Great place for a Family gathering

  • 5 of 5

Preston and Judy were terrific hosts. We enjoyed speaking with them and hearing the family history. The farm house easily accommodated our large family, and we had plenty to do. I grilled chicken outdoors while watching a nice sunset over the mountains. We walked the property, fished the ponds, hiked Sharptop, spent time by the firepit on the back patio (even roasted hot dogs), and enjoyed seeing all the stars. My 15 year old son commented, "I have never seen so many stars in my life!".

Our hosts made us feel welcomed. Almost as if were were extended family.

They have thought of every need. We have been booking through VRBO for years, and I must say that this was the best provisioned place that we have ever stayed. We will be returning when we can. Thanks so much, we had a great time.

quaint and comfortable farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

Quaint and comfortable farmhouse. There were four of us, and we each had our own bedroom. Everything was functional and clean. There is a lot to do in the area with some great hiking just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The owners are gracious and charming, and the location makes it a wonderful place to stay -- very quiet but lots to do within a 30-45 min drive. We have wonderful pictures of a rising sun over rolling farmland.

Terrific Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We were a party of 4 seniors and we had a great time. The farmhouse was perfect and the homeowners made us feel right at home. The home is very clean and has everything you could need. Beds were comfortable and the baths immaculate. They even had plenty of children accessories like high chair, crib, toys & games, etc. This is a wonderful place to bring a family or for us older folks. Quiet but just a short drive to downtown. Several great places to eat if you don't want to cook, like Millstone right up the road and Liberty Station, Sisters, and Clamdiggers downtown. Sitting out on the back deck with the gas fire pit going in the evening was truly a luxury for us. The night skies were beautiful. I am thinking that we will be back again in the future.

This was our second time staying at this property, and we'd come back again!

  • 5 of 5

Just as it was last year, the house was clean and Preston and Judy were very welcoming. The sunsets over the mountains in the back yard were spectacular, and we enjoyed being able to be more social with Preston and Judy this year. We liked the addition of the "built-in" propane line for the fire pit, as we used it quite a bit and it's nice not to have the 5-gallon propane cylinder to walk around. If the opportunity presents itself next year, we'd love to be able to come back! Thank you for opening up your home to us once again.

Beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Mr. and Mrs. Layne helped make a rushed house hunting trip for our large family as relaxed and enjoyable as possible. Their property was neat, clean, and comfortable. Just the homey atmosphere we were looking for after our long car trip. They even brought us muffins, veggies from their garden, and the local paper's real estate pages! Will definitely stay again if the need arises. Would highly recommend both the Laynes and their property!

Owner's Response: Thank you. We enjoyed meeting all of you also and enjoyed the steaks one night this week you gave us. What a treat to go along with our fresh veggies. Hope the home you were looking at in the Forest area with the land works out for you to purchase. Hope to see you all again when you move to our area. Best of luck finding what will work great for you. Preston and Judy

The owners Preston and Judy are very passionate about this property and they maintain it very well.

I just wish we had stayed longer. We will be back when we get the next chance.
