Why JoAnn Ardell chose Providenciales - Provo

I absolutely love Provo, Turks and Caicos is the true Caribbean. Where you can walk for hours one way down the beach never having to go around out crops of rocks or hundreds of sun bathers. The sand reaches as far as the eye can see. The natural reef surrounding the island keeps the wave crashing to a minimum which makes for the clearest ocean waters I've ever seen. It doesn't matter if you want to perfect your swim by going all the way out to the reef or just wading in the water there's always something to do. The people are friendly, it's one of the safest islands in the Caribbean. Come and experience what I have fell in love with.

Excellent place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Satori. Good location, less than three minutes walk to the beautiful Grace beach. JoAnne is a very professional lady with good attention to details. She provides helpful information about places to go and things to do. A very safe place with surveillance cameras and Kaiser, JoAnne German Shepherd who is always ready to protect the property barking all intruders.

We really had an extraordinary good time at Satori and recommend this place with A+ to those who really would like to enjoy the beach at Turks & Caicos. If I come back to Caicos ( definitely I will) I will stay with JoAnne at Satori.

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We spent four weeks at Satori this past winter and it was just wonderful in so many ways. It is extremely well located, a short walk to gorgeous Grace Bay beach. Fully appointed, everything you could need in the kitchen, beach chairs and boogie boards and flippers for the beach, even sun screen and shampoo. The furnishings are lovely and tasteful and the beds very comfortable. There is air conditioning in every room for those times when you need it, although many days you can just leave the windows open and catch the delightful breeze. JoAnn is a superb host. She is friendly and gracious without being intrusive, and provides just about anything you could need in terms of information and recommendations. The pool is lovely and a great place to relax if you want to just kick back. There is also a shady area with lounge chairs for those times when you want to relax out of the sun. We felt very safe and secure the whole time, the grounds are well lit and the house gated. But the best security and lots of fun is Kaiser, JoAnn's German Shepherd who stands guard ready to bark at intruders and loves to play fetch all day long.

Fabulous, Fabulous, Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, and our two daughters aged 7 and 9 enjoyed Satori for a month in December of 2013. One key feature of Satori is its location. Not only is it steps from the ocean, but since we had a rental car, we were able to zip off to any other beach or restaurant in just minutes. The house itself is solidly built with open, airy vaulted ceilings. There is air-conditioning, but we never needed it because the house cooled down with the windows open at night. Some days we never even left the house, THAT’s how pleasant it was! Shopping was easy at the IGA, and every morning we had the choice of eating at the house or taking a stroll down the beach to find a restaurant nearby (due to Satori’s awesome location, it’s so cool that you can do that!). The deck, as well as every window, has white wrought-iron bars, plus outdoor night lighting. This is an important feature because it gave me a real sense of security and peace. We are not “hotel” or “all-inclusive” people. We like to make our own schedule, we like to hang out with ourselves (not a fan of crowds), and because we are a bit fussy about food and such, we like to make our own decisions about our activities and eating. This is why Satori was a good fit for us. We absolutely loved it there and since we’ve returned home to Canada, Satori is all we think about. Thanks JoAnn for a wonderful vacation.

Paradise Found

  • 5 of 5

This was my second visit to Satori at Grace Bay. I loved the place even better the second time around. Maybe it was because this time I spent more time on the cool breezy deck with a coconut rum smoothie in one hand and my e-reader in the other. Satori is in a central location. We could walk to the fish fry or to the Beach House for great meals. The best beach-accessed snorkelling reef in Provo is at the end of the road, and we sure enjoyed swimming with turtles (seriously). The house is clean, comfortable, easy to maintain and has everything that a person really needs. The beds are comfortable. I don’t know why someone would choose a standard hotel room, when they can have this huge awesome house for a better price. Our daughters were able to roam the yard catching geckos, and I felt completely safe because I could see them through one of the many windows in the house. I did some DIY bonefishing with success in Turtle Tail Beach. If you travelled the world, I would bet that you couldn’t find a better beach than the Grace Bay beach in front of Satori. Joann was a fantastic host, as usual. Thanks for another wonderful vacation. Hopefully we will again return one day.

'Satori'... at Grace Bay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with another couple rented this property in January. It was LOVELY! The house was immaculately clean, the rooms are larger than they appear in the photos, the beds were comfy and we LIVED on the outdoor patio. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. We had breakfast on the patio every morning and bought lunch and snack items for the beach.

The location was great....a hop, skip and a jump away from Grace Bay Beach and far enough away from the big resorts to never be crowded on the beach. With decorative wrought iron on all windows and doors, we felt especially safe...even though there doesn't seem to be a crime problem; at least that we saw.

If you want to do things other than just going to the same beach, I'd recommend renting a car. We had good luck with Grace Bay Rentals.

We went all over the island; Long Beach, Malcolm Roads Beach, Chaulk Sound, Taylor Bay, Sapsodilla Bay as well as a few restaurants and shopping areas.

We took the Ferry over to North and Middle Caicos one day, which was a lot of fun.

JoAnn and her folks were very hospitable, and helpful with information and answers to our questions. They gave us great restaurants tips and we had terrific meals.

One of our favorites was Mango Reef, on the water.

All four of us would recommend this house again to friends and family. When you see how high the island prices are, you'll recognize this as a true value.

A Dream Come True

  • 5 of 5

We spent approximately one month at Satori in March-April of 2012. We are a family with two young daughters. This place was the absolute best choice for us. The house is awesome: clean, well-constructed, safe and beautiful. The house is bullet-proof in that it’s impossible to break-into (so you can relax at the beach without worrying about having your stuff stolen!). The vaulted ceilings and screened windows allowed us enjoy the island breezes. The house feels like home; rather than just a rental. The kitchen is stocked with basic appliances and there is a BBQ too.

Because our stay was long, we got a good feel for what it would be like to live in Provo. Island living is fabulous! Zero complaints from us. I’ve been to every island in the West Indies, and I was actually surprised that Provo rated at the top for me. Provo is filled with fairly wealthy people, and so we did not experience people pestering us to buy something or to give them money. There was none of that here. Everyone was friendly, yet they pretty much leave you alone.

The best part about Satori is it’s location. Because it’s not right on the beach (don’t worry, it’s really, really close), you get some privacy. The short walk to Grace Bay Beach was pleasant and fun to spot the zillions of tiny geckos. No need to charter a boat to snorkel the reefs; Satori has the best snorkeling reef right out front, then about a 100 feet to the left. Seriously, there are amazing fish that you can see from shore. We were lucky enough to see two small sharks.

For meals, you have the choice of eating at home (shop at one of the IGA’s). Or you can stroll along the most beautiful beach in the world and pick from dozens of restaurants associated with other resorts. We never had a bad meal. For those who enjoy Starbucks or Booster Juice, there is a tropical version, called the Green Bean Cafe nearby. Great coffee, smoothies, food and atmosphere. We went there all the time.

Though the island is small, we recommend you rent a car and do some exploring. Grace Bay is great, but Taylor Bay, Pelican Beach, and Long Beach have their own special qualities that you really should experience. Taylor Bay is especially good for kids because it is shallow, warm and the sand feels like powdered sugar.

We loved our stay at Satori so much that we’d like to hit the “repeat” button for next year. You know your vacation was great if you are willing to do it all over again. Thanks Jo-Ann!
