Coastal North Carolina Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, 1 outside shower, (Sleeps 8)

Enjoy the ocean and the sound from this comfortable home. The walk to the ocean is short, and the beaches at this quiet end of Oak Island are uncrowded and spacious. The sun rises on the east end of the ocean front and sets on the west end. In summer, the sunset is viewed from the sound-side deck. As the day progresses, the sound side deck usually has shade by noon while the ocean side deck enjoys sunshine.

Keywords: Located at the quiet, uncrowded west end of Oak Island, NC. Spacious unspoiled beach, clean and natural.

Suitability:
  • Minimum Age Limit for Renters

About Carolyn Hackett

My husband and I bought this house to provide a gathering spot for our family so that we could enjoy the ocean and boating activities. The large driveway provides plenty of room for boats and for children to play; the relaxing sounds of the ocean and the sea buoy force us to slow down and take it easy.

Carolyn Hackett purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Carolyn Hackett chose Coastal North Carolina

This location is close to the Blue Water Point Marina, 'The Point' and the beach. While our cottage is not ocean front, the walk is short. The beach is usually a quiet, family-friendly spot with plenty of space to claim as your own to enjoy. It is safe to leave your tent or umbrella and gear for the day.

What makes this cottage unique

We love the sound of the breaking waves and the sound of the ocean buoy guiding boats into the Lockwood Folly Inlet. We also love the sightings we often have of dolphins, pelicans, and boats. It is a great place from which we watch sunsrises, sunsets and the stars.

Great location! Great Amount of Space!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at your home....a one minute walk to the beach is crucial in 95 degree weather. :) The mattresses were incredibly comfortable, the space was adequate and we enjoyed our stay immensely.

Perfect Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

Rest. Relaxation. Peace. These are three things that we found during our stay at Mariners Watch. Another, more materialistic, thing we found was a perfect amount of space for our family, which included 5 adults, a 5 yr. old and a 2 yr. old. All of the many things left here for our use by the owners made things SO incredibly comfortable, and we enjoyed “smooth sailing” during the entirety of our week-long stay. We have always loved the Oak Island area and will undoubtedly return year after year. If you’re looking for a place to simply wind down and spend time with family while avoiding the crowds at the beach, then you need to stay at Mariners Watch!

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Our family has enjoyed two stays at this house. We very much enjoy Oak Island and this vacation rental provides a home away from home for us. The house is very well laid out for our family. The rooms allow us to accommodate our younger children so they can get a much needed nap in the afternoon while the older children can play many of the board games provided. The location is very nice with just a short walk to the beach. We also appreciate that the house is clean and well kept up. There are plenty of insider suggestions on where to eat and what to see while visiting. We look forward to another stay here!

Perfect beach house for a most relaxing vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, in-laws and our 8.5 mo old son just returned from long weekend trip here. This house was absolutely perfect. We were all impressed with how clean it was when we arrived and the kitchen was stocked with so many supplies! Many rentals have the bare minimum for cooking utensils - not the case here. The owner, Carolyn, is very friendly and prompt to respond to emails/phone calls. It is also a short walk to the beach. We loved this house and will definitely be back next year, hopefully with my parents too! Thanks for a most wonderful getaway!!

Owner's Response: We were "renters" for many years before buying our own place, and we have given a lot of thought to things we wished had been in place in our rental space. Fortunately our visitors have been helpful in leaving things they found needed but not available, and we have tried to leave most of these for others to use. We love hearing that our special space has provided a great place for others to enjoy this most precious spot on Earth!! Do come again!

Home away from Home

Great week here with 2 sons and families! MW accommodated a family with a 15 month old, a family with 3 active boys in the side suite which was great and Nana & Poppy! We slept well, played hard, ate heartily, and enjoyed both ocean and sound.

The availability of both was a big bonus for us!

The cottage was all as promised by the Owners; the kitchen is so well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc. that it was hard to find room for non-refrigerated groceries. Might weed a bit there, but don't touch anything else----it is a great family cottage!

Owner's Response: We love providing that family space for enjoying multiple generations as it reminds us of the wonderful times we have had with our children and grandchildren there! Come again!
