed at mile 68 and was named Canmore after the ancient Scottish King, Malcolm Canmore. In that same year, coal was discovered and even though the coal mining is long gone the coal mine rails lines and bridges were transformed into incredible hiking trails steps away from our condo and wilderness.
Over the years Canada has been building the Canada Trail; it is the world's longest recreational trail and runs through out all of Canada. Recently as part of the trail the path between Canmore and the Town of Banff opened up. This portion is named 'The Legacy Trail'. This portion of the trail you can rent bikes from a multiple of Canmore bike rental companies and ride the Legacy Trail to Banff. There are picnic tables and washrooms at the half way mark. You can make this a leisurely bike ride and pack a lunch enjoying the sites along the way. The neat thing is when you reach Banff and don't want to peddle back to Canmore; catch the unique transit buses with bike racks on the front of the bus. The buses have special decals of wildlife and mountain scenes. Sit back enjoy the ride and sites and think about your adventures that day.
When you get back to our home you can enjoy a movie or two on NETFLIX (free) or head up to the hot tub to sooth your joints. If you have any energy left or after you take a quick nap you can head downtown where many different restaurants await you. All these great eating establishments are within walking distance of our Rocky Mountain home.
There is also Oh Canada Eh? Dinner Show at the Cornerstone Theatre. This show has been entertaining audiences for over 10 years. Your ticket includes a 4 Course Dinner and Musical Show celebrating Canada. The interaction with the actors makes this a fun filled experience that you soon will not forget
Great location, lots of room, roof top outside hot tub a hit.
Would most likely do the same again for another special Christmas.
we were so pleased with our stay here. rick is great to deal with and available when we had questions during our stay the location was perfect for downtown restaurants shopping walking trails The condo was stocked with basic supplies the view is incredible from the living room. Decorated nicely extra towels and bedding available. We would stay here again and highly recommend this place. We visited other condos at some of the resorts in the area during our visit and this condo is much better. Large kitchen and comfortable furniture
Spacious 2 bedroom apartment with a beautiful view. So glad we stayed here. Great for a family of 4 (teenager and baby). Plenty of room for both the kids.
Some other reviews say it is a warm apartment. Yes it is and can't be helped- just open the door or a window. Close walking distance to Safeway and restaurants. Plenty to do and see but you definitely need a car to get around and see all the sights.
Rick and Brendalee provide you with all of the information you need. Be sure to read it as getting into the underground car park is not easy without it. Would definitely stay again if we ever get back to Canada.
We have rented 25 or 30 VRBO properties during our travels and must say that this was the best experience we have ever had. The corner unit was spacious and bright, with spectacular views. The location is terrific in lively Canmore, only 10-15 minutes from Banff. However, the most striking positives for this rental are the extraordinary touches that Rick has put in place. Nothing has been overlooked. Kitchen and baths fully equipped and supplied. Whole unit clean as could be. Plenty of maps and travel information. I hate to say it, but we wish we could find things in our home as easily as we located stuff in this condo.
We stayed here in September 2016, and enjoyed our stay very much. Everything that we needed was there for use in the condo. If you are cooking your own meals 2 grocery stores were close by. We travelled into Banff, which of course is beautiful, but if you do not have a vehicle, Canmore is also very beautiful. We would recommend this condo and go back to Canmore anytime!!
LL St. Albert, Alberta

Lake Minnewanka (' Water of the Spirits' in Nadoda) is a glacial lake located in the eastern area of Banff National Park. The lake is the longest lake in the mountain parks of the Canadian Rockies. There is daily boat tours in the summer and the area is rich in animal life (e.g. elk, mountain sheep, eagles, mule deer, bears) with an excellent chance you will see some of this wildlife from your tour boat. The captain of the tour boats have great stories of the rich history of the area and there is a good chance you will get to steer the tour boat and get that once in a lifetime photo.
