Tucked on a picturesque street next to Monterey Bay, this updated 2000 square feet, 2-story home combines breathtaking water views with proximity to the charming community of Pacific Grove. Families can enjoy swimming at the beach at nearby Lovers Point.
This 3-bedroom, 3-bath features a reverse floor plan with the main living quarters on the 2nd story to take full advantage of the vistas. Just a few steps out the front door is walking/bike trail that meanders along the water for 15 miles. Pristine in and out, the house has a sophisticated interior design with a seashore motif. Images of shells, seahorses and other gifts from the sea provide accents.
Upon your arrival you will be greeted with complementary wine and cheese, passes to the renown Spa on the Plaza in downtown Monterey, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, spa robes and beach gear.
The front door opens to a family room where you can relax and play games or watch movies on a 52” flat-screen HDTV in the glow of a gas fireplace. Furnishings include a dark-brown faux leather couch and ottoman/coffee table and brown wicker chairs with sea-foam blue cushions. The couch and ottoman can each become a twin bed suitable for children to sleep on. An enclosed patio has a bistro table and chairs where you can enjoy morning coffee.
The ground floor also has a bedroom with a queen wicker bed with luxury linens. An area rug accents the hardwood floor. Wicker side tables, metal lamps and dresser complete the picture. An adjacent bathroom with a tub/shower has sand-colored tiling.
The 2nd story features a handsome great room combining kitchen, dining and living areas. Whether you're preparing a meal, enjoying cocktails at sunset or relaxing in the living room, you can lose yourself in sweeping views over rooftops to the bay. At night, lights from nearby communities impart sparkle. Two leather couches with sea-foam blue accents, a rattan coffee table and a round wood side table sit atop a tweed shag area rug. Watch your favorite shows on a 60” HD TV by the light of a gas marble-faced fireplace. French doors lead to a deck that is equipped with a gas grill, table and chairs for al fresco dining.
The modern fully-equipped kitchen looks out to the living room. A granite angled bar with 3 swivel chairs offers a spot for casual meals. Black appliances include a gas range, dishwasher, side-by-side refrigerator and trash compactor.
The dining area has a dark wood table and leather upholstered chairs for 6. Setting up for an elegant meal will be a joy with the beautiful selection of dishes, glassware and serving pieces.
The master bedroom, with ocean views, has an island feel, with light mossy green walls, brown wicker king bed with luxury linens and an upholstered side chair. A 42” flat-screen TV sits atop a wood dresser, and there is a generous walk-in closet.
Take a relaxing soak in the spa-like master bath, with its glass-enclosed deep tub/shower with jets and plush towels and robes. Elegant touches include marble on counters and around the tub and a gold, carved-wood framed mirror.
The 2nd upstairs bedroom, also with bay views, has a queen-sized 4-poster bed with luxury linens, marble-topped bedside tables and metal lamps.
A nearby hall bathroom has a tub/shower combination.
One car garage, parking for a second car in the driveway, washer dryer and beach gear on site.

Spent a long presidents day weekend here with my wife, 2 daughters, our dog and in-laws. The weather wasn't perfect, but we still loved it. The home was very comfortable (nice kitchen, cozy beds, several large screen TVs, and big hot tub bath in master) and in a great location - very close to Lovers Point, a short walk to the yummy restaurants in town, and a scenic walk/bike ride along the costal path to the aquarium and Cannery Row. The Sanctuary Vacation Management company was easy to work with and accommodating with our needs.
This house is a virtual extension of the motel next door but with the space, privacy, and premium amenities of a luxury resort condo. A seating area provides a view of the ocean and a short block leads to a beautiful cliffside view. Get your 10,000 steps heading down to the lighthouse or the other direction to the Aquarium and all the fun shops on Cannery Row and Lighthouse blvd. The granite countertops, gas fireplaces and big screen TV's will have your family and friends relaxing in the cool oceanside digs.
Great house and great location. Could not have been more pleased with the place and the ease of the rental. Everything is exactly as promised.
The name "Sanctuary Vacation Rentals" is a misnomer. I booked a weekend rental in Pacific Grove 4 weeks ahead of time and spent at least 30 minutes on the phone discussing it with one of the agency's reservationists (based in town), who didn't bother to tell us the annual 2,400-person triathlon was the same weekend, which meant the streets were blocked, the beach was taken over and the loudspeaker was in use beginning at 6 am both weekend days -- all just steps from this house! This is obviously relevant info that the agent SHOULD have known and communicated. Agency's only response was a weak apology. When you pay for the "value added service" of an agency, you expect better than this.
The home was clean and ready when we arrived. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed- right down to a salad spinner. The two upstairs beds were comfortable & made for a good nights rest. The only problem we had was the circuit breakers shutting off when over loaded. Once 2 people were using hair dryers at one time & they tripped the power- inconvenient for sure but property manager was quick to fix. We enjoyed our stay. Great stay in a fabulous area would come there again.
The house was so nice and comfortable. Everything was very clean.Great living area with fireplace. Set outside with a heater with a nice view of the ocean. Easy to walk to many restaurants for all 3 meals or cook in the well equipped kitchen. Half a block from the
ocean. Just minutes to Carmel or the Cannery.
Would highly recommend the Mermaid house!
