We hope that you enjoy our cozy mountain cabin. It is the perfect getaway mountain retreat. You will enjoy huge views of the Mt Sneffels range along with great sunsets off the deck to the west. The cabin sits on 1 acre of land and has comfy furniture and ample beds (twin, double, & queen) in this rustic retreat.
The cabin lies 2000' above the town of Ridgway. It is a 15 min. 8 mile drive to town on a beautiful well maintained dirt road. If you want to enjoy the beauty and attractions that this part of Colorado is known for then this is the place to stay.

I currently live and work in Telluride Colorado. I have been in the area for 10 years and actually lived in the cabin for 3 of those years.
Virginia (Ginny) Petrie purchased this cabin in 2001
Its an amazing place and location graced with clean air, peaceful vibes yet close enough to town to get supplies and see the sights.
The best thing about the cabin is how peaceful and quiet it is. I live in Telluride but it doesn't hold a candle to the peaceful tranquility of our cabin in Ridgway.
We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It worked very well for our family of five, and the location and views are amazing!!
The location is worth the short drive to and from Ouray, which we spent a few days exploring. We also took a day trip to Telluride, and even the little town of Ridgway is worth checking out - our young boys loved the Railroad Museum there.
We hope to return again some day!!
My wife, our two young boys, and I loved staying at this property for a few days. We were there in late September and early October, when the fall colors couldn't have been more stunningly beautiful. The cabin has amazing views of the surrounding hillsides and the mighty Sneffels Range towering above. We found the description of the cabin and all amenities to be accurate. The owner provided a full inventory of everything in the cabin, which was helpful when deciding what to bring. The cabin was clean and well-maintained. We had everything we needed. Our hope was to enjoy a few days in the San Juans during autumn, and this rental provided just that. We would happily recommend this property to friends and family, and we hope to return ourselves in the future.
We recently stayed at Ginny's cabin and had a wonderful time exploring the area, then coming back to the comfort of the cabin at the end of the day. Thoughtful touches make this cabin 'just right'. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely stay again!
We really loved Ginny's little cabin. It was about 30-35 minutes from Ouray (probably only 10 minutes for a crow) and 20 minutes from Ridgway. We love both little towns. The cabin was tastefully decorated, cozy, clean and tidy with all the comforts of home. Beds were comfortable. It was very helpful to have a washer and dryer since we traveled with our six year old. The drive to the cabin is remote and scenic, and the neighborhood was very quiet. We loved sitting on the deck below the majesty of the peaks above. Ginny was really awesome to work with and communicated with us quickly. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
We loved staying here during our vacation to the San Juans!
Thank you Ginny for sharing your lovely and cozy cabin with us!! We made some happy family memories (which we detailed in your guest book). :-)
To potential renters: the pictures of this cabin don't do it justice. It's an inviting, sunny and comfortable place. And no joke.. the views are outstanding!! If you do nothing else on your trip but sit on the back deck and gaze at the expansive mountain views, you will be happy, relaxed and rejuvenated. It's an adorable cabin with big windows, two porches, enough room for a family... and is private without feeling too remote.
The interior is thoughtfully decorated, and has a warm vibe of happy times having been had over the years. It is stocked with everything you will need (aside from food, of course).
Our family was very content there, as our home-base while enjoying all that Ridgway and Ouray have to offer (hiking, hot springs, dining, a train museum and park for the kids, walks through the beautiful and friendly neighborhood, etc). And almost every day of our stay we had deer literally right off the porch.
One thing to note: it's high up! I live in Colorado and I still had some mild issues with the altitude. Drink lots of water!
Many kind thanks to you Ginny. We look forward to a return visit!! :-)

Know that this little cabin is in high elevation & faces south. Hydrate before you come out. Tap water is excellent! Please don't bring bottled water. Throw away plastics are a pox on the environment. Electric heat warms in winter NO FIRES IN or ON THIS PROPERTY, ever! Thermal blinds control heat from sun year round. Most important, put your feet up, enjoy the peace of the place & relax! Ahh!
