This idyllic five-bedroom mansion in the heart of Cartagena’s Old Town is beautifully but simply decorated, allowing the natural structure and intricate setting to take center stage. The furnishings are elegant, a combination of rustic, clean cut and neutral colored pieces accompanied by white stucco walls, exposed brick, high wood beamed ceilings and ornate tile floors making for a truly charming space.
One of the most notable features of the home is the tranquil interior garden and pool area that provide an oasis in the middle of the bustling streets of the city. A spacious, covered patio decked out with wicker patio furniture, loungers and a fire pit, lead to the sparkling lap pool. The luscious, verdant garden area surrounds the pool and expands the outside square perimeter of the middle of the home and features peaceful areas to rewind and kick back after a day in the hot sun.
Back inside are the five bedrooms all featuring ensuite bathrooms. Three have double beds while the other two have two twin beds. Each are minimalist, but roomy and extremely comfortable and make the perfect place to retreat after a long day of city exploring.
Located in Cartagena’s historic center, this lovely property is perfect for sightseeing and getting a glimpse of the best colonial architecture in the city. Great restaurants and bars are within walking distance.
I stayed at Candil, an amazing home, with a group of my friends a few months ago and had an incredible trip. The location within the walled city is walking distance to dozens of restaurants and activities. If possible, I would give the caretakers of the house more than five stars. They were very welcoming and provided all of us with an excellent breakfast each morning. I highly recommend this property for a group of couples.
