The cottage is family owned property and we enjoy sharing it with others.
Chris Blevins purchased this cottage in 2011
We looked for five years until this perfect location appeared. A guest put it this way."It's a sliver of life on a lake". The views, water depth, dock and unpretentious home capped the sale.
Sitting with a good book on the balcony, listening to the young people play, having a camp fire, boating to dinner across the lake, taking friends tubing or just a pleasure boat ride and enjoy all the beauty. Meandering down the path way munching on thimble berries is a fun experience.
We had a great relaxing time at the Cottage, the cottage is well taken care of and is well equipped with supply's and fully loaded kitchen (NOT FOOD). Like the way things a re labeled to make it easy to find stuff. Good and clean, every place has it pros and cons, I would recommend to rent a boat to make it easyer to bring in supplys. The stairs are good work out but makes for some great exercise when you first arrive and it is time to depart. Great view and even seen all the fire works from across the lake. 4 STARS
wonderful vacation! kitchen was better outfitted than our own. very peaceful. very clean.
everything worked well. close to town (about 35 minutes by car. 10-15 minutes by boat). David called a couple days into our stay to make sure everything was ok. about 100 steps down to the cabin.
Our stay at the cottage on the shore was excellent. Right from booking to check out our needs were met perfectly. The pictures of this cabin do not do it justice. It is well situated, well maintained and stocked with plenty of extras. The owners were responsive and committed to meeting and anticipating our needs from answering emails promptly, providing us with area information to even greeting us with fresh muffins upon our arrival.
I would recommend this property to anyone and plan on booking it again ourselves in the future.
The stairs from parking level to cabin could be a challenge for some but we loaded and unloaded our belongings by boat and had no problem.
Beautiful lake, beautiful cabin, excellent value!
Our week at the Cottage on the Shore was excellent. You can't beat the location and the view. Having the water 10 steps from your front door with a private dock to park your boat, it doesn't get much better. Sitting on the dock with our morning coffee was so peaceful. The cottage has everything you would need and is very clean and well kept - the owners obviously take good care of their cottage.
The only things we didn't like were the lack of privacy between bedroom (the walls don't go all the way to ceiling) and it would be nice if the grassy area was larger.
Our stay at Cottage on the Shore met all our expectations. Mom, Dad, and 4 teens - it was a perfect week of relaxing and adventuring in a beautiful location. We really appreciate a clean and well-prepared VRBO, and this property didn't disappoint in any area. We had comfortable space for together-time watching movies or playing video/family games (Mexican Train Marathon!), yet it was easy to get solo time with one of the many books we found, either upstairs on the deck or outside on the dock. We loved being "self-contained"; once arrived we could have stayed the entire time, cooking in the well-equipped kitchen or on the splendid deck using the incredible "Beast", a gas and briquette cooker. The deck was a favorite place to start the day, the first few enjoyed with homemade lemon-poppyseed muffins that were waiting for us on arrival.
But we did venture out to explore the area and had a wonderful day of bicycling the Trial of the Coeur d'Alene's from Harrison, where bike rentals are available and quite reasonably priced. The ride was memorable for the kids as we passed a moose, a couple turtles, a baby skunk (!), and myriad birds and wildlife along the river and lakes. We also 'rode on the lake' using the paddle boat directly from the cottage dock; it was like our own little paradise we had all to ourselves. The kids paddled, fished, floated, and swam right outside the cottage. A very short drive from the cottage is a quaint general store (Hutton's) which has a genuine soda counter and serves up fabulous (and BIG) huckleberry milkshakes and unique flavor cones.
The listing photos well-represent the property and the loving care that has been put into the home. Finding the cottage was no problem by following the well-prepared directions from the owner. The final short descent down the driveway was exciting for the passengers, but no problem to navigate with our loaded van and bikes. All our questions were addressed prior to visiting, and quickly answered via text once there. Unique aspects: 131 steps from the driveway to the cottage - makes it really feel like a secluded and private getaway; second bathroom in the outbuilding was simply nice, clean, and convenient; private dock that is an easy trip to/from the marina via motorboat; private rooms upstairs that have a loft feel; so many choices for relaxation.
We'll definitely be returning, and have already recommended the Cottage to a number of our friends.
Three generations had a wonderful time at the Cottage on the Shore! There is definitely something for everyone. It's evident how much the owners care about this home. It is always very clean, well maintained, and well-stocked. Each time we've come we notice improvements and upgrades. It just gets better and better! This is a great place for active families. Our days were filled with adventures and fun in the water. The water cannons were a big hit... What a plus to have a bath house bathroom to access from outside. No one dripping water all over the floor in the house. The boys really liked the fire pit and sat around it every night. Big windows overlooking the yard and the lake make you feel outside when you are in and make it easy to keep track of everyone! My favorite spot has to be the deck on the upper level. Beautiful view anytime of day and gorgeous sunsets. Looking forward to the next visit.
