Awesome place for a group!
The home is in a great area of the Irish Channel.....close to many restaurants and shopping. Short walks to the parade route during Mardi Gras and the Street Car line. Our group loved this house, plenty of room, well decorated and a very nice living area for us all to join in for meals. The neighborhood is well balanced with beautiful traditional New Orleans shot gun homes. We will definitely be looking into this rental again for future Mardi Gras trips!
Great home in an ideal location!
Conveniently located to New Orleans attractions but in a quiet neighborhood.
Hosts were responsive and the house had all of the amenities of home. We will be back to this house next trip to New Orleans.
The house was very roomy, quiet and comfortable. Parking for two cars was tight. The front of house without clear address and looks different than picture.
Deceptive and Disappointing
Eventually we all feel slightly taken advantage of. This property was very well misrepresented, photos from the best possible angles and the staging was top notch!
We were fortunate that half of the people that were supposed to share this property had to back out or we would have (6) very poor reviews on the same property.
First, this is a cool old house with a fresh coat of paint on the inside and an updated kitchen. The appliances were nice and the basic dishes, glassware, utensils and cookware got us through - that's it for the plus side.
Front door is so out of square it is hard to open or close and it wouldn't take any effort to walk through it when it is locked. The house has (2) a/c systems and only one is hooked up, when they re-did the electrical, they didn't even have power for the second system. The loft area has a window shaker that is so loud, you couldn't sleep with it running - you couldn't sleep with it off or you would bake and/or sweat to death. I went through the house and replaced at least (9) light bulbs - no extras in the house. Toilet paper dispensers in all 3 bathrooms were broken and falling off the walls, towel bars didn't exist.
The couch - a pull-out was so broken down that we had to use the throw pillows for cushions. The dining room chairs - 3 out of 6 were broken and not useable. The side doors from the house to the outside did not have thresholds or sweeps - we sat and watched the cockroaches run inside as soon as it was dark (yes, we blocked the openings on the second night). Most of the amenities in the listing didn't work - jetted tub, sauna (have to buy propane), BBQ etc.
To cap the whole experience off - we had to file a claim with VRBO to get our deposit back from the Owner who would not respond to email, return phone calls or messages. Thank you VRBO for getting our deposit returned and having a system in place for dealing with these types of issues.
Cute place and great location!
This was a great location and a quick walk to Magazine St, St. Charles Av. and breweries along the river. Clean and plenty of space. We really enjoyed our stay!
clean house but a little disapointing
This is hard to review. The house overall was clean, but it is also well used. We expected something a little nicer for what we paid. My wife and I felt like we stayed at a Motel 6, but paid for a Holiday Inn. However, it’s possible what we paid is the going rate in this location for a no frills 3 bedroom house. All I have to compare it to is that we stayed in a different VRBO 2 years ago that was a few miles further away from the French Quarter and we paid about 1/3 more but that house was much bigger and nicer than this one.
This house had plenty of room for my family of six. The rooms were not big but accommodating. The furniture was well used and not very comfortable. The back patio area was small and could use some work.
When we first arrived we started making a list of things we found that were broken or not working properly. We ended up with a fairly long list, like ceiling fans either not working or noisy, whicker dining chairs broken or too flimsy, light bulbs burned out, refrigerator door handle very loose, stair railing loose and more. There were even bags of trash and recyclables in the back yard. I contacted the property manager to report these things and she apologized saying we wouldn’t be held responsible and we weren’t.
We also had problems with the wifi. It was very spotty. We contacted the property manager and she apologized but didn’t know how to fix it. We had to call the internet provider to get it working again. It lasted one day and stopped working again.
The house was sparse as far as amenities. The available pans and cooking utensils were minimal, but we made due. Also, in the master bedroom there was a closet but no dresser. Someplace to put clothes and things in a drawer would have been nice.
The location is pretty good and in an interesting neighborhood. Several of the houses looked very run down and unkempt. But there would be very nice well kept houses right next to them. It is just a couple blocks from Magazine Street. There were interesting shops and restaurants close by. It seemed to be a pretty safe area. We saw people walking around even in the evenings.
Overall, we were a little disappointed in this house. It has potential, but as a previous renter commented, it needs some TLC. I’m giving it a 3 rating because I’m trying to be fair. It was very average in my opinion.
