Functional and fine.

  • 3 of 5

Overall a fine property. This is a ground level apartment with a house above it. The two levels are connected by a flight of stairs. There is a door at the top of the stairs that locks with a handle lock. The kitchen is adequately stocked and cleaned. Reasonable dining area with a twin bed to one side. Living room with two couches and a TV. Single bedroom is comfortable. Single bathroom is adequate with a shower/tub combo. Outdoor seating area is a nice option for warm weather and affords a nice view of the town. Parking is a bit tricky...there is a dedicated parking spot by the entrance to the house but it requires backing out of it through a small driveway. I generally thought the price was high for what this apartment is but it seems in line with the expensive lodging overall in this area.

What an amazing view!

  • 5 of 5

We simply had a great night appreciating the city from atop a hill. It was easy to pop into town for some exploring and dinner being just a few blocks away. It was a perfectly sized space for us and our two weary dogs on a long road trip.

Really nice place. Great location for driving Paradise Valley and Yellowstone Park.

  • 4 of 5

Really nice accommodation.. Plenty of room, nicely furnished, wonderful views from the large patio. Great for reading, dining and just watching the ever changing sky. Only drawback was noisy if upstairs occupants were walking around. Owners were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this property to friends.

Good food from Montana Chop House. 15 mins away is a really gourmet Yellowstone Valley Grille. Right on the River. Beautiful location. Worth the ride for sure.

Vacation without sleep

  • 1 of 5

Whatever remodel the owner was doing wasn't complete. the floor upstairs creaked with every step the upstairs renters took. It was so loud we couldn't get to sleep until they did, and we're awakened as soon as they arose. There were ants in the bathroom. No screens on the windows meant we couldn't have the windows open. Someone before us had - there were bugs in the light fixtures. We weren't warned that trains went through town all night, honking their horns and waking us up. There were holes in the walls and ceiling. There was a mattress cover on the bed that crinkled. When it rained, drips from the deck above kept the motion sensor light shining in the windows. The fridge needed repair and the unit's heater didn't works. The view was nice.

Owner's Response: Sam and Patty, I am very sorry your stay in our apartment was not up to your expectation. The creaking floors above can be annoying when your are trying to sleep. We are working on insulating and soundproofing the space between the floors this winter. I know that does not help your experience, but I appreciate your feedback. We have decided not to rent the apartment when we have guest above until we can soundproof. As for the un-screened windows, we have no mosquitoes in Montana as the cool mountain nights prevent them from breeding, and flies are only a problem in the fall season when the flies are looking for a winter home. The apartment is air conditioned with a powerful fan when cooling is not needed. We love the refreshing mountain breezes that refresh the apartment, even if we have to swat an occasional fly. But, again I am sorry as it is your preference that in the end counts. Livingston is a railroad town with a rich historical background based on the railroad opening up Yellowstone park and the Northern route to the west. It still has trains and some do come through at night. Obviously, we have not control over them. The motion sensor that automatically lights up the apartment's patio turns off with the switch at the entrance door. I will add that to data sheet we provide. This is not a rebuttal, Sam and Patty, as your experience is what, in the end, counts. I am truly sorry. I cannot change the past, but I am using your feedback to improve the experience for future guest.

very comfortable, clean, good location

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Montana Garden apartment. It was just as described in the VRBO rental site. The inside was very comfortable, clean and had new updates. The two things that concerned us were the outside appearance when we arrived, it needs to be cleaned up and landscape trimmed as first appearances mean a lot. The second is the upper floor squeaks a lot and is very annoying at night when watching TV or sleeping for those in the lower level as this is where the apartment is located. Over all we enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Jim
