About Greg or Kara

Kara, a quilt designer and mixed media fabric artist, hails from Abilene, Texas. Greg's a Minn-e-sotan, from a Western suburb of Minneapolis; He is a retired high school German teacher.

When you come to Estes, you may see several of Kara's items on display at the Aspen & Evergreen Gallery in Estes.

We sincerely hope you'll enjoy...and take care of...our home as if it were yours. Please don't hesitate to call to report anything malfunctioning or just to gush about the incredible beauty surrounding you at your vacation home.

Greg or Kara purchased this house in 2002

Why Greg or Kara chose Carriage Hills

Once a person actually visits Estes and takes in the amazing scenery, one knows and understands why this property was chosen...Then, of course, there's also the Rocky Mountain National Park.

What makes this house unique

Whether you are in the dining room or on the large deck, the views will utterly amaze and inspire you. Long's Peak plays peek-a-boo through the occasional clouds (Estes gets about 300 days of sunshine each year!). There's a great view of the 'beaver head".

Look to the left and take in great vistas of Baldpate and Twin Sisters Peak. Or...simply look across Fish Creek Road at the gorgeous rock outcropping towering over docile Fish Creek (except in the 1000-year flood of 2013!).

The upper and lower driveways provide easy access for unloading gear and for those who need a little extra help navigating walks, driveways, and stairs. It's possible to stay at our home without walking up ANY flights of stairs.

Quiet seclusion is a hallmark of this property, yet it lies just minutes from everything Estes Park has to offer. AND...Estes is THE Gateway to the Rocky Mountain National Park (100th Year Anniversary in 2015), which is a whole 'nother story...a whole 'nother world of beauty.

It is common to have elk and mule deer visiting our neighborhood because of the proximity to Fish Creek. We've also seen badgers, bobcats, beavers, bears...and...well, I can't think of anything else that starts with 'B'. Just sit quietly and observe and don't be surprised when the animals walk through the yard, ignoring you completely. Animal viewings are common throughout Estes and, of course, the RMNP where you might spot some Mountain Sheep.

Quaint shops in town with friendly owners and staff await your business. The restaurants have very good food and wonderful service with fair prices. You won't be price-gouged like one is at an amusement park. We LOVE 'Smokin' Dave's BBQ...Dave might be serving your dinner. Expect a wait at suppertime...but step outside and enjoy the mountain views to pass the time.

We love the town of Estes because of its people...treat them like friends, and you'll gain some new ones, as did Greg when he came from Minnesota.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wonderful Home! (5 stars)

We spent 3 nights in Cozy Cottage during our visit to Colorado. The house

is very spacious, there was more than enough room for our group of 7.

Having bedrooms on 3 separate levels gave everyone their privacy. The

views were great and so was the location - close to downtown Estes Park as

well as Rocky Mountain National Park. The kids loved the foosball table

downstairs. Greg was very responsive to all of my questions. Our only

regret is that we didn't have more time there!

The Estes Park Cottage was an excellent choice for us.

  • 4 of 5

The Estes Park Cottage was an excellent choice for us. We had 4 family members in our group and the Cottage had the perfect floor plan for our party. The view from the dinning area and outside deck was awesome. We even saw a mother bear and 2 cubs across the road from our rental one morning. Great time was had by all.

Estes Park wedding extravaganza

  • 5 of 5

No need to go into the national park too see wildlife. They come to you. Every morning and evening we listened to the elk bugling. A four point buck strolled down the road beside us. A short drive down fish creek road rewarded us with a dozen elk. Then a bear surprised us with a visit to our vehicles. (Make sure and lock your doors). Wonderful wedding at Crags lodge and plenty of time to visit with friends and relatives

Beautiful and Spacious

  • 5 of 5

During our stay, we enjoyed the spaciousness of the home and the convenience to the golf course, Rocky Mountain National Park and downtown. The kitchen was stocked with many different spices to add flavor to whatever we grilled that day. While we only saw one deer, she was eating within three feet of the window, which the girls were thrilled about.

Very nicely furnished for a family vacation

  • 5 of 5

My in-laws were very impressed with the appointments in the house. We were able to handle five adults and a child quite comfortably. Location is convenient to Estes Park, We only had a few questions prior to arriving - they were all handled within a day as well as the security deposit was promptly returned.

Nice and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

The house is bigger than it looks! Lots of room and enjoyed having a deck and the gass grill. Close to town and even closer to some of the RMNP trails- Longs Peak and West Basin. Very much appreciated the owners sharing detailed information about the house and how to get into the property. We very much enjoyed our stay!
