Love the neighborhood and wanted to live here.

If you are going to NYC please stay here, the house is just amazing, its clean its tidy, it has everything you need. The hospitality that we received from the family was just amazing, we were made to feel like part of the family, they could not do enough for you. The place is an hour outside of the city but the transport in brilliant, we stayed for three weeks and we were travelling in to the city everyday but not once did we get bored of the journey as it really does go quick. I would recommend this house to anyone and we can not wait to return.
My husband and I didn't get the chance to meet Larry and Nora but Nora's nephew (Brian) welcomed us and explained everything.
The room was exactly as you can see on the advertising pictures, clean, airy and the half bathroom inside is perfect while one of us was taking a shower.
The kitchen is well equipped, the neighborhood is safe and the shared bathroom was always clean.
If you choose to walk to the L subway station, it is a 20/25 min walk or you can call a Uber (USD 5-7). We used to walk in the morning and called a Uber at night because we were exhausted.
I def recommend this place.
Upon arrival we were surprised to find there was only 1 bed with no extra futon as the description referred to. I travelled with my 21 yr old daughter and we had to share a bed for 10 days which wasn't ideal but we coped.,
The half bathroom is actually a toilet with hand basin. There is ample clothes hanging space and storage for luggage if required in one cupboard.
Andrea and Lawrence were so very welcoming and it felt like staying with relatives. The shared kitchen and dining room is spacious and has everything one is accustomed to at home. There are no laundry facilities but there are a couple of laundrettes fairly close by. The air conditioning and large Ceiling fan are very efficient at keeping the room cool. Andrea prepared a lovely welcoming basket of a few treats/ snacks for our arrival. The accommodation is, by bus and subway, approximately 75-90 minutes from Manhattan, but given the price charged for this accommodation, it is much cheaper than staying in Manhattan itself. Brooklyn Heights by subway from Flatlands Avenue station is well worth a visit as is Williamsburg. Both very trendy and upcoming neighbourhoods a combination of Shoreditch, Portobello Road and Spitalfields in London.
We were given towels on arrival but as we were staying for 10 days, had to ask for some clean ones later on during our stay. There is wi-fi available.
I'd have no hesitation recommending Andrea and Lawrence and the accommodation.
My only bugbear was the distance from Manhattan as we hadn't realised just how far Carnasie is, Brooklyn being such a big borough.
If you've never visited before and intend to use the buses and metro, a 7 day metro pass costs $31.00 ($2.70)if paying per journey. Be careful if using an express bus as these have a seperate charge of $6 and do not accept the metro pass.
