Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ryan's lovely condo in the Aspen Core. It is perfectly situated as a base for enjoying Aspen's fine restaurants and shops. The deck and hot tub offer a fabulous view of Ajax (Aspen Mountain) over the Hyman pedestrian mall but with plenty of privacy. The kitchen is well equipped and modern. Beds are comfortable. Be prepared for the 3 flights of stairs, a bit of a challenge until you get acclimated to the altitude. Bathrooms are basic with plenty of hot water. It is very convenient to the Ruby Park bus area for free shuttles to Snowmass, Buttermilk and Aspen Highlands. There is a fun disco in the basement of the building, but, thankfully, noise is minimal on the 3rd floor. Ellina's restaurant, 2 doors away, is one of the best. Ryan was a great host and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable.
If you do not need to be in a ski in/out location, this cannot be beat! Highly recommended!
The owner Ryan was responsive from first communication and flexible in our arrival. After being shown our parking spot, which we later found out was the next spot over and had to move the car, and offered help with our bags we settled into our stay. After dropping our son off for ski school we came back to get ready for our first day on the mountain, only to find a guy in our room. He stated he was from comcast and need to do some work in the unit. I explained it wasn't a good time as we need to shower and get to the mountain, he said he couldn't come back and that if we wanted to have internet he would have to finish. I explained i didn't care about the internet and needed to get ready to ski. He was unwilling to leave. After his work was finished he left and i subsequently received a message from the owner about the unannounced comcast visit. On our first dinner we discovered that the garbage disposal was very loud and didn't seem to work very well. I grew up and lived for most of my life in nyc so i'm used to putting up with a certain amount of discomfort/annoyances, so i didn't think it worth complaining about, we just worked around it. Then came our first overnite in the unit. The nightclub downstairs was booming music while we were trying to get to sleep, we were aware of the nightclub from a previous review that mentioned it and stated that it was not a problem. However, i did inquire about it in an email with the owner prior to booking and was assured the club music wouldn't be a problem. It being saturday nite i figured it would pass. However, the music continued all week long. Finally i emailed the owner and asked if something could be done about the music. He responded by informing me the dj's changed daily and that he would ensure we weren't disturbed. For one night the bass seemed lower although still did wake me up. I was surprised at how easily i was disturbed by the music, I've lived in nyc for many years and never had a problem with noise. This was a pounding vibrating thumping that varied i assume from the beat of he music. However, the reprieve was short lived. The next evening the music returned to its previous levels.
If you're coming to aspen to party it probably won't bother you but if you come for the skiing and value your sleep you may be disappointed.
Other than these issues aspen is a great ski town if not a bit on the expensive side. However, the terrain is wonderful and if you get bored wit
This was the perfect property for our stay in Aspen. We had two couples sharing the unit and wanted a private central location within walking distance to everywhere in Aspen and this was spot on. The unit is simple, compact and relatively sparse but clean and contemporary. Flat screen TV was great, stereo system sounded good, connects via headphone jack to any device - a little old school but worked fine. The rooftop hot tub was perfect for apres ski and was the best part of the unit - it is completely private and due to the setup of the unit, there was very little chance of upsetting neighbors with talking in the hot tub later at night since the patio opened only to the pedestrian mall. The bar downstairs is one of our favorite night spots in Aspen and it was great to have it steps away - we didn't have any problems with bar noise but we also did not go to bed until past bar closing each night. Only constructive feedback was that we couldn't locate dishwasher soap for the dishwasher and some of the glassware in the cabinets needed a quick hand wash before use but in the grand scheme that is a minor issue. Everything else was generally clean and well stocked/maintained, photos and description were accurate, and the manager Ryan was very responsive to all questions within minutes and was flexible with our checkout which was much appreciated. We definitely hope to stay here again on future visits to Aspen!
We were two couples in town for a wedding. The place could'nt have been located any better. Walking distance from everything you would want to do in Aspen. The downstairs night club was lots of fun and the roof top jacuzzi made for a perfect winter setting to wrap up an evening. Will be staying here again!
Just back from a great vacation in Aspen. This place is right in the centre of town not far from restaurants, shops and of course Ajax mountain. Highlights would be having an afternoon jacuzzi overlooking the mountain on your private patio every afternoon, great entertainment system for a movie after a long day skiing and a kitchen capabale of cooking many a feast... The owners are very helpful and also own the club downstairs which involved some of the best nights we had all week. A great time had by all and expect to be back!
