Our lake home is what you are looking for. Level, sandy beach on a crystal clear, deep lake. Open, sunny floorplan with large windows overlooking the lake. The kitchen, with custom maple cabinets and stainless steel appliances, encourages family and friend gatherings. Informal dining area offers a versatile space for an intimate dinner or a larger family get together. Watch the lake and wildlife in the comfortable livingroom or on the wrap around deck or in the three season porch. The knotty pine interior conveys a warm, inviting feeling.
There's plenty of sleeping room in this home with 2006 sq ft of living space. There are three bedrooms plus additional space in the three season porch or family room on the lower, walk-out level.
Surrounded by tall red and white pines, maple and oak trees, the natural setting ensures privacy and plenty of wildlife viewing. Sit around a crackling fire on a summer evening and listen to the bull frogs and loons.
The beach and dock are just a short walk down a gentle slope from the cabin. After a swim, paddle or a crusie on the pontoon boat you can relax in the three season porch or on the wrap around deck. The fishing is excellent in this clear lake and the only public boat landing allows only non-motorized boats. Our 18' Northwood Pontoon Boat to fish, to swim off of and to cruise is included in the price.
Leader Lake is a 160-acre lake that has a maximum depth of 56 feet and has a hard sand shoreline. According to the DNR, the primary game fish present include northern pike, walleye, largemouth bass, and panfish. Because of the limited public access, fishing pressure from non-residents is light.
LOCAL CALLS, WI-FI, DIRECT TV AND DVR.
The lake home is a 5 miles from Hwy 53. You'll find the basics in nearby Minong or Solon Springs; Superior and Duluth are 45 minutes away. Hayward is 35 miles away. From Minneapolis/St. Paul it's a 2.5 hour drive.

Judy McGinnis purchased this house in 1995
We chose Leader Lake because of the pristine lake and the wonderful fishing.
We enjoy our boats: pontoon, canoe and kayak along with swimming, snorkerling and hiking. The family also enjoys water skiing and tubing. We watch the wildlife which includes loons and eagles. We also have turkeys in the area that are fun to see. The views from anywhere on our land or in our house are beautiful.
We had a great week at John and Judy's cabin! It was clean and well maintained. There was lots to do! We used the pontoon to go fishing and tool around the lake. The lake was clean and the kids (ages 14, 5 and 3) really enjoyed swimming and playing in the sand near the shore (there was even sand toys for the kids to use). We also went canoeing and kayaking. We had fires at night and enjoyed grilling on the two Webers that were there. We really appreciated the sunroom (has 2 twin beds), which is connected to the master bedroom. It was a nice, quiet place for our 3 year old to rest in the afternoons.
For a day trip, we went to Amnicon Falls State Park (which is about 30 minutes north). It was beautiful! We really enjoyed hiking and exploring along the river.
Thanks so much for allowing us to relax and make lots of memories at your cabin! We appreciate it very much!

We are a family of 4 from Colorado. My husband and I are in our 40's and our two daughters are 8 and 10 years old. We grew up in Wisconsin and we were looking to give our girls the Wisconsin lake house experience. This was a great place to do it. The pontoon boat was very nice as well as two canoes and a kayak. We brought two stand up paddle boards as well. The lake was perfect size and temperature for swimming. Great fishing as well. The portage to Bond Lake was fun. Amazing wild life. A bald eagle flew right over our canoes on day out on the lake. Our daughters loved swimming in the lake and fishing. We rented a speed boat for tubing as well. Very fun.
The sun room was perfect for our two daughters to sleep as it had two twin beds. The master upstairs is also very nice. The front bedroom downstairs is very nice as it has nice carpet and a view of lake. The back bedroom downstairs was just basic. When we had extended family come and visit we used all the bedrooms as well as a blow up mattress in the basement walkout room. Lots of great sleeping space.
The family room has a wonderful sectional couch that fits lots of people and is very very comfortable. It is nice having the kitchen, family room and dining space all open so everyone can be together. We watched movies, played games, and puzzles.
The fire pit is nice as well as big outdoor space for ladder ball and badmitten games. The grill is charcoal so bring a lot of charcoal bags. I also recommend coolers with ice on the deck for drinks as the fridge fills up with food quickly. The stove is electric. Nice stainless appliances. Even has satellite TV and wifi.
Overall, this is a beautiful lake and economical accomadations. I loved the close proximity from lake to house. Beautiful sunsets, swimming, and fishing!
We stayed at the cabin in Aug 2015 and loved it. We had 4 adults & 2 kids, age 3 & 6- they really enjoyed the beach, built sand castles, jumping off the dock, playing in the clear water, sand bottom, shallow enough for them. The house was very well stocked, kitchen, towels, games, toys. The kitchen, living room and bedrooms were a very nice size. Plenty of room in the kitchen and lots of comfy couches & chairs in the living room. Views were great and Pontoon was nice and worked well. Judy was great to work with, very accommodating and nice. We would stay again.
We wanted for absolutely nothing during our stay at this lovely, sunny and well appointed home on gorgeous Leader Lake. We visited the property for a weeklong trip with 3 generations. Our days were spent aboard the top-notch pontoon boat (this is included-- amazing considering one could spend $200 or more for one day's pontoon boat rental), swimming, enjoying meals on the wraparound deck, floating around and looking down through the incredibly clear water at the many fish below, hiking in nearby state and county parks and forests (don't miss breathtaking Amnicon Falls!), board games and daydreaming on a couple of rainy days, playing pingpong and (of course) fishing (good fishing off the pier at dusk)! It's a quarter mile from the road to the house, offering a beautiful and secluded place to walk and enjoy sights of wildlife such as wild turkey flocks and deer. Nights were spent listening to the sounds of nature while dropping off to sleep in our comfortable beds. We capped off our trip with an excellent, authentic Northern Wisconsin fish fry in nearby Minong (Longbranch Smokehouse-- you'll love it!). Judy and John were so easy to deal with and communicated readily with us via phone and email. (Speaking of which, the Wi-fi worked perfectly at the lake house.) These are no stress, no drama, honest and helpful home owners! We thank them for their hospitality. We are 100% sure you will enjoy your stay here.
John and Judy have a great place here on a nice little lake. Stayed here with wife and our 2 kids. Kids loved the sandy beach area and swimming off the dock. We all loved taking the boat out for rides and had a great time fishing. Caught quite a few fish all week, nice bass and northerns. Kids loved catching the little pan fish off the dock. Was a great place for all of us. They have a super nice set up that fits the whole family. Stocked with board games and books for those rainy days. Would definitely stay here again.
My children and I vacation at this house whenever possible. It is an inviting, warm house on a beautiful lake. Far enough away to truly relax and be with each other. Close enough to Duluth, Hayward and other areas of interest for fun day trips. The kitchen, living areas and amenities are first rate. It’s called a cabin and is nicer than many residences. This is a place to create many happy memories including climbing trees, bonfires, s’mores for breakfast, swimming in the lake, water fights and water balloon tosses, playing games, tie dying and watching movies all day when it rains.
My children are world travelers and have been places such as Versaille, Berlin, Mexico, London. The memories they talk about whenever we get together? The critter in the canoe, the fireworks over the lake, kayaking around the shore, catching frogs and pushing mom off the pier. Their favorite place to be? Up North at John and Judy’s cabin relaxing, having fun and making new memories!
There is a channel between Leader and Bond Lake. Take a small boat, kayak, canoe and explore not only the channel but the beach, swimming and fishing at Bond Lake.
