It was everything we expected. Loved the peacefulness and the solitude from the fast past city life. The cabin was great and very homie. Beds were very comfortable and the kitchen meet our needs. The only thing that I saw that might need some attention was two of the burners on the stove would not work and we did encounter some roaches and some cobwebs that were at the top of the ceiling. But everything else was perfect, the backyard was awesome to just sit out there and enjoy the nature. Loved building bond fires and using the bbq pit. Thank you so much for making our 1st experience in the hill country very memorable and enjoyable.
Hubs and I had a fantastic weekend at the Red Rooster Cabin, one of 5 that are next to each other, but not too close on the property at the Lodges at Lost Maples near Vanderpool. Nestled in to one of the most scenic, curvy drives Texas highways has to offer - I mean that in a great way. So pretty, even in the dog days of summer, we were way cooler than in San Antonio.
The cabin can sleep a lot more, but we were just two and loved it. SO CLEAN. King bed - very comfy - great pillows and sheets. Didn't see the owner or the pup, but we did have the delicious banana bread waiting.
If you need some time to unwind and get away - highly recommend. no cell service is no biggie here. there is service down the road a few miles at the lost maples country store with plenty of anything else you need as well.
The owner sent a list of recommended places with our check in notice and we tried several - ALL WINNERS! Mac and Ernies- big win, best salmon I ever ate on a paper plate.
Laurel Tree dining - amazing food, open only Sat nights, res required $44 pp and well worth it.
I'll put up pics if I can figure it out - great place. we'll be back. - M/L
Our cabin was beautiful and the owners were very hospitable and even brought us extra towels.
Our cabin was so cozy and beautiful. My son (11) & daughter (17) loved the bunk beds and my husband and I enjoyed the feeling of being away from all the loud "city like life!" The cabin was nice and clean with everyrhing we needed! We loved the owners sweet dog Remy stopping by to visit! The area was absolutely stunning with the mountains and wildlife and I highly recommend staying here. The owners were so helpful with the area and even brought us a loaf of banana nut bread which was the best we'd ever had!!! Great memories with Lost Maples!!!
Very cozy spot
Jeralyn and her team have an awesome property and do a fantastic job making folks feel welcome. My husband and I cannot wait to come back next year.
The Lodges are only 10 miles to the Frio River - perfect for tubing or kayaking. The two lane country roads, steep sided canyons, rivers and natural environment provide plenty of opportunity for a beautiful and relaxing escape from the big city. The dark skies at night provide excellent opportunity for star gazing. The quaint towns of Leakey, Concan and Utopia offer mom and pop businesses providing eating establishments, entertainment and shopping opportunities.
