I (Tom) live upstairs at 105 Hamilton Place with my wife Alex and our two little kids, Cecily and Simon. I am a painter and work from home which means if my renters need anything they need only ring my doorbell and I am happy to help.
Tom Sanford purchased this studio in 2010
My wife and I have lived in Harlem since 2002, and my history with the neighborhood began in the mid 1990s when I attended Columbia. We have loved the convenience and character of the neighborhood for years and feel very lucky that we were able to acquire our little townhouse which gave us the room to start our family in Hamilton Heights, Harlem.
The cuban coffee at El Rey del Sandwich is superb. Perhaps you will have one after an early morning swim or a few sets of tennis at Riverbank State Park before you take a short stroll through City College's beautiful campus, past Alexander Hamilton's historical home and then the Royal Tenenbaum's house to the Convent Avenue Baptist Church. But there are so many ways to spend a morning in Harlem. And of course if you can just hop on the subway and the world's greatest city is your oyster!
We had such a pleasant stay here!
The property is super modern, a big open space and you feel completely at home.
As a plus, the bed is super comfortable!! You are guaranteed to have a great night's sleep before another big day ahead.
Only slight downfall was how much you can hear from upstairs - it didn't disturb us much, but most mornings we would wake up to someone walking around, cleaning/moving furniture etc. This wouldn't start until 7.30/8am so it wasn't a big deal!
Tom is a wonderful host and was really helpful by answering any questions about our stay and the city.
We would definitely recommend staying in this property, and we hope to return again soon!
We really enjoyed our stay in this cozy apartment. It is well situated to subway lines that can get you anywhere you want to go quickly. We enjoyed exploring the nearby Upper West Side especially. My wife and I are big Seinfeld fans and there were several notable locations very close by so that was a plus. Tom gave great arrival instructions and was very helpful and understanding when we hit some snags in our departure. I would definitely not hesitate to stay here again!
Tom is very organized and timely with his rental. He also was so kind as to hold our bags until the room was officially ready for check-in. We didn't have any issues with the room, it met our needs for a nice clean place to stay.
Bed was comfy, place was pretty clean and had a lot of things that would be needed like shampoo and soap! great place thanks for the stay!
Our stay at Tom's appartment was all around amazing and uncomplicated. It was clean, well-prepared and big enough to stay for one week. Moreover it was possible to use the refrigerator and the microwave, so it was possible to eat breakfast at the appartment. 5 minutes from the appartment there are a few deli-stores and a bigger supermarket to find a lot of food :)
Wireless internet worked without any problems.
Also the connection to the subway was perfect. we were able to reach two different lines in round about 5 minutes and it took only 15 minutes to reach Downtown.
Before and during our vacation we stayed in contact with Tom and he was always kind, friendly and answered very quick.
All around we enjoyed our stay and looking forward to come again and stay at Tom's.

I have stayed in several places in NY and this one great. It was very clean and comfortable with great bedding and lots of big fluffy towels. Tom was very accommodating and took great care of us. He even called us a great car service to get back to the airport. The apartment is roughly 4-5 short blocks to 2 of the main subway lines so we were able to plan our day and get almost everywhere we wanted to go. Usually you have to make due with small corner market stores, but there is a huge grocery store, (for NYC) with in easy walking distance. Broadway is only a block away so there were plenty of food options and even though I was there alone with my sister, we never felt nervous about walking home even late at night.I will definitely keep this place on my list of places to stay when in NY!
