About Kelly McGrory
We are Kelly, William and Trex. We live in Southeast Pennsylvania where we work as a speech therapist, tech support manager, and faithful pooch. We love the outdoors, and have a great appreciation for nature. We love to share the peace, tranquility, and romance of our cabin in the Shenandoah area. We hope you enjoy it and make happy memories for yourselves. Happy Trails, Kelly and William (and Trex too!)
Kelly McGrory purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why Kelly McGrory chose Stanardsville
We chose to purchase this property, with hopes that we would relocate to the Charlottesville, VA area for its outdoor lifestyle. Our jobs keep us in Pennsylvania, but we enjoy 6-7 trips to Romance Ridge per year to take in the beauty and serenity of the mountains and hike the trails in the Shenandoah National Park.
What makes this Cabin unique
Romance Ridge is located at the doorstep of the Shenandoah National Park, and is equidistant between University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and James Madison University in Harrisonburg. With two ski resorts close by at Masannutten and Wintergreen, it's not easy to choose! Luray Caverns is an easy day trip. There are numerous, breweries and vineyards in the area, along with antique shoppes, wildlife management areas, and country roads to explore and take in the undeveloped scenery. The Shenandoah Valley is rich with history, from Civil War trails to James Madison's Monticello, James Monroe's Ash Lawn, and James Madison's Montpelier. No matter your destination, we are sure you will enjoy the peace, solitude, and serenity of the cabin itself. Enjoy your stay!

Secluded and very clean cabin for two. It matched us perfectly.
The cabin involves a 1.7 mile, narrow dirt road off the state highway, but it is very worth the trip. The owners keep the cabin very clean. The bedroom, couch and fireplace and kitchen are all attached in the same room which makes it perfect for two. It looks rustic, but it has modern heating, WiFi and DVD player, microwave and dishwasher and hot tub. We took day trips to Colonial Williamsburg, Monticello and Shenendoa National Park. The owners are very helpful in preparing for your stay and we received a lot of helpful information from them.
Great couple getaway!
We love the privacy of the property and the accommodations are wonderful.
Beautiful, gorgeous and clean property.
Beautiful cabin. Absolutely loved being there. 3 nights wasn’t long enough, next visit will be longer. All I needed was my personal items and some food to cook up. Loved watching the day wake up from a rocker on the balcony. Owner was very sweet and friendly.
Great place. Everything was well maintained and clean. Beautiful piece of property. Enjoyed our stay there.
The cabin is perfect for two people, excellent condition and appointments.
We enjoyed a wonderful stay, a Friday evening through the following Tuesday morning. The location is excellent with a wonderful view. Hopt tub on the back deck with a view - the weather was too warm to think about getting in. Only 20 minutes to Skyline Drive and many opportunities for hiking and sightseeing. Not too far from the Loge at Big Meadows, that serves L&D with a spectacular view of the valley. Highly recommend the Hightop Mountain Trail, just south of the Swift Run Gap Entrance Station. Comfortable bed, and great A/C.

Turkey Ridge Road is a state maintained dirt road. While not necessary to drive an all-wheel vehicle, it may be easier in inclement winter weather. There are black bear who inhabit this area of Virginia. Please do not leave food or trash outside the cabin, as this will attract various pests from the woods. While black bears are an exciting siting, we do not wish to create a pest environment.
