This new home features a large, open living space, overlooking the river and the national forest. Five bedrooms accommodate 10 people; upstairs is a private master bedroom suite, two bedrooms sharing a bath on main fl. and two bunk rooms in the basement, with a steam shower bath. The basement also has a play room with pool table and wet bar. Modern kitchen with open dining lends itself to entertaining. Gas barbecue is protected by covered deck for use in both summer or winter. In the summer, enjoy the large, wrap-around deck and in the winter enjoy the comfort of the wood-burning stove. Washer/dryer available. Apartment over garage is occupied, tenant has their own entrance and their are no shared spaces or walls with the main house.
I designed and built this home in 2006. I have long been interested in energy-efficient homes that blend into the land. This house accomplishes this by being nestled on one side by a creek and another by a running river. Opening the doors, fills the house with the sound of running water.
This property has the privacy and serenity afforded by it's location.
We are located close to several ski areas. We are close to the Vt. Country Store and Manchester, well-known for the outlet stores there. Not far from the Appalachian Trail, hiking abounds! Swim in a marble quarry, visit a working farm, go to Weston for theater! Whatever your interest, you'll find it nearby!
The house exceeded our expectations and the location couldn't have
been better. It is close to Bromley Mountain for downhill skiing, Wild
Wings for cross country skiing and yoga classes in the early morning,
to the supermarket and restaurants in Londonderry and to Manchester
for shopping. The owners couldn't be nicer to work with. We
definitely look forward to coming back!
Your home was the perfect place for our family ski vacation. The setting gives that true Vermont feel with the brook, tall pine trees, and wraparound deck. We loved the large open living space with big windows, high ceiling, and easy to use wood stove with plenty of available wood. The kitchen was beautiful with lots of counter space and a dining table to fit the entire family. The three levels gave us all our own space and bathroom. For many years we have skied Bromley Mountain as our children grew and stayed with our friends in Sherwood Forest. They sold their place many years ago and we couldn't be happier to be back there now with our grown children and grandchildren. Your place was perfect to keep this tradition going! Thank you!!
This house was great and Helga was very helpfull. 10 of us stayed over the weekend and everyone had a great time. Everyone got a bed and it's located in the middle of 3 mountains so you have your pick! The house is gorgeous, full kitchen with everything you need and 3 showers all with 2 shower heads each! Anyone will love this house! We can't wait to come back!
Helga and John have created a peaceful sanctuary within easy driving to many attractions; Manchester, Stratton, Bromley, Weston, Chester, etc. It is located a few houses off the main road, so you aren't spending time driving miles and miles into the woods; convenient but still private.
Our extended family spent the Columbus Day weekend here, and everyone had a WONDERFUL time. We didn't want to leave and all want to go back again.
True to the other reviews, the house is large, clean, and perfect for a getaway. The pictures on the websites don't do it justice, the house is LARGE but comfortable. With 8 people spread out on 3 levels, we never felt we were crowded. People were able to "get away" from the others if they wanted to read, nap, play pool, or just enjoy the views. The kitchen is modern and open to the living/dining areas, is stocked with all sorts of cookware, and even includes an instant-hot-water dispenser - great for a cup of tea. Even though the house is in a "neighborhood", it is situated so that the windows look out into the woods and nature, and if you open the sliders you can hear the brook and smell the pines! WONDERFUL!
All 8 of us would recommend this beautiful home.
Thank you to Helga and John for sharing your bit of paradise with others!
I stayed here over Martin Luther weekend with a total of 10 adults and 1 child. There is plenty of room and clean bathrooms to accommodate us all. Moreover, the owner is pet friendly and even offered us a spare crate for our dog. The kitchen is fully loaded and has a great lay-out. The wood fire gave a great atmosphere and we were very comfortable. There are even board games in the cupboard and epic skiing dvds to watch.
Overall, this home was one of the best experiences I have had with renting.
The bed sheets smelled like dryer sheets, the bathrooms were clean, and Mrs. Morrell did her very best to make sure we were comfortable in her home with her quick and thorough communications.
Given the opportunity, I will rent here again.
Beautiful house in Londonderry, 10 minutes to the mountains, close to restaurants. House is the perfect place to go with friends or family, sleeping for 10, pool table downstairs, wood burning stove. Looking forward to going back.
We stayed at this house the first week of February amongst all the winter storms that hit New England bringing nearly 3 feet of snow during the week! It was a wonderful location for our family vacation, being about 25 minutes from Stratton. While we didn't have difficulty getting around, we did have to park at the top of the driveway since we didn't have 4 wheel drive, even though they have someone plow the driveway regularly. However, the driveway did get used as a sledding area as it does have a decent slope to it.
The house is beautiful and has many amenities to enjoy, including key (small) kitchen appliances such as coffee pot, wine opener, and crock pot to use. The fireplace/wood burner helped keep the house warm since it was only 5 degrees average during our stay. The open layout of the main room allowed plenty of room for our toddler to run about and play while we cooked dinner and relaxed. Lots of open windows to enjoy the natural light and wooded views from the house. Helga was very nice to work with and made sure we got settled in upon arriving. We highly recommend this property and look forward to returning next time we decide to visit Stratton.
