This picture was taken Nov. 6, 2012 on a glorious hiking/mountain biking trail which connects with the Donner Rim Trail along with a whole system of other trails, located about a mile from my condo. I was cross country skiing the trail while a hiker and snowshoer were also enjoying the spectacular panorama! After skiing I dove into the outdoor heated pool at Trout Creek Fitness Center and then relaxed in the hot tub! Another day in Paradise--and the ski resorts had not even opened yet! Why did I buy this condo? 3 reasons: location, location, and location!!
This is a real gem, it's small but very cozy (great for a couple or single) and the view of the ski resort is entertainment itself. You have everything you need, she keeps the place very clean and new-looking, Tahoe Donner is fantastic. Just down the street is the Trout Creek Center with a pool (year round ), 3 jacuzzis, sauna, steam room, and a workout room for a reasonable fee (otherwise not open to the public).
We have been coming here during the winter to ski, the resort is small but friendly, never crowded, and you can literally ski right up the building. I just parked my skis on the rack and walked up and had lunch and walk back down and jumped on the lift, can't be closer literally.
She has always had the deposit returned very promptly, never had any fuss, and figuring it out for the first time is very easy. I highly recommend it!
This little studio apartment is thoughtfully stocked with everything you need. Sara is organized and efficient and I was really impressed at how this tiny space could actually take care of any possible need. From kitchen appliances to shovels and hooks everywhere - it was all there! I have stayed in several apartments in the complex so I have had the opportunity to see how others choose to use the space. In this apartment for example, Sara has opted for a larger fridge and storage cabinet instead of a oven/range. But lets be honest, a large oven/range is the last thing we need. Groceries all fit in the fridge and freezer. Prepared with frozen crockpot meals, microwaveable burritos and both a burner and griddle we were able to make anything we needed - AND the kitchenware was in good shape as opposed to the beat up rental garbage that has you eating Teflon in your scrambled eggs. I would not hesitate to rent again.
Perfect place for a short get-away...stocked perfect....Thank you...my granddaughter claimed the futon for herself and all of her furry little creatures....stuffed of course :) thank you Annemarie
What a great little studio! Despite it's size there is plenty of room in the form of shelving, hooks and closets. The bed was very comfortable with cozy linens plus extra. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a nice meal, and I mean everything! There are supplies of paper products, garbage bags, coffee filters, plastic wrap, etc. Body wash and shampoo for you to use in the bathroom. Efficient wall heaters, but we hardly had to use them. Discount card for lift tickets in a well organized binder. Immaculately cleaned. Easy parking with an elevator and carts for your gear. Two of us stayed and we would love to come back. The futon makes for a nice couch to watch a little TV. Waking up to see the snow falling out side while you drink your coffee in bed is lovely, and a very short walk to the ski lift is even better. We had prompt communication and excellent customer service with the owner. There is only one thing I would recommend and that is a garbage disposal- otherwise this is a wonderful and well appointed studio in a great location! The owner has paid thoughtful attention to creating a comfortable and efficient space.
Prospective guests should realize that this entire STUDIO CONDO is no larger than a small hotel room. In spite of its limited size, it is comfortable and functional for two people. Excellent forethought and careful organization have made that possible. But four adults? We would suggest a couple with ONE youngster under twelve, MAX.
You enter through a very small “kitchenette.” To your immediate right is a true full bath (incl. tub w/shower). In front of you lies a convertible futon couch (which we did not sleep on), a double bed, and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that offer a great view of the ski slope (a very short walk away). The balcony provides seating for two persons enjoying their morning coffee or watching the skiers.
The condo faces toward the south, which means that a summer sun (high in the sky) will NEVER pour heat directly into the condo (as a setting sun would into a west-facing condo). Yet the condo will receive warmth from the lower mid-day sun during winter. (Ideal for passive solar heating.) The ceiling fan above the bed is quiet and effective. As is common in Tahoe Donner, there is no air conditioning
To compensate for the lack of a stove and oven, Sara has provided a remarkable array of smaller appliances–a microwave, rice cooker, toaster, Crock Pot, toaster-oven, induction (i.e., magnetic heating) electric hot plate, coffee maker, etc. (Have we forgotten anything? Possibly.) There is a propane-fueled BBQ grill on the balcony (with spare propane tanks stored in the condo). You could not prepare a complicated meal here, but you can easily manage with simple meals. Sara has put careful thought into this issue.
The refrigerator/freezer is smaller than “full-size,” but it is more than twice what you find in hotel rooms (plus, it has a freezer). The dishwasher is also smaller than any we had ever seen, and Sara cautions that it is “minimalist,” and dirty dishes must be rinsed first. We turned it on as we checked out, but didn’t hang around to see the results.
At home, we sleep in a queen bed. We both thought the condo's bed is a "double," not a true queen.
