Overview

Asheville Area House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Den, Sleeps 8 in Beds (King, Queen, 4 Twin)

Round Mountain Lodge, a charming mountain home perched above Lake Jocassee on the edge of Gorges State Park, provides an amazing retreat from life's hectic pace. It is only 2 miles from 'The Wilds Camp and Conference Center' and Georges State Park, Frozen Creek access.

Set on the south side of Round Mountain between the quaint mountain towns of Brevard (17 miles) and Lake Toxaway, Round Mountain Lodge is not simply a house in the mountains, but a ''mountain home.''

The main living area boasts a cathedral ceiling and mountain views from a bank of south-facing windows. The fireplace, dressed in floral tapestry, dominates the living area. Warm wood graces interior walls. The downstairs bedroom holds a king sized bed; another large upstairs room boasts a comfy queen. All bedrooms have down comforters. The Bunk Room holds two sets of bunk beds, making Round Mountain Lodge the ideal lodging choice for two families who wish to vacation together.

The den, home to twin trundle beds, contains family games, puzzles and media equipment. Children can watch a DVD or satellite TV while adults share conversation in the quiet of the living area. Peruse the books in the ''Loft Library'' or venture onto the rock outcropping below to explore, enjoy the outdoors or make s'mores in the fire pit.

Watch the fog roll up the mountains from the porch swing. Discover one of six waterfalls within walking distance to the Lodge. All ingredients for the perfect mountain retreat are found amidst the tranquility and mountain splendor of the Blue Ridge Escarpment.

One of only 40 homes on the 1200 acres on Round Mountain, the Lodge boasts spacious rooms, comfortable and ample furnishings, and amenities that define it as a home rather than a ''rental unit''. This beautifully decorated home is amply supplied with accoutrements for the perfect mountain get-away. In any season, Round Mountain Lodge will call you back again and again.

Relaxing weekend; great mountain view!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a mountain cabin where we could relax and get away for the weekend. We also wanted to find a place we could bring our sweet dog. This cabin was excellent. The cabin is located in a very quiet area. The views from the back porch were excellent! You are still close enough to Brevard to make the short drive for dinner and a beer! Can't wait to go back!!

Wonderful and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful family vacation at the cabin! Everything was very clean and the views off the back porch were incredible! Our children absolutely loved hiking around the house and swinging on the tire swing! They also enjoyed playing air hockey and board games in the basement. Our family enjoyed family hikes around the property and met some of the very friendly neighbors . We will definitely stay here again soon!

Secluded Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and our dogs loved this home! It is very secluded, which we loved. The home is super organized and has a homey feel. The owners were super accessible for any issues leading up to our stay. The screened in porch was where we spent the majority of our time! The only downside was that the water in the shower never got very warm.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. We are always glad to hear that our guests enjoyed their stay at our mountain home. We do wish you had called us about the water temperature. Someone must have turned down the temp on the hot water heater. When it's set at the typical setting the water is actually very hot. Thanks again and we're happy that all else was as good as you mentioned.

Wonderful Escape to the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

As newlyweds on our honeymoon, David and Julie were very accommodating, and their property is amazing. They even went the extra mile and left a bottle of champagne in the fridge for us, with a very nice card. That sort of hospitality surprised us both.

As far as the property, it has a homey feel to it, with a fireplace, quilts, and lots of cushions and pillows. The decorations really made us feel like home, and the view of the mountains is very relaxing. The house is very open, bringing one closer to nature. My wife started her days by drinking a cup of coffee on the screened-in porch swing and looking out at the surrounding mountains. The owners left a book with detailed instructions and directions, and even mapped out where every item could be found in the kitchen. We did not get a chance to meet the neighbor Walter, but it's comforting to know someone is nearby if we needed help with anything.

I'm jealous of their back yard. A large outcropping with cave-like features, lots of trees, and a slope made for a unique experience. I sat on a large rock with a glass of wine, and it was a great way to watch a mountain sunset. There's also plenty of trails nearby, including a rather rigorous mountain hike down to Rock Creek Falls, which isn't for the faint of heart. Brevard, our favorite town in the U.S. (we're from Florida), is 20 minutes up the road, and the home is in driving distance of other great towns like Highlands, Cashiers, and Waynesville. Lots of great restaurants in Brevard, too. Our personal favorites are Mayberry's for lunch sandwiches, and Falls Landing (reservation recommended) and Square Root (excellent food) for dinner. Great ambiance and candlelight dinners. If you visit in the fall, be sure to drive up NC-215 or Hwy 64 for excellent views of foliage and roadside waterfalls.

David and Julie made sure we had a very relaxing, comfortable stay. We felt at home, and we can't recommend their home enough for the fellow traveler. We were very impressed and enjoyed our honeymoon! Highly recommend! Thanks again Julie and David!!!

Great fall weekend

  • 5 of 5

Great house in a secluded mountain location outside Brevard. The house was very well stocked and as advertised on VRBO. We enjoyed a great hike to Rainbow falls nearby in Gorges State Park and beautiful sunsets and sunrises from the screened-in porch. The owners had very detail instructions for everything, making it easy to settle in and enjoy our stay. Plenty of room for two couples.
