About Owner/Property Manager
We were born in Costa Rica of foreign descent, schooled here but lived in Wisconsin for 14 years. Recently we moved back to our farm to host guests at our 2 cabins. The view is so spectacular and big that we wanted to share it this way. We used to have a Bed and Breakfast in San Jose, Costa Rica. This is so much nicer!!
Owner/Property Manager purchased this Cabin in 1990
Why Owner/Property Manager chose Pavones
Your hosts are both bilingual Costa Ricans. The area we came to live in is far from the hustle and bustle of the city, we wanted to live in the clean, quiet, colourful mountains of the Turrilaba area. We have owned our farm for 24 years and have been part of the community from the beginning. The persons that work on the farm are locals and have been with us from day one. We offer a completely different outlook of Costa Rican scenery and life.
What makes this Cabin unique
Our cabins were created to offer our guests the ability to disconnect and completely relax. However, we completely understand that in our digital era it is sometimes necessary to stay in touch with the rest of the world and we therefore offer free high speed wifi in all of our cabins. We have built the cabins with our harvested lumber and are keeping our impact on our environment to a minimum. We recycle, compost and use rain water for all our needs. Each cabin comes equipped with filtered drinking water, a small fridge and coffee maker. Each cabin also has a front porch with breathtaking views of the Turrialba valley and the majestic Turrialba and Irazu volcanos. As the volcano is currently active, you can witness smoke plumes floating from the top of the volcano. We offer horseback rides with our guide. He has developed various routes in the area, all levels of experience. Our most popular ride is the one that takes you into birdwatching areas, sitting on the horse and not having to worry about walking gives you a great opportunity to see so much more. Drink from our natural spring and see how we are a major part of the water shed that supplies the town below us. We offer meals made mostly with organic vegetables and fruits from a local small farmers coop. We can help schedule white water rafting on the pristine Pacuare River. We encourage you to come with enough time to enjoy all we offer. We look forward to having you as a guest.

Incredible, words can’t describe!
This place is incredibly beautiful and Serene. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed daily breakfast and a dinner as well. Annette is a great cook, everything was delicious. The ride up is like riding a mechanical bull, don’t bother if you don’t have a 4x4 vehicle. If you do have one, it’s a ton of fun! Must stay! You won’t regret it!!
Serene, Delicious Food, Incredible Views
Our short but wonderful stay here was picture perfect! The cabins are beautifully designed and decorated, very comfortable and spacious, with views that can't be beat. The grounds are perfectly maintained and Annette was an excellent host. She cooked us two delicious, healthy dinners and breakfasts, and even fed us lunch since we arrived on easter holiday when everything in town was closed. We also did not have a four wheel drive vehicle which is necessary, so she graciously drove us to and from our car that we left in town.
Overall, a perfect retreat if you want to enjoy the views, the birds, and the wildlife. It was also a very welcome break for us temperature wise- I definitely enjoyed the slightly cooler weather the mountains provided, especially in the evenings.
Would love to come back and stay longer!
Wow! Idyllic place to get away from it all.
My husband and I loved our stay here. We only stayed one night as we were driving across the country to the Caribbean side, but it was heavenly! We loved how attentive our hosts were. We were blown away by their impressive cooking talent. They accommodated our gluten-free/vegan diet and our meals (dinner & breakfast) were absolutely wonderful!
Lots of nice walking trails to explore. The view is breathtaking. And yes -- a 4 x 4 vehicle and steady nerves are essential to making the drive up and down the mountain. Don't forget to enjoy a cup of coffee on the porch of your cabin!

Thanks for finding us! Love having you.
This place is the perfect cozy retreat. Annette and Harry were wonderful hosts and we immediately felt at home when we arrived. The meals were great - I would highly recommend having dinner there! We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is cozy and so well decorated it felt like something out of a movie or magazine! You could not find a better place in Turrialba.
Thanks for the lovely review and for finding us!!!
Great place, great food, great hosts.
Thanks for coming!!
Annette is a wonderful hostess and the cabin provides all you could need. We only spent one night there while travelling through Costa Rica, but I could have stayed on the porch drinking in the view forever!! WiFi is excellent and the cabin has the best shower we had in 5 weeks of travelling. Both the dinner and breakfast Annette prepared were excellent and served with hospitality. We would definitely stay here again!!
Thanks for the lovely review. Come anytime!!
