About the property

2BR/2BA Ocean Front Condo in Quiet but Convenient North Akumal - Paradise

Come enjoy the quiet side of the Riviera Maya at Casa Q our updated 2BR/2BA condo on the North end of Half Moon Bay in Akumal. The ocean is right out your front door with beach chairs and palapas and a walkway right onto the reef protected Half Moon Bay. If fresh water is what you desire there is a lovely ocean front plunge pool right outside our front door or you can sit and read a book beside the Garden pool surrounded by lush gardens carefully tended by the meticulous and dedicated staff.

Casa Q has 2 King Bedrooms both of which have comfy mattresses, fret linens, AC and great cross breezes as well as views of the Bay without getting out of bed. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with en-suite access with one also having access from the main condo living area. The condo is on the first floor so there are no stairs to climb.

While there are many good places to eat in Akumal and the surrounding area, should you wish to cook, the Kitchen has been updated with everything you need to cook a great meal including quality cookware and all of the gadgets you need to cook a simple breakfast to a gourmet meal. The kitchen was recently updated with new Coastal Cottage Cabinets, a double apron front farm sink and butcher block counters. Coffee, juice and milk are provided upon arrival. We also keep the kitchen stocked with cooking basics such as flour, sugar, spices and cooking oils.

With the ocean and pools you may never want to leave Casa Q but when you do you are walking distance to World Famous Yal Ku Lagoon for great snorkeling. For the more seasoned snorkeler Half Moon Bay is a treat though the current, wave action and shallowness of the reef make it less suitable for beginners. And for those that want to swim or snorkel with sea turtles, Casa Q is just 1.5km from Akumal Bay by foot, bike, golf cart or car.

Restaurants close by include Que Onda (Home Made Pasta) , La Lunita (Barefoot feet in the sand fine dining), La Buena Vida (Great food and a beach bar with swings for stools). In town are also Turlte Bay Cafe and Bakery (Great Stickey Buns), Lol Ha, Cueva de Pescaador, Imeldas and the Loncheria Akumalito

We are also 10 minutes to the pueblo of Chemuyil, 15 minutes from Puerto Aventuras, 20 minutes from the Ruins at Tulum and 30 minutes from Playa del Carmen. The Cancun International Airport is just 75 minutes away and there are several options for transfers. Just ask.

Daily housekeeping is included in your rate as is the use of 2 Wilderness Systems Sit-On-Top Sea Kayaks.

What makes this condo unique

We are in the quiet north side of Akumal. With the reef right out front and Yal Ku just a short walk away, we are a snorkelers dream. Sweet place

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from this condo. We had a REALLY GREAT time. The condo is very nice and fully stocked with most things you will need. Plenty of room, comfy beds and clean. Great place for a quiet beach fix. We all four loved it ALOT. It is just steps from the ocean and the town is quiet and fun. Lots of good resturants and beautiful beaches without all of the maddening crowds. The people were very friendly. I highly recommend it!!!!!!

Absolutely Love this place!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying at Casa Q & La Iguana. The first time was so amazing we had to come back (because our teenage kids kept begging us). It felt like we were coming home. Located at the end of the cobblestone street this condo is quiet and private. Just a 5 minute walk from Yal Ku and snorkeling as well as reef snorkeling right out your door in Half Moon Bay. Very relaxing and such an amazing view right from the condo. We explored different places this year though we did go back to Yal Ku again and rent a palapa for the day. We swam with turtles at Akumal Bay then enjoyed a cool dip in Grand Cenote near Tulum. The next day we ventured inland to Valladolid to check out Ek Balam and Chichen Itza. Both were amazing, especially in a thunderstorm. Seemed oddly appropriate. Once back in Akumal we headed to Xcacel Playa just a few miuntes away. Beautiful and quiet, take a cooler with food and drinks and spend the day. Our last couple days it was stormy though it didn't even matter, even the storm was beautiful. We laughed at our good fortune, walked on the beach, splashed in puddles and swam in the warm pool. Excellent food everywhere, the owners book has many great suggestions. There is just so much to see and do in this area it is impossible to see it all in one trip or two trips or three trips. Looks like we will have to go back!

Best VRBO experience!

  • 5 of 5

Where do I begin? I've been going through VRBO for years and have usually had great-decent experience. Staying at this condo has topped all of our vacations for a number of reasons...

1. Bruce, the owner, has been responsive and helpful in a timely manner. A++ for excellent customer service, even after hours. Check out the purple binder upon arrival. There's a lot of great info provided that may have prevented me from reaching out to Bruce so many times. Regardless, Bruce was always pleasant and quick to respond even when he was on his own vacation!

2. This condo has everything! My boyfriend and I brought our 20, 21, 22 yr old kids. There are 2 kayaks, 2 bikes, some snorkeling gear, a hair dryer (you won't need it but it's available), a full kitchen, stove top, microwave, refrigerator, kitchen utensils, some seasonings to cook with, and huge water bottle (necessity in hot weather!) We kept refilling our water bottles in an effort to not use so many water bottles, and putting them in the refrigerator the night before. With all of the activities from kayaking in front of the condo, to swimming in the cenotes and beaches, drinking water is your best friend.

2. There are restaurants near by that serve fresh seafood...I am from O'ahu, Hawai'i...I know my seafood and never thought I cared for tako (octopus)...Wrong!!! I had octopus ceviche twice and it was tender, delicious, to die for!

3. This is an incredible place to visit. There is so much history and beauty. The cenotes are endless. We only had time to swim in 2 cenotes, both experiences were different. The beaches are breathtaking - white sand, warm inviting water...What more can you ask for ? We also took a ferry to Isle de Cozumel, or Cozumel island, and went snorkeling. Again, I'm from Hawai'i so my expectations are through the roof when it comes to water sports, eating fresh seafood, etc. The reef was so clear and our pictures looked so good with all of the fish swimming by that it looks like a postcard.

4. The weather is hot and humid here...like Hawai'i weather. You will probably take more than 1 shower a day or jump into the ocean or cenote to cool down. This condo has air conditioning! We typically weren't at the condo during the day as we were exploring other places like Tulum, etc, but it's nice to turn the AC on at the end of the day.

5. There is a cleaning crew that comes in daily except for Sundays.

I can go on and on but you will just have to see for yourself.

3/12-22, 2017 Great Time at Casa Q

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Casa Q. As everyone mentioned the beds were very comfortable and Hector was most accommodating and Andrea cleaned as expected. We tried the bikes for maybe 2 days and weren't comfortable because of the rocky roads and the distance into Akumal Bay so we rented a golf cart. It was great to have since we didn't have a car. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the water pressure was so low and you really didn't get much hot water. The other frustrating thing was the TV (husband is a junky) buffering a lot and having a difficult time figuring it out. But who needs TV when you're in paradise. Enjoyed meeting other families. Husband said the best part of vacation was the dining. It didn't seem to matter where we ate, we had great food and very inexpensive. The ceviche misto at Lol-Ha was exceptional (ate there twice) and the BBQ Chicken Sandwich at Turtle Bay was the tops. Terrific Andulasian Fritters at La Lunita where we ate 3 times. Also enjoyed La Buena Vida twice (good breakfast). The Eggplant Parmesan and Argula Salad at Que Onda was good. Unfortanately, didn't get a chance to enjoy Sunday Taco night there. Can't say much for Cueva Pescadore and didn't get to dine at Taverna. One family gave us a 12 pack of beer, leftover Jack Daniels, vodka, tequila and wine which we ended up passing on to a new group of people the day before we left. It started a party since they were all from Canada. Bruce's recommendation about USA Transfers was spot on. Very responsive as was Bruce when we had problems with the safe. The pictures on the web site are exactly as it appears. Many thanks to Bruce and Sue for opening up your home to us. It was most relaxing. Cindy and Larry, Nellysford, VA

Owner's Response: Hey Cindy Sorry about the issues with the water pressure. I wish I had known during your stay so I could get the staff to address it. The shower heads tend to get clogged and need to be treated or switched out every few months. We've fixed it so hopefully there will be no future problems. Glad you otherwise enjoyed your stay.

A little piece of paradise.

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 2 couples stayed here for 8 nights in mid January and absolutely loved it. It's a quiet area but also has quite a few great restaurants within walking distance. Step out the back door and you have great snorkeling within steps. You can also walk around the point and within 10 minutes be able to snorkel Yal-Ku lagoon without having to go to the entrance, just come out the way you came in. The people here are so friendly and go out of their way to make your stay wonderful. We did have a few issues with the bikes but it was cleared up quickly and they were an absolute must since we opted to not rent a car. We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity presents itself. Bruce and Susan have a wonderful property that truly gave us an amazing vacation. Thanks so much.
