Pine Street is located a street back from the bluff. When out for a walk, you will see beautiful views of the harbor and downtown area. You are able to walk downtown within minutes to enjoy restaurants, the beach, shopping, the library, marina, post office and more. Harbor Springs SK8 Park is located at the end of Pine Street with skate ramps in the summer and ice skating in the winter. The indoor community pool is located at the other end of Pine Street, just a short walk away, and is a great rainy day activity. Harbor Springs city beach at Zorn Park is a couple of minutes away - it has a nice sandy beach, a raft to swim out to and a playground area. About three miles away at Nub's Nob and Boyne Highlands you will find ski hills, a tubing park and zip line adventures. Kiwanis Park is great for sledding and is just blocks away. Cross country ski trails and hiking/mountain biking trails are nearby.
We had a family-owned business in Grosse Pointe. As kids, we started coming up to Harbor Springs for summer vacations and winter skiing trips. Our parents loved the area and eventually bought a home on Lake Street. One day our mom was out for a walk and came upon a garage sale on Pine Street. She fell in love with the house and the owners offered to show her around the property. She jokingly asked if the house was part of the garage sale - it was not listed for sale at that time. She made an offer and what do you know - the owners accepted it! When our parents both retired they moved north and made this home their permanent residence. This lovely house has been filled with love, laughter, grandkids and wonderful holiday memories ever since. Our goal is to keep this beloved home in our family for generations to come. We would like to invite you to come stay with us and make memorable moments with your family as well!
This home exceeded our expectations! 8 women arrived on the Friday of Labor Day weekend ready to enjoy a relaxing and fun-filled stay in the city of Harbor Springs. Upon arrival, the owners contacted us to be sure we arrived safely and had access into the home. They were also sure to check in periodically to be sure we were enjoying our stay, which was much appreciated! We anticipated spending a good portion of our time outside of the home-- enjoying wineries, visiting the downtown area, and walking the pier (which we did), however we found ourselves enjoying the majority of our time within the Pine Street home. We prepared breakfast each morning in their fully stocked kitchen with plenty of wine glasses for morning Mimosas! Dinner was made simple with all the kitchen amenities you could imagine! The large dining table was perfect for us to enjoy meals in addition to the large seating island within the kitchen. The home came equipped with speakers to attach our phones or iPads, allowing for good times dancing around the kitchen and living room as it played our favorite tunes. While we didn't need the Guest Bedroom for our guests during the stay, some women found it as a cozy and cool place to take a mid-day nap. We didn't anticipate the first weekend of September to be as hot as it was (mid-80's), and while the home does not have air, each room included a ceiling fan and additional box fan to keep cool during the warm evenings. Overall, this home brought us memories that will stay with us for many years to come. I would absolutely recommend this home to friends and may even consider booking for our next family vacation. Thank you Alan and Allison for opening your home to us. We appreciated your hospitality and availability during our stay.
I can only say "ditto" to Dave and Charley's reviews. They said it all about this home. We stayed there with our family and it was just perfect, from the location to the amenities. Allison and Alan thought of every detail you could possibly think of for your stay (by the way, we met them as we were checking in and they truly take pride in their place and want you to have the best stay possible). We all enjoyed the large yard complete with tether ball, two tier decking, great furniture for dining, relaxing settee and chairs for reading, and even a new hammock! There is a large mud room with a few exercise items, croquet set, large stock of beach towels and desk with printer/fax. There were six of us and two children. We all had tons of bedroom space, lots of bathrooms with showers, and stocked full of linens. They also had a Pac-n-play and new high chair which came in handy. We also took advantage of the great laundry room, stocked with all laundry products, as with the two little ones we had an occasion to use it. We all decided, at the end of our stay, that we would definitely rent from Alan and Allison again.
We recently stayed in this beautifully decorated, well appointed home during the week of July 4. There were 6 adults, 5 children including an infant. The families with children stayed in the main house and my parents stayed in the guest cottage.
We had a wonderful comfortable experience. The house had everything you can possibly need for a week in Harbor Springs. From all of the little items in the kitchen, down to the beach towels and beach chairs in the garage, this house has been the most well appointed house we have vacationed in. We had a 4 month old with us on our vacation and were very happy to discover a high chair so that she may enjoy meals with the big people inside and out. My children loved the bean bag chairs in the bunk room and we made use of the inflatable bed as well. The linens and towels were all fresh, clean and soft. The furniture is well taken care of and clean.
As far as the location goes, we were amazed to walk down one short street to discover the beautiful views of the Bay. Each one of our family members enjoyed walks into Harbor Springs for early morning coffee, Farmers Market, shopping or after dinner to Toms Moms cookies or Yummies Ice Cream.
We also like the proximity to such locations as Petoskey, Boyne and Charlevoix. Our family even took day trips to Mackinac Island and over the Mackinac Bridge to St. Ignace.
Allison was so easy to get a hold of via email or text and was there to answer any question or concern that we had before and during our stay.
I would not hesitate to stay here again. My family had such a wonderful week and were very sad to see it end. Thank you!
When you stay here it feels like you are staying in a friend's house. It is the best appointed house we have stayed in and that's quite a statement. Every possible detail has been looked after. Kitchen is completely equipped . Home office room with printer, desk, and office accessories. Hair dryers in all baths, wooden hangers in all closets, plenty of towels, full rack of wine glasses, I could go on and on. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, and so much room both inside and out.
Alan and Allison go out of their way to make the time spent in this house so easy to enjoy!
The location is great. Half block walk to the Bluff Drive view and just a minute or two drive to everything in Harbor Springs. It is a very quiet street and area. We all slept so well every night with the windows wide open.
We highly recommend this house.
We needed a place in Harbor for our family to gather for the holidays, and this house really pulled through for us. Much larger than it appears online, with beautiful updates throughout, the house exceeded our expectations in just about every way. My 2 brothers and I all brought our families, and there was plenty of sleeping space for all 6 adults and 4 kids -- including a cozy guest cottage where my newlywed brother and his wife could escape our toddler racket. The living and dining room areas are huge and open-plan, connecting to the kitchen via a large island that became the focal point of our family gatherings throughout our stay. The kitchen is large and very functional, with all the cooking and cleaning gadgets you'd expect. If I had to point out a shortfall to the house, it would be that the bathrooms are small, but that's really a function of the fact that this is at its core an old Harbor Springs cottage; the work that has gone into additions and updates over the years has really improved the livability of the space while preserving its original charm. Outside, the house has an enormous deck and backyard looking out onto a wooded creekbed -- so that, in addition to room for kids to play football, you get a good sense of the Michigan north woods, even though you're in town.
Geographically, if you're looking to be in town, you can't really beat this location. The house is up on the bluff overlooking the harbor and Little Traverse Bay, and while it's a short block back from the bluff itself (any closer and the rent would have to go way up), there is a partial water view from the master bedroom, and you only have to walk about 30 seconds to see the whole panorama -- easily one of the best harbor views in the country. The neighborhood is upscale and quiet, easily within walking distance to downtown, although you do need to be ready to climb back up the bluff. Needless to say, from Harbor you have great access to skiing, hiking trails, beaches, boats, golf, shops and restaurants in Petoskey, etc.
The owners were very thoughtful and went out of their way to make sure we would be comfortable -- from putting up holiday decorations to having a good stash of coffee ready for us on arrival. We couldn't have been happier with this house and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
