Our mini-vacation at this property was far more than we could have asked for! The location is absolutely wonderful and only minutes from town, which served perfectly for my husband who spent most of his time fishing. The private beach front is to die for and is only steps from the property as described. The home was very clean and well-maintained, and the property owner was beyond friendly and helpful when needed. We will most definitely be back again soon!
My husband and I had a great birthday trip to this cute cottage on Lake Ontario! It was perfect for what we needed and was right on the edge of the lake for great views and sunsets! Less than 1 mile down the dirt road of Rainbow Shores was a great restaurant, also right on the Lake's edge - we ate there both nights and enjoyed the food and views! We also had a great day of fishing on Salmon River. This was a perfect location and we plan on coming back! Thank you Debbie & Mike for sharing your Aunt Nan's camp with us!
The cottage was ok, minimalistic but fine. The staircase to the water is broke in two and in desperate need of repair. The top concrete part is hanging partially freely, unsupported in the air and could break off any moment. I am sure it must not be legal to rent the place out as it is. There is no railing down there but a thin rope. Plus nobody told us about the situation even after knowing that we arrive with 2 children. And the broken staircase to the water in disrepair is clearly very dangerous.
There were 2 broken chairs on the patio which we could not use but just ignored them and made due, but I should have taken a picture beforehand since after the stay I get a message from the owner on my phone:
"What the heck happened to my chairs out on the deck. Both are ripped. It had to take a great deal of force to rip those chairs. Please explain."
Which I thought was very rude. A simple and respectful: I noticed two chairs are ripped, did that happen to you? or something like that would have been enough.
Furthermore there was no service from the rental party through VRBO. I did not get any questions answered, did not even know the address and how to get into the house. Luckily I found the phone number of the owner who could tell us where to go and how to get in.
The price includes also a hefty cleaning fee and damage deposit (which took 10 days to be refunded back). So with service fee and taxes you end up paying way way more than advertised.
Also be aware of the owner on the left side of the property facing the ocean. She is clearly annoyed by the renters and will approach you to find out as soon as you arrive to ask you when you are leaving and tell you to make sure you stay off her property.
The place was ok for us but the lack of service and unfriendliness unfortunately ruined a big part of the stay for us.
Three friends and I spent a weekend at Debbie and Mikes place near Pulaski. It was a wonderful property. You are right on the water with an unobstructed view of Lake Ontario, you can see the lake perfectly in the house. I saw the best sunset of my life there. The deck is awesome (looks very new), as is the grassy knoll in front of it. The inside was larger than I was expecting, which was a nice surprise, and it was very well renovated. This would be a perfect place for 4 to 6 close friends who don't care much about privacy. It's pretty secluded from the surrounding homes. Not mentioned in the ad is a chiminea and a fire pit on the property. The one thing I would improve about the property is the kitchen items. I would without a doubt come back here again if I wasn't moving to a different part of the country soon.
We were looking for a relaxing romantic getaway and this place could not have been better. Clean and comfortable, reasonably priced, fully equipped, close enough to the world for essentials but far enough away to forget it all. And the lake... right outside the door.. wow!! The sunsets and stargazing were unforgettable - especially from a canoe paddled well away from shore. Thanks Debbie and Mike for a perfect vacation spot!
We had a wonderful week at this cottage. It was everything we expected and the owner was easy to deal with and very pleasant and accommodating. We would definitely stay again.
