Arsenal Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Amazing Location!

The quintessential Parisian apartment!

We bought this apartment in October 2013 and, since then, it has undergone a complete and entire renovation and redecoration. The chestnut-coloured wooden beams dating from the 17th century have been stripped back, cleaned and exposed to accentuate the traditional charm of the neighbourhood. Natural light from the two floor-to-ceiling windows floods into the salon area and is enhanced and reflected by an enormous mirror above the sofa. The use of grey, white, black and bronze against the wood lend the apartment a calm Nordic air, and the buttoned bed head and designer Pierre Frey curtains add a luxurious finish.

Original stone tiles were chosen for the backsplash in the kitchen, set against white wooden cupboards. In the bathroom, pearly reflective wall tiles are used to make the room seem large and bright, and I chose a Parisian style bathroom sink with chrome legs to add a vintage look to the small space. There is a large chrome heated towel rail in the bathroom to maximise your comfort during your stay, (perfect for heating up your bath robe!). We supply fluffy towels, bathrobes, liquid soap and a hair dryer in the bathroom.

The fittings in the apartment have been chosen carefully, to maximise comfort and to optimise space. Honey-coloured 'Pointe d'Hongrie' wooden floorboards were laid in the living room and bedroom to reflect the natural light, and the walls were painted bright white to accentuate the luminosity of the apartment. Modern design classics were chosen to furnish the space, such as the “Eames” style white dining chairs, the vintage black “Grasshopper floor lamp” designed in 1948, and the Danish-style pearl grey upholstered sofa.

The open kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, dishwasher, four hot plates, microwave, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer and everything needed for cooking. The metal-style work top, modern chrome appliances and custom made white wooden cabinetry offer you something that is rare in small spaces in Paris - a complete kitchen, equipped to allow you to make delicious French meals in your own apartment!

The apartment is in a beautiful 17th century building, and you will be charmed by the original beams in the entrance and the cream coloured post boxes. Set high above street level with a sunny and open view over a tranquil and pretty courtyard, the apartment has a luminous ambiance thanks to the three meter high ceilings and two floor-to-ceiling windows. The apartment is quiet and peaceful – you would never know that you were in the epicentre of Paris here!

The apartment (25 square metres, 258 square feet), has a main area for living and dining, plus a bedroom and en-suite bathroom. There is a double bed and storage for your clothes. Between the impressively large French windows is the perfect spot for breakfast or dinner at your own dining table. Opposite your sofa is the wall mounted flat screen television, along with high speed WIFI and telephone.

Situated on the third floor, and reached by a wide wooden staircase, this apartment, in common with many historic properties in the Marais, has no elevator. The apartment has an intercom.

This charming apartment is perfect for a couple or a single traveller who want to enjoy the lively buzz of the Marais but to return to their own private and cosy haven at the end of each day.

Guests will have access to the full apartment and will be able to feel like a local in Paris. They will be given a set of keys and explained how everything works and where to put their trash. The apartment is on the 3rd floor of a typically Parisian 17th century building. Please note that there is no elevator.

The Marais offers all of the thrills of Paris with the charm of its past clearly visible in the original shop fronts, delightful old buildings and small winding streets. If you don't know the Marais already, you will fall in love with this neighbourhood! Discover the gorgeous boutiques on the Rue des Francs Bourgeois, sip a coffee on a sunny terrace right next to the apartment and wander through the stunning Place des Vosges. The Marais neighbourhood is also home to many sights: the Picasso museum, the Musée Carnavalet, the European House of Photography and the Bastille (with its excellent produce market), l'Ile Saint Louis, Notre Dame, the Centre Georges Pompidou and the river Seine itself. All of these are just a few minutes walk away! From this incredible location you can walk to many Parisian sites, gardens and museums. If you prefer to take public transportation, there are many metro lines and buses that come through the area and there is a taxi rank just steps away from the front door.

Place des Vosges is a truly amazing location. On a sunny day, you can literally walk out the door and enjoy a French breakfast on the square. There will be children playing in the sand, teenagers splashing water from the fountain, and couples lying on the grass, reading the newspaper. Amorino, the famous Italian ice cream shop, is just around the corner.

Historically, Le Marais (the marsh) is the aristocratic district of Paris. It homes many outstanding buildings of architectural importance, such as Hôtel de Sens and Hôtel de Sully, and religious institutions (Temple, Couvent des Blancs Manteaux, Agoudas Hakehilos Synagogue...).

Ongoing exhibitions and art shows are just on your doorstep: Centre Pompidou-Beaubourg, Musée Carnavalet, Jewish History Museum, MEP (Maison Européenne de la Photographie).

Place de la Bastille is a stone's throw away from the apartment, so you can easily take a stroll to the Modern Opera or to the cinema (a great selection of both mainstream and arty movies) on a snowy Winter Sunday or a late Summer night.

Le Marais is also a very convenient place to stay due to the large number of grocery stores and restaurants, wonderful bakeries and wineries, cheese and honey specialists, bars, cafés and brasseries, all a few minutes' walk away from your apartment.

Here, you are in the epicentre of Paris. It couldn't be easier to get to the apartment from the airport. You can either catch a cab, or take the RER B to Châtelet-Les Halles and then Line 1 to Bastille or St Paul. Both metro stations are right next to the apartment.

If you are coming by Eurostar, it is even easier: you can take the direct metro (line 5) to Bastille! The metro lines 1, 8 and 5 (Bastille, St Paul, Chemin Vert) are less than a 5 minute walk away.

If you prefer to rent a bike, there are also plenty of Velib points very near the apartment.

Beautiful Condo, Well Appointed & Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful condo. The owner was easy to work with, greeted us on arrival (despite our delayed flight) and was quick to respond to any issues. The condo is in a great neighborhood and is easy walking distance to many cafe's, pastisseries, grocery stores and the metro. We would definitely stay here again on a return trip to Paris.

Cozy and romantic Marais apartment

  • 5 of 5

Our trip to Paris was made more special by staying in this comfortable, cozy and well-equipped apartment. The location couldn't have been any better - close to the people-watching cafes at the Bastille, the beautiful and ancient Marais streets, many boulangeries and patisseries and convenient to the Metros. The weekend markets at the Bastille were an unexpected surprise. The owners were helpful and hospitable.

The flat was perfect, the location was great!

  • 5 of 5

The flat was perfect, and included every household item you'd need for your stay. I enjoyed the location, so close to the Metro stop, the grocery store, Place des Vosges and an easy walk to Notre Dame.

Rosie was great to work with when I was looking for a place to rent. The day I arrived she had croissants, bottled water already in the flat. I recommend renting this flat for your stay in Paris. -- Cate

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

This apartment, is located in one of our favourite parts of Paris, Place des Vosges area. Because it is located down a courtyard off the Rue des Tournelles, it is exceptionally quiet, in spite of being in a very lively neighborhood.

Easy access to the metro station, Place de la Bastille, one block away. This quite small apartment itself is as good as the pictures show. Well equipped kitchen, brand new laundry facilities, beautifully decorated and comfortable, this is a place you could spend a wonderful stay. The welcome was warm, the place was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable. In short, a perfect base for a short Paris stay. Definitively to be recommended.

Wonderful Place

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were delighted with this accommodation. Rosie met us and orientated us to the apartment and reviewed the comprehensive binder she provides regarding the suite, restaurants, markets, etc. in the area. There were croissants and a bouquet of roses in the apartment when we arrived. The suite was very clean and bright and tastefully decorated. It was quiet and the area perfect for walking to so many amazing historic sights, markets, bakeries, a large grocery store, parks and restaurants.

The day after the taxi strike when we were leaving Rosie and Lynne provided us with helpful information and assistance in the event that we would not be able to hail a taxi to the airport.

Yes there were fifty plus steps up a circular stairway to the apartment but we would highly recommend this property. We felt safe and comfortable and Rosie provided us with exceptional service.
