About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

The Mesa's Cabin is a beautiful place located in the Roan Mountain in the Amber Ranches community. The area is very private but it is close to towns and places to go, visit and things to do. VERY CLOSE TO WHITE WATER RAFTING, FALLS, RIVERS, MITCHELL MOUNT, BAKERSVILLE SHOPES, BURNSVILLE, ASHVILLE, BILTMORE ESTATES... The road trip to get to the cabin is spectacular! It is very scenic and charming. You will have access to a huge supermarket called Ingles located in Burnsville and other stores for your provisions and shopping experience. Very nice and charming town. The Cabin is made of wood and decorated with a special and loving touch. It has a wood spiral stairs that goes from the basement to the second floor. It is a masterpiece and one of the most beautiful woodwork you can ever see! It has a wraparound porch with a covered terrace with a picnic table to enjoy family meals outside. There is plenty of space where you can seat and enjoy the sunset or do pit fire on the winter. It is very comfortable and has all the things needed to relax and enjoy a great time with your love ones. It comfortable sleeps 8 people. There is a master bedroom in the second floor with a loft that has a twin bed and a pullout bed. This is great for families with children. The basement bedroom has two queen beds with two closets. This is ideal for two families that travel together. Both bathrooms are very comfortable and have warmer lights. The sofa is a sofa bed that is in the living room. The kitchen is fully loaded and very functional. It has a big island table where people can gather to have a wonderful meal or play games. We have a stone made fire pit close to the cabin that is a great hit with teens and adults that want to make a fire and share stories at night. There is a small creek a walking distance with a picnic table that is great for little kids to enjoy some splashing in the summer. The wrap around porch is great to relax and enjoy with a glass of wine in the summer or fall or a hot cocoa cup in the winter. The fall season is very pretty... you can see the changing of the leaves to its full potential. And the weather is perfect! Any time of the year is perfect! The winter time is spectacular! you will feel like you are inside a postal card...This is a magical mountain where you can fall in love again with your spouse and your family and friends. We have a caretaker that is available in case you need anything. PLEASE NOTE: We do not have air conditioning. But we do have tower fans and ceiling fan thru the cabin. Usually at night temperature reaches 60 to 70 degrees.

CAR: it is necessary to have a 4x4 vehicle to go up and down the mountain.

Perfect fall getaway!

  • 4 of 5

This cozy cabin was just what we were hoping for. The pictures are great representation of this secluded cabin on Mount Roan. We were immediately impressed with the place. It has updated bathrooms and kitchen, and everything you need is provided. I kept wondering if I needed to bring this or that...I didn't need anything but food! There's even basic kitchen things like spices, pasta, and baking items. All household needs are provided in plenty, even firewood. We walked/hiked a lot. Just walked out our cabin door and walked down the mountain to a sweet creek and hiking trail. The next day we walked up the mountain and saw some incredible views. Amber Ranch community has several cabins on that mountain but they're all secluded and private. The Mesas cabin has a great view, but walk up a few roads and you have views from a storybook. We didn't go to town for activities; my two small kids were happy to run in the woods and play on the outstanding porch. There were a few older games and movies that we enjoyed as well. The road up and down the mountain is super steep. We drove a sedan and it did fine but we had no rain or snow. If there is rain or snow expected you definitely need 4 wheel drive. The stores are at least 30 minutes away so bring what you need. Couches and chairs could be updated but are cozy and comfortable. There's beds for 8 but there's also a air mattress and someone could sleep on the couch. Silvia and her caretaker were so helpful and great to work with. We would love to go back!

Great place to get away!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful cabin! The owner was great to work with! One of the things that we liked most about the cabin was the open floor plan and the beautiful kitchen. I suggest staying in one day and spending the day cooking and lounging by the fire. You can't go wrong. Another thing that we really enjoyed about the cabin was the large wrap around deck. I'm sure that there are places to go to around the area, but we mainly hung out at the cabin and did some exploring around the neighborhood.

The owners mentioned that you would need 4WD to access the property. I think 4WD is only really necessary in bad weather. The road to the cabin is a short gravel road (maybe half a mile) that doesn't have any ruts, holes, or switchbacks, but it is very steep in a few parts. If you don't have 4WD or AWD I would suggest putting your car in second gear and getting a little momentum to help you make it to the top.

Again, this is a really great cabin. It was clean, inviting, and had everything that you need minus the groceries;P

Wonderful cabin in the forest

  • 5 of 5

We can't say enough good things about this vacation home. We booked it at the last minute over 4th of July weekend for my husband and I and our 4 children. It was spacious, comfortable, clean and lovely. The open floor plan was wonderful and the kitchen was perfect with a very ample granite island that was perfect for puzzle building and game night. The owners were soooo kind and accommodating. We drive a Toyota Sienna, and we had to be brave going up the hill, but with some momentum we had no trouble getting up to our cabin. Don't let the lack of air conditioning and absence of wi-fi deter you. You don't need either one. The trees keep this cabin cool and comfortable, and who needs wi-fi when nature commands your attention to this degree. Truly a sensational weekend. FYI, our kids are 14, 12, 10 and 9, and they had a blast.

Awesome Cabin!!! Private & Quiet!

  • 5 of 5

Couldn't be happier with my stay at this cabin. Contacted owner & received a call back within 10 minutes to be able to book. Planned a very last minute weekend getaway trip & owners were willing to work with us. Arrived to a very clean cabin that was very well stocked. Very private! Only thing I will say is that 4x4 isn't needed in good weather, bad weather it is needed. Also closet grocery store is located about 30 minutes away so stock up.

Great Cozy Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful visit to this cabin! If you want to get away from it all, this is the place! We got about 6" of snow while there and couldn't really go anywhere thankfully there were some sleds at the cabin so could enjoy something fun to do in the snow! Asheville was only about an hour away and a great place for a day trip. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking! Thanks for the owners that were so great to work with!

Beautiful retreat in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time on our weekend in the mountains. This beautiful log cabin was in a perfect location to get away from it all, yet feel as if you have the conviences of home. The house was well furnished, decorated, and had everything we needed for our family of six. While on vacation we mentioned we felt as if we were camping in luxury (glamping - glamour camping)

The owner was pleasure to communicate with and even called to make sure we made it into the cabin OK the previous night.

We made it into the cabin at night; however, I would suggest getting there in the day. Even though it was suggested to have a 4 x 4 we made it up to the cabin with our minivan. Just make sure you keep going up the mountain and don't stop on a steep part and you'll make it up OK. It was a real adventure and so much fun.

We do have a minivan with AWD (Honda Odyssey), that also seemed to help. We can't wait to go back.
