The Little Blue House, llc is an 1895 Carriage House converted into Big Timber's first official Tourist Home in June of 2011 and perfect for 1 or 2 couples or a small family. Keeping with its original charm and character, this 'in-town' vacation home offers nightly rentals within walking distance to fine dining, shopping, a movie theater, local bars stocked with locals, followed by a church for everyone!
Big Timber is flanked by the Yellowstone and Boulder Rivers, so access to World Class Fly Fishing is just minutes away. Horseback riding, a float down the river, hiking the Crazies, a visit to the Crazy Mountain Museum, or wild game and bird hunting is so close; you would think it's in our back yard!
The Little Blue House welcomes you to a private courtyard, with a BBQ, outdoor table with seating. Comfort awaits as you walk through the front door. The living room is warm and inviting with a stone wrapped fireplace, cozy sofa, leather chairs, a flat screen cable tv, and art on the walls.
Passing through the living room, the charming kitchen is 'just like yours'. You will find a full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, stove with oven, a microwave, pots and pans, lots of dishes, oodles of glassware, a blender, mixing bowls and mixer. Expect items like spices, foil, saran wrap, olive oil and more.
Off the kitchen is a small bathroom with a shower. Off the other side of the kitchen is a hallway to the 'Main Floor' bedroom with a full sized bed.
Dashing up the stairs, you enter a private 'Suite', featuring a white tiled bathroom with a garden tub for a soothing soak after a long day. A king size bed adds comfort to your stay upstairs, along with a separate reading area, a flat screen cable tv, built in dresser and a writing desk. You'll also find The Little Blue House guitar hanging on the wall for your use.
We are NOT a B&B. We do not turn down bedding at night, put a chocolate on your pillow, or serve fancy eggs in the morning. We don't even make your bed. The Little Blue House is truly 'your home' away from home. Our goal is to provide guests with a high level of privacy and independence, while still being in the area, available for help and guidance if needed.
Although our Little Blue House has been thoroughly updated, its vintage charm has been retained. We adore it, and hope you do too!

My husband and I live north of Big Timber in the Melville community, which is a ranching community where I was raised. We own and operate a guest ranch there (Sweet Grass Ranch) in the Crazy Mountains and also work in Big Timber. Sweet Grass County is a wonderful place to call home.
We love the charm and sense of history in the Little Blue House. The prior owners took such care to lovingly restore the property and when they decided to sell, we jumped at the chance to purchase the Little Blue House. Decades ago, relatives owned the Little Blue House so it has family history as well as unique character.
Thanks for making Christmas 2012 so special. The LBH was everything we imagined and more. Fully stocked a perfectly decorated for Christmas right down to the freshly cut tree.
You were great hosts...thank you
Owners Note: This was a lovely family of 4 visiting their parents/grandparents for the Christmas Holidays. The absolute BEST thing about their visit, was a gift to us from their daughter. She made a darling gingerbread Little Blue House. We love it. We posted it on our vrbo site and it is carefully packed away for next year! Thank you so much!
We had a wonderful time at The Little Blue House. It is completely renovated and yet retains the charm of an older home. And it is stocked to the gills with everything you could possibly need for a summer or winter stay. We are a military family and my husband was slated to leave on a year-long deployment to Afghanistan, so this vacation was extra-special for us. Our week at The Little Blue House was both relaxing and exciting as we were able to explore Yellowstone, Bozeman and Livingston, but also spend days just "chilling out" in Big Timber. Exactly what we needed. I highly recommend this special house located in this beautiful Montana locale.
What a wonderful experience staying in the Little Blue House. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the accommodations. It was cozy, clean, and every detail has been addressed. As stated…an experience to fondly remember.
The Little Blue House is just about perfect. We spent a week on vacation to explore Yellowstone and the house had EVERYTHING we needed to feel it was ours. The bed was truly comfortable, the kitchen fully equipped and the owners even stock the fridge with what you need for your first breakfast! They supplied us with detailed driving information on wonderful places to go, things to do and the best way to organize seeing Yellowstone. And we got to see so much more than just Yellowstone because of their recommendations.
But even though they live next door we never felt they intruded - the Little Blue House was ours for all week. Comfortable, spotlessly clean, furnished in great taste with everything you could want including satellite TV and wi-fi (if really MUST check in with the office) and a hot tub under the stars if you don't. Plus Big Timber has a Fabulous restaurant at the Grand Hotel and some great shops.
You just can't go wrong if you stay here - and we wish we could have stayed longer! We hope we get the chance to go back-SOON.
My family & I stayed here for almost a week the end of June 2013 & absolutely loved this home! We were in town to visit family for a very important event & the Little Blue House could not have been more perfect for our needs. Growing up I spent several weeks every summer in Big Timber & was so pleasantly surprised to find this home for rent this past year. Not wanting to stay in a hotel/motel for the week, this house provided us with everything we could have needed & more with only one exception -- no washer & dryer in the house, which I'll admit was a bummer (& my fault for not noticing beforehand); however there is a fabulous laundromat literally just a few blocks down on the same side of the street & was wonderful.
O.K. Back to what the house did have & offer -- EVERYTHING! Not to mention the attention to detail throughout, even down to eggs, butter, ground coffee, juice & homemade breads in the fridge upon our arrival. And clean! Super, super clean. The beds in both rooms -- incredibly comfortable.
Barb & Jerry were absoloutely fabulous & very generous with their hospitality; always quick to respond if we had any questions or needed anything.
I would highly recommend this rental to everyone.
MY BROTHER AND I LOVED THE LITTLE BLUE HOUSE. YOU CANNOT BELIEVE HOW MUCH NICER IT WAS TO STAY AT 'T.L.B.H.' THAN TO STAY FOR 4 OR 5 DAYS IN A MOTEL.
FROM THE MOMENT YOU OPEN THE DOOR YOU'LL BE ENCHANTED.
PICS. ON THE INTERNET DON'Y DO IT JUSTICE.
