Innkeepers Mike & Tracey Thomas share a lifelong passion for travel and enjoying fun and beautiful new places. Mike is an insurance agent in San Saba and Tracey teaches Spanish in our local high school. 'What we hope to bring through 'Stone Oak Cottage' is a clean, comfortable and spacious place for you and your family to call home while enjoying the beauty, history and mystique of San Saba and the Texas Hill Country.' says owner Mike Thomas.
The house was the built in 1935 by Van and Ruth Sadler, a local business owner and leader in the community. Their son, Steve Sadler, went on to be the owner of the local radio station KBAL and was well know for his humor on the air.
'Home since 1935' is more than a slogan. Not only was this house the Sadler's home, but we also raised our children in this home.' Says Tracey Thomas. 'We built and shared many wonderful time in this home.'
The property was clean and nicely furnished. Owners were very helpful and responsive. Having laundry facilities was a real benefit. Will certainly be staying here again on future visits to San Saba.
Everything we could have asked for and more. Clean and spacious with all the comforts and extras of home. Would stay here again.
We arrived on Friday evening late and we were greeted when we got there. Immediately my kids decided they needed to pick which room they would be staying in, just hearing feet run on hard wood floors was amazing. The refrigerator had drinks and breakfast food for the next morning, total surprise. The beds were amazing and very comfortable. Loved having two bathrooms and two living rooms. It was so comfortable, that we decided just to rest on Saturday, till we needed to head out. Look forward to staying again.
The Stone Oak Cottage was very comfortable. The house was clean, spacious and there were plenty of linens, towels and supplies. There were refreshments and the entertainment (cable and internet) all worked seamlessly. The air conditioning worked well and the environment was very comfortable. The master bedroom had plenty of space and the bed was large and comfortable.
There is plenty of space for a large family and for entertaining guests. The house is conveniently located to the main shopping area. I would and have recommended this property to friends and relatives.
Visit the historic Hill Country of Texas. San Saba County has two of the remaining daily use suspension bridges in the state. We are home of two of the 100 most historic trees of Texas. We have the oldest continuous operation jail in the United States. Our Mill Pond Park and Riesen Park are a great place for nature walks, picnicking and water activities.
