Mount Desert Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Ocean/mountain views, peaceful, natural landscape, Sleeps 8, stone fireplace

We love where we live & what we do and it shows! Seascape is a quaint seasonal cottage set amidst natural landscaping with spectacular views of Somes Sound, the only natural 'Fjard' on the East Coast and beautiful Sargent mountain. Relax in the most private setting (no neighbors around you to be seen) while you sip your coffee on the spacious deck and enjoy the great views, watch the deer grazing all around you and soak in the tranquility. Seascape has 3 lovely bedrooms, a sleeping loft and two bathrooms. It will comfortably accommodate a total of 8, maximum 6 adults. It is delicately appointed with new and antique furnishings. This property provides you with everything you could possibly need. Just bring your toothbrush! The beautiful Granite fireplace is a perfect setting for cooler evenings. On the first floor there is a galley kitchen opening up to the cathedral-beamed dining room/living room open floor plan with floor to ceiling double sliding glass doors to the deck and your beautiful view. Beautiful carpeting throughout for our 2016 season. There is a bedroom on the first level with a queen sized bed, as well as a second bedroom with two twin sized beds, both with brand new memory foam-gel infused mattresses. There is also a 1st floor bathroom with a tub and shower combination. Travel up the stairs to the sleeping loft which offers a twin day bed and twin trundle unit. Finally enter the Master bedroom suite, also with a queen sized bed , which leads to the full bathroom with a stall-shower unit. Perfect for two families traveling together or a family that would like to bring their extended family. There is a washer and dryer on the 1st floor for your convenience. This is a three season property, which allows for us the great exposed beam look. We are minutes to Acadia National Park's great hiking and biking trails, as well as Echo Lake Beach. We are also within 8 miles of downtown Bar Harbor and everything that our beautiful Island has to offer, without having to endure the crowds and noise of staying downtown. Take a stroll in front of our cottage, which will lead you to one of our previously worked quarries. Please visit our other properties: Listing #4165895 Sound View sleeps 12 also in Hall Quarry. Listing # 3900896 Lilac Lane sleeps 8 or Listing # 3901266 Harbor View sleeps 4 both in the Village of Northeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island

Fantastic location! We had the best time and the location is great for exploing the entire island.

A great time and the property was nicely equipped with everything needed for a pleasant stay. An easy drive to all areas of the island. Great views and very clean. The only issue that we had was sometimes there was an unpleasant smell on the deck. I assume this was coming form the septic system. Other than that, we could not have been more pleased with our stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice review. I am sorry you had to endure an unpleasant odor occasionally. I was surprised by this, as it isn't possible it is the septic system. I decided to check it out with my ultra sensitive nose and unfortunately found a a deceased bunny that a fox had gotten to in the woods to the side of the deck. He has mercifully been laid to rest.

Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

It is hard to say what we enjoyed most about the cottage, it seemed like home while we were there, and in fact it could be called home being that we stayed at the same cottage during the same time in July 2001. We rented from the previous owner during that time. It was great to see the improvements that Erica and Randy had made to the property which only added to the enjoyment of our time there. Over the last 15 years we have vacationed at a lot of different locations throughout the states East of the Mississippi from the North to the South of the US. During the last 15 years we never stayed in a location that was as thoroughly equipped and supplied from the Kitchen, Baths, and Bedrooms there has always something at the locations that we had to purchase during our stay, But not at this location, there was a more than adequate supply of items that we needed for our stay. The view, deer, chipmunks, squirrels and privacy was just as we had remembered it from 2001. If you had the desire to go to Maine for a vacation we would highly recommend this Location.

Gorgeous view of Somes Sound, convenient MDI location

  • 4 of 5

The great room/dining room are lovely, with attractive furniture, new carpeting, and two sets of glass sliders looking out on a beautiful view of the Sound. The deck was quite nice, with sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon. Bedrooms and sleeping loft were furnished nicely and beds were comfortable. Owners were pleasant to deal, brought us firewood on one cold, rainy day, and live nearby in case you have any problems (we did not). Internet and cell phone service (we have Verizon) was very good.

Couple of things that I didn't anticipate: The heat builds up quickly on a warm day. Certainly didn't expect A/C in Maine, but we could not use the upstairs bedroom or sleeping loft between about noon and 7 PM (for a nap, to read, etc.) as it was simply too hot. Once it was dark outside, the house did cool off quickly, so sleeping was not a problem, and there were several box fans provided.

The stall shower on the second floor is tiny. There is no door to the 2nd floor bathroom, just a curtain as you enter from the bedroom; combined with the uninsulated walls, that means limited privacy. Also, due to the pitched roof, you need to take care not to bang your head on the exposed beams in a portion of the loft and upstairs bedroom ceilings.

Seascape is in a perfect location with great views and easy access to all the delights the island has to offer. The WIFI and Direct TV were very well appreciated when other activities were unavailable. The kitchen, grille, washer and dryer and number of beds made it easy to entertain our guests and allowed it to be truly a family affair.

We especially appreciated the pet allowance and the company of our dog you provided. Everything was clean and well organized and made us feel right at home. We highly recommend Seascape to others and look forward to staying there in the future. We especially enjoy hiking and sterling views from mountaintops and the sights and sounds of the sea plus the variety of eateries available such as the Trenton Lobster pound and a good ole sub sandwich at EPi's .

You can't go wrong at Seascape in Hall Quarry!
