Andrea and Phil Laney purchased this log cabin because of the beautiful treetop views. They have been improving the cabin with new furniture, upgrades and amenities every month since they first got it. Phil grew up in Florida and vacationed in the Georgia mountains as a child. Owning a log cabin in the Ga mountains has always been a dream that finally came to fruition for this Ga Tech grad in 2011. Andrea and Phil enjoy visiting their cabin several times a year with their two children. The kids love tubing and fishing in the nearby Toccoa river (only 2 miles away).

We had such a wonderful stay at Black Bear cabin this past weekend. The cabin is in an ideal location, extremely private in beautiful surroundings. Tons of nearby trails to hike as well. The cabin is lovely with plenty of room and several decks to enjoy the scenery. We were lucky enough to visit during a snow, which there was TONS of, and we had a great time playing in the snow with our pup all weekend. We also enjoyed playing darts and pool and unwinding in the hot tub while the snow was falling. The upper screened in deck was also a nice feature. The owners are incredibly kind, accommodating and responsive as well. Being able to bring our pup with us was a wonderful perk and we will absolutely be back. Thanks for everything!
We had a great time and look forward to going back. The cabin is very roomy and welcoming!
My wife, child, and I stayed at this cabin on our road trip through the eastern states and do have to say it was one of our best stays. The cabin is beautiful and the location is breath taking. We loved every minute of it. We used the pool table, hot tub, campfire on the back and had a blast. The only regret we had is that more of our family members did not come with us to enjoy the cabinet
Had a wonderful time, and everything was just as we expected. Highly recommend.
Beautiful scenery, cabin is very clean and comfortable, there is an issue with the driveway though, I drive a ford F150 2 wheel drive truck and could not exit the west side of the driveway and had a very hard time backing out of the East side due to the steep angle, daughters smaller Honda did not have an issue with the east driveway. Overall a great vacation experience! Thank you very much!
The cabin was very nice, and has a new addition of couches that were very cozy. There were a lot of VHS/DVD tapes to choose from in the living room so that made for a nice evening to wind down. The kitchen was easily accessible and had almost everything you'd expect from a standard kitchen. The bedrooms were nice and very cozy with a nice book selection! In the basement there was a nice pool table and a dart board so that definitely made our stay very fun Friday night.
The owners were very easy to work with on VRBO on answering questions before our stay and answered when we called Friday evening. We appreciated that.
We arrived at the cabin at about 8 pm. The hottub was cold and at 54 degrees. We called the owner asnd he told us how to get the heat started. We followed the instructions and it went up one degree every 30 minutes. By midnight it was only at 71 degrees so we gave up and went to bed. I went down at 6 am to see that it was fully heated. So that was disappointing that we missed one night of the hottub, that was the main reason we chose the cabin. We were never able to get the fireplace started.
Our stay was average. We had a nice time, but we were a little disappointed with the hottub. We would consider returning.
Downtown Blue Ridge is a beautiful tourist oriented town that has not been overbuilt or compromised on. There are nice Bars, restaurants, shopping, ice cream shops, outdoor outfitters, that all have a quality, high end feel along E. Main street in downtown Blue Ridge. I recommend Black Bear Tavern in particular. Say 'Hi' to Dan the owner who can often be found there on the weekends. The scenic train rides leave from the center of downtown, or you can rent bicycles from Cycle South and check out the local trails. There are two great fly fishing stores on E. Main street as well that can tell you where all the great local fishing spots are and get you outfitted with any gear you might need.
