About Virginia (Ginny) Petrie
I currently live and work in Telluride Colorado. I have been in the area for 10 years and actually lived in the cabin for 3 of those years.
Virginia (Ginny) Petrie purchased this Cabin in 2001
Why Virginia (Ginny) Petrie chose Elk Meadows
Its an amazing place and location graced with clean air, peaceful vibes yet close enough to town to get supplies and see the sights.
What makes this Cabin unique
The best thing about the cabin is how peaceful and quiet it is. I live in Telluride but it doesn't hold a candle to the peaceful tranquility of our cabin in Ridgway.

Cute cabin and awesome views!
The views around the cabin are breath taking. The drive from town to the cabin was a bit long but worth it. Such a beautiful area. Cabin was amazing. Has everything you could possibly need. Owner is nice and responds quickly with any info needed. We will definitely book here again in the future!!!
Great cabin with beautiful views!
We had a great time at Ginny's cabin. The location is great with beautiful views. The cabin is very well stocked with everything needed to cook and pretty much anything extra that you may have forgotten! Was outside town enough to be peaceful but close enough to easily spend the day in the surrounding mountain towns.
Great little place
Great views, good privacy and perfect location to explore all the towns and surrounding areas. Well furnished and cozy. Drive up and down from cabin to town can get a little tedious, but worth it once you are at the cabin. Thanks for having us!!
Quiet, Cozy Cabin in the mountains
We had a wonderful stay here in this cozy cabin overlooking the Cimarrons and Mount Sneffels. Ginny provided just about everything you'd need (besides personal groceries, of course) for a lovely stay. While the temps were a little chilly for sitting on the deck, I often went outside to take gorgeous pics of the mountain, snow falling, and sunsets. My hubby said sunrise on the mountain peaks was beautiful, too, I I usually missed that!
The loft was a bit inaccessible due to the ladder and no upstairs bathroom (I couldn't handle the ups and downs while half asleep), but there is a gorgeous view up there, too, if you can climb up and down. It's also a good place to read, nap, etc. Overnights, we cozied up in the lower bunk bed, though. The cabin can be made cozy with electric/central heat (I think it was set at 65 when we arrived, which was too hot for us), so we usually kept it at 50-55 degrees in the open concept cabin. A fireplace would have been nice, but we understood the safety reason for not allowing guests to use the woodstove.
There's a washer/dryer, lots of spices for cooking (we didn't cook, tho, because of the awesome restaurants in Ridgway), and just about every type of kitchen appliance, pots, and utensil you'd want. The dining area is conducive to both dining or working at the table. My hubby enjoyed having DISH (with most of the channels he has at home).
Communication with the owner was pleasant and timely. Overall, this was a wonderful 5-night stay and we hated to leave!
I’m so glad you found the loft to be a pleasant place to read. I just added the ikea chair & footrest for that very purpose. It’s my go to spot for my nightly chapter or two...or three etc. I look forward to reading the books you left. Thank you
My family thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at this cabin. It has beautiful views, we had everything we needed, it was very clean, and there was plenty of room for the four of us. It's quiet and peaceful, with gorgeous night skies. My two sons slept in the bunk beds while my husband and I had the loft to ourselves. It's within close proximity to great hiking, Ridgeway, and also Ouray. I hope to stay here again!
Oh, thank you for expressing my exact feelings about my little cabin. My son, who lives in Telluride and I don't know what it is about the cabin, but you definitely nailed it in a few sentences. Its all there, but isn't fussy. Its a place everyone simply feels at home. I only wish I could be there more often. I hope to hear from you soon. Ginny
Everything you need!
We spent 3 days at this cozy, comfortable and very clean cabin. Only 2 downsides....it's about a 15 minute drive out of town on a bumpy gravel road and getting up and down the ladder to the large bedroom is a little inconvenient especially during the night. But there is a laundry (huge help), every cooking utensil you could ever need, games and information about the local area plus jaw-dropping views. Beds are very comfortable too! Would love to return some day!
Yep. You are spot on regarding the road. It’s rough; but it’s Ouray County Colorado in the country. The main roads in Ridgway our nearest town were just paved last year! We call it “charming” and as you said the views are spectacular. Thanks for staying and I do hope you return often.
ridgway chamber has a very good website. Check that out. Also you can call me direct for specific inquiries. 440-477-0416 EST
