Welcome to your private, secluded oasis. Our house sits on 4 lots and is the last house on the street. This affords you a quiet retreat bordering the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. The only traffic you will have will be in the air in the form of beautiful flocks of egrets, ospreys searching for a meal, and migrating birds.
The beautiful, uncrowded Delaware Bay beach is just a short walk away down an uncrowded street that is more like a gravel lane - no traffic. The gentle waves are wonderful for children and kayaking and for stand-up paddle boarding. Enjoy views of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, quiet walks searching for shells and seaglass or try your hand at surf fishing.
After the beach, enjoy our large grass yard for games or a catch or spend time in our beachy yard with native grasses and a children's playset. Enjoy relaxing in our screened in outside shower while you gaze at the wildlife refuge. Whatever you decide, the quiet and calmness will soothe and relax you.
Our home has 2 screened porches and a wrap around deck on the second level as well as a balcony off of two bedrooms (king and queen) on the 3rd level. Two additional bedrooms on the 3rd level offer a queen bed and two twin beds. There is also a full bath on this level. There is also a screened porch on the ground level and a ping pong table in the garage on the ground level.
The second level which is the main living area offers a fully-equipped kitchen and a full bath. There is also a large sunroom walled by windows overlooking the wildlife refuge, a family room with tv, and a large dining room with two tables. There is a queen sleeper sofa in the family room. The feel is large, bright and open.
Broadkill Beach holds the charm of yesteryear and is a true treasure. The beach is uncrowded and quiet. There is a small store with sandwiches, ice cream, pantry items, beach goods, fishing supplies and homemade donuts on the weekend. The Rookery, a public golf course, is only 4 miles away. The Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge offers trails to explore as well as streams and ponds to kayak and canoe.
The historic town of Milton is just a few minutes away with restaurants, a grocery store, Domino's Pizza, Subway, etc. The town also offers Music in the Park on Wednesday evenings in the summer along the Broadkill River.
If you want to spend some of your vacation at a faster pace, the towns of Lewes and Rehoboth Beach are about 15-20 minutes away and offer award-winning restaurants, 2 water parks, miniature golf, a cinema, tax-free outlet shopping, the Rehoboth Boardwalk with rides, arcades and boardwalk food. There are also various state parks with ocean beaches, trails and history to explore.
Please note that our home has an occupancy limit of 10 people, including children and babies. Also, no smoking is allowed.

As natives of the Delaware beaches, we knew Broadkill Beach would be a great place to raise our family. We love everything the beach has to offer and enjoy surfing, skimboarding, sailing, windsurfing and the salt air. Aside from the beach life, we are avid ice hockey fans and players - you have to do something when it's too cold to go swimming!
The Owner purchased this house in 1998
We chose our home for the wonderful secluded location. We feel we are in our own little oasis and enjoy wonderful views of the wildlife refuge from almost every part of our home. We will be performing the cleaning and maintenance duties ourselves between rentals so you can be assured you will arrive to a clean, welcoming retreat.
Broadkill Beach is a rare find on the east coast. Feel like you are being transported back in time as you wind your way through the wildlife refuge on your way to Broadkill Beach. The area is protected from the commercialism of nearby areas so you can enjoy running, walking, biking and a quiet beach. Yet, those conveniences of the modern era are close by when you want to venture back to that world.
First, let me say that the house is absolutely spacious and wonderful. The property owners couldn't have been any nicer and accomodating. We stayed two nights and I wish we were able to stay longer. It was a really quick walk to a quiet and uncrowded beach which is perfect for relaxing, and you have some great views of the nature preserve from the windows in the home. We were able to go into Milton to check out the Dogfish Head Brewery tour as well as cook out on the grill outside and play some lawn games. There was a shopping center with a Food Lion for easy grocery shopping as well as many places for takeout foods, and a Walgreens pharmacy. It was really convenient and only about a 10 minute drive away. I would absolutely recommend staying at this property and will be looking at it for future family vacations.
Everyone loved the house and the area.
From the 3 yr. old who loved the "giant sandbox" and the small sandbox in a screened in porch, to the 66 yr. old grandpa who got to surf fish any time of the day...no people in the way of his casting. We could find shells and pretty stones on the beach and even had sand crabs looking out of their freshly dug homes at us.
The house was bright and cheery with lots of room to spread out. It looks exactly like the pictures except for 2 big couches now in the room with the TV and piano instead of one.
The owners were very helpful and obviously love the house.
Be advised that like most of the houses in the area all the living spaces are up stairs.
Twice we ate at The Backyard (for breakfast and dinner) and would recommend it. It is on Rt. 16 before you get to the Food Lion.
If you need something to do on a rainy day, the Dogfish Head Brewery is in Milton, but make a reservation for a tour. We couldn't get in, by midday they were fully booked, but samples were still available!
My family - 6 adults and 4 children (under the age of 5) - had a wonderful time in Broadkill Beach. The house is very spacious, comfortable and came just as advertised. The location could not be better - a very short walk to the what seemed to be a semi-private beach. The area is very quiet but a short drive will bring you to Rehoboth and the crowds, if that is your cup of tea. The screened porches were a big hit with all of us. The owners were helpful and answered my questions. I am very happy to recommend this property!
We spent our time exploring your beautiful beaches and local communities. Adults and kids had a wonderful time. We all had a good time in your lovely home and the beauty of Prime Hook nature area could be seen from many places around the house. Hope to see you next year. Thanks for sharing.
We stayed at the house with another family for an extended weekend. Loved it. The house is clean, with a spacious first-floor, a great wrap-around balcony, and a nice sunroom. Our kids loved the large backyard, and the playhouse. The beach is easily accessible and very nice. Added bonuses: (i) the house is the last one on the street and has great views towards the back bay; (ii) included in the rental were bikes and many beach toys; (iii) the owners are very responsive and on top of things.
Wonderful house, with lots of room for adults and children. Easy walk to the beach. Good bird watching from the back deck!! Lewes down the road had a great Italian restaurant and cute shops.
2 water parks nearby, public golf course w/in 4 miles, adjacent to Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge with hiking, canoeing, kayaking, wildlife watching, miles of uncrowded beach, Cape-May Lewes Ferry, numerous state parks, Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk and tax-free outlet shopping about 15-20 minutes, Historic Milton 10 minutes with shops, restaurants, antiquing, and music shows in the park weekly
