A beautiful house set on a lush hillside overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Flambeau House is the perfect getaway for couples, small or large families and groups seeking the ideal West Indian lifestyle. Mahogany floors, high airy ceilings and spacious balconies overlook the villas private pool and barbeque area. Set in an acre of fruit trees and flowers, it is a nature lover's paradise. The main living room opens on two sides onto the spacious balcony which has an outdoor dining area - an ideal place to enjoy the spectacular sunsets. The main main bedroom is air conditioned with an en suite bathroom and a walk in closet. The two guest bedrooms share a large bathroom and shower. All bedrooms have french doors which open onto the balcony and have a sea view. The nearest beach is only a 5 minute walk, or a 10 minute walk takes you to Windjammer Landings beach resort where you can dine in its restaurant or drink in its bars.
The house is very pretty and private. They didn't seem totally ready for us when we arrived (no one was there with keys, water wasn't turned on) but staff were friendly and helpful. We LOVED the private chef who was recommended and are so glad we hired her to cook for us! Extra towels would have been nice, as well as some blankets in the bedrooms.
It has been a few days since we returned to the cold and we are all missing the wonderful time we shared in Saint Lucia and at Flambeau House. The accommodations themselves, the proximity to Windjammer, the wonderful food and people of Saint Lucia will be remembered fondly forever. I would give Flambeau House and Saint Lucia as a whole two very enthusiastic thumbs up. Thanks for everything Leslie.
Amazing place! We had never been to the Caribbean so we did not really know what to expect, but the whole place exceeded our expectations by a million miles. The listing on the homeaway website was accurate, and the layout was the same pretty much as depicted, and it was clean and well maintained, although the garden was a touch dry here and there but we were told that there had been no rain for ages and in fact it did not rain at all except for once or twice in the night, so I think Vincent did an awesome job to keep it as green as it was. It was like a little oasis of heaven, a little slice of heaven where we just completely unwound and relaxed. We ate our breakfast out in the manicured little garden above the pool and there were lots and lots of hummingbirds to keep us company! All around the little mown lawn and hedges of ficus (i think!?) at the back were huge trees as there are no houses above the villa, so it was so peaceful and magical. I really wish we could buy the place and live there forever (pipe dream again!). Leslie was very kind and courteous and did offer to arrange a few tours of the island although we never got around to doing any of that as we just ended up swimming in the pool and totally flopping around. We will surely do some touring next time as the few locals (the taxi driver and the check-out girls at the grocery stores) were charming. There are some basic groceries when you arrive but you do have to get to the shop to stock up on the things you want. Overall my husband and I look back on our stay with such fond memories and we can't wait to come back. It was so so lovely. The customer service was great and it was easy to book and sort all that boring stuff out. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to de-stress and enjoy a wonderful and regenerating holiday in a beautiful place. The little beach about 5 minutes away was also gorgeous. Overall it was a wonderful experience we can't wait to repeat! Thank you to Vincent and Leslie!!
Stayed a week with family and friends. The listing description and location were accurate. The property was clean and well maintained and the owner was always available and helpful. It was perfect for our group of 8 as we tend to shop and cook (great BBQ) for ourselves on vacations like this. Grocery stores close by in Rodney Bay and local restaurants (Laurels) were good as well. Bedrooms well air conditioned and WiFi was a plus for us. Having our own pool was wonderful.
Beach at the Windjammer was only a minute away and was very safe. Scuba dove with Steve's Scuba and they picked us up at Windjammer dock which was excellent. We would dive with them again as the service and professionalism was excellent.
Minor drawback at the house was the lack of water pressure in the shower and the need for a dishwasher that worked. Needs a new coffee maker and a bigger variety of cooking pans if you plan on doing your own meals Having said that, we would definitely stay here again. Leslie (owner) was attentive and dependable. Oh yeah, house comes with a groundskeeper and housekeeping comes in once a week (both excellent).
Can't fault the property at all. Spotless.
Very welcoming and catered for any need. Felt like everyone wanted us to enjoy our stay.
Ideal family getaway.
We found the property to be very well laid out with more than enough room for the four of us. The wrap around deck was a wonderful area for morning coffee/breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a place to sit, relax and visit. Although the view of the ocean was a bit limited, it was a great place to watch ships and boats pass (remember to bring binoculars). The pool was also a very nice area to relax.
Although the house was cleaned twice a week, we found that it didn't meet our "standards" back home. There was a lot of mold and mildew in the shower stall... I cleaned it, as well as the other bathroom, with some bleach that I found in the kitchen. There were burned out lights that had not been replaced; the fire extinguisher was empty and the dishwasher was broken and did not work for the entire week that we were there. We also had to buy our own dish soap.
We enjoyed the privacy of the property but the silence was often broken by barking dogs. This was more of a problem during the night and early morning... when we were in bed.
We did rent a car and found our way around the island without much difficulty. The other drivers were much more courteous than drivers back home in the USA. Gasoline is expensive... EU $3.75/liter.
Groceries are also quite expensive as is eating out.
Lastly, we would like to thank Leslie for a surprise Valentine's Day dinner. It was wonderful!
Flambeau House is 5 minutes south of Rodney Bay, which offers fantastic dining and nightlife, as well as supermarkets, banks, health and dental clinics, and good general shopping. Within Rodney Bay is the main St Lucian Marina, offering all sea based activity - day and sunset cruises as well as whale and dolphin watching tours and deep sea fishing trips. Five minutes walk (or 1 minute by car!) away is a lovely unspoiled beach which is perfect for morning swimming or beach barbeques. Ten minutes walk away (or two minutes by car!) is Windjammer Landing Resort, which has world-class amenities from massage treatments to watersports to fine dining.
