About Owner/Property Manager
We were born in Costa Rica of foreign descent, schooled here but lived in Wisconsin for 14 years. Recently we moved back to our farm to host guests at our 2 cabins. The view is so spectacular and big that we wanted to share it this way. We used to have a Bed and Breakfast in San Jose, Costa Rica. This is so much nicer!!
Owner/Property Manager purchased this Cabin in 1990
Why Owner/Property Manager chose Turrialba
Your hosts are both bilingual Costa Ricans. The area we came to live in is far from the hustle and bustle of the city, we wanted to live in the clean, quiet, colourful mountains of the Turrilaba area. We have owned our farm for 24 years and have been part of the community from the beginning. The persons that work on the farm are locals and have been with us from day one. We offer a completely different outlook of Costa Rican scenery and life.
What makes this Cabin unique
Our cabins were created to offer our guests the ability to disconnect and completely relax. However, we completely understand that in our digital era it is sometimes necessary to stay in touch with the rest of the world and we therefore offer free high speed wifi in all of our cabins. We have built the cabins with our harvested lumber and are keeping our impact on our environment to a minimum. We recycle, compost and use rain water for all our needs. Each cabin comes equipped with filtered drinking water, a small fridge and coffee maker. Each cabin also has a front porch with breathtaking views of the Turrialba valley and the majestic Turrialba and Irazu volcanos. As the volcano is currently active, you can witness smoke plumes floating from the top of the volcano. We offer horseback rides with our guide. He has developed various routes in the area, all levels of experience. Our most popular ride is the one that takes you into birdwatching areas, sitting on the horse and not having to worry about walking gives you a great opportunity to see so much more. Drink from our natural spring and see how we are a major part of the water shed that supplies the town below us. We offer meals made mostly with organic vegetables and fruits from a local small farmers coop. We can help schedule white water rafting on the pristine Pacuare River. We encourage you to come with enough time to enjoy all we offer. We look forward to having you as a guest.

INCREDIBLE!!! The cabin was perfect! Comfortable bed and you can see volcano Turrialba from the bed.
We were here for 10 days and loved every minute! Annette is a gracious host & a fabulous cook. Loved eating meals in her glass dining room & enjoyed visiting with her and learning so much about this beautiful country.
We could sit and look at volcano Turrialba for hours and the lights at night is breath taking!!!
You must stay here :)
Our stay at torre Alta was wonderful! I wish I could stay.
Annette went above and beyond to make sure our experience was good. From cooking wonderful meals to booking our rafting trip with the best guides to helping us find a doctor. The property is beautiful-and the cabin cozy. The view is incredible and so beautiful at night. It’s like looking down at a city at night from an airplane way up there! The road is slow going but so worth it.
Charming mountain top cabins!
If you are planning to stay in Turrialba, you must stay here! The owners, Annette and Harry, are fantastic hosts, the food was amazing, and the views spectacular. Every morning we had coffee on the deck, listened to the birds, and watched the volcano erupting. Annette and Harry can assist you in setting up any tours or trips you may want to do on your stay. We went zip lining, white water rafting, and took a horseback ride tour with their caretaker Walter. They have an amazing place and you would not regret staying here.
Secluded, quiet, relaxing
annette the owner was amazing! The breakfast she cooked was perfect. We are going back and are going to get the recipe. The lodge was clean, quiet, and had amazing views! Getting there from San Jose was easy and relatively quick. If you are driving, the last leg of the journey is an adventure that you absolutely need four wheel drive for.
Don't hesitate...go now!
What a beautiful location with the most hospitable hostess, Annette! Can't say enough good things about this place! The view is breathtaking...we watched Turrialba's plume of smoke erupt each morning over coffee. It is so secluded and you must have a 4x4 to get up the mountain to the lodge. The food was wonderful...we paid $15 pp per meal for dinner and it was delicious. We will be back!
Beautiful mountain top getaway. Hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. Road in is pretty rough, recommend 4WD but it is very worth it.
