Our home, built by a renowned architect, is a retreat from the excitement and noise of the city, yet only a 20 minute walk or quick bus ride to the center. The house is 1/2 block from walking trails and a few blocks from a lovely reservoir/park in La Presa. The beautiful gardens can be seen from every room. Three bedrooms and two and a half baths can accommodate three couples or a family of four. Not recommended for safety reasons for young children. Kitchen is a chef's dream, large and well equipped. Office has internet and large workspace. Small study with fireplace provides cozy area and larger living room looks outonto an atrium adorned with plants. Upstairs master bedroom has fireplace, dressing area, private bathroom with shower and tub. Two smaller guestrooms share bathroom with shower. Three terraces look out upon the gardens making a delightful setting for a meal or a drink.
Larry is a geologist who has traveled the world in search of precious metals; I have had the good fortune to accompany him on many of his adventures. We spent many years in Bolivia, moving an indigenous town so that a mine could be built. If this upsets you (as it did me), please read our book, 'The Gift of El Tio,' which will introduce us in greater depth.Larry's hobbies include painting and writing, and mine, gardening and rowing. Having studied early childhood, I worked as a mental health counselor/consultant for many years in clinics and in schools and still seek experiences working with children.
Karen Gans purchased this house in 2010
Upon opening the green door to the property, you will be enchanted with the gardens. A quiet, cool retreat from the busyness of the city, it is always a delight to return home and the reason we could not resist this property. It's truly unique! Designed by a local renowned architect, this home is truly an artistic creation to admire.
Prepare a meal in our magnificent kitchen, a cook's delight. Relax with views of the garden from any room in the house or enjoy a drink on any one of the terraces. Radiant floor heating keeps you warm in our chilly winters and a retractable dome on the atrium allows cool breezes in the warmer weather. Two fireplaces create a cozy atmosphere.
The property is located in a very quiet area. Most friendly and helpful property manager ever. Couldn't have been more sweet, giving me directions to local restaurants and shows I was attending along with a helpful map. Everything about the house was exceptional, and I don't give praise lightly. It was clean, stylish, roomy in an excellent location. The rental property was beyond good and great value for money and Karen (the owner) was very attentive and responded to all my emails and concerns. The house itself was well equipped and comfortable. I could go on but suffice it to say I was very pleased with my stay, and although short and sweet this time, I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future. Thank you,
The Gamino family
The property is great... secluded from the bustle of town, with lots of room within. The arrangement and construction are high quality and everything works as you would expect. The house is clean and comfortable. The location is great too. Light shopping and access to hiking trails just outside the door, restaurants are a five minute walk, and attractions of this beautiful city are a 25 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride away.
The home and gardens were designed by an architect with an understanding of Mexico and an eye for detail. We had a wonderful time and particularly enjoyed preparing meals in the kitchen. The local property manager was responsive. We would rent this property again.
Simply the nicest house we have ever rented through the vacation home sites.
The pictures in no way convey the size or quality of this home. And it is a home,
tastefully designed and furnished to be lived in. We are long time travelers to Guanajuato and familiar with the "bumps" that could have been encountered. There were none - the neighborhood is amazingly quiet, the access reasonable (no pack mule needed), and the management available and attentive. Not sure I should even be writing this review as this is one I would like to have kept as our personal little secret!
Great location, close to downtown but far enough away that you can kick back and relax. The kitchen is amazing, and it has all the utensils you'd need -- not just the basics like at most vacation homes. The appliances and cookware are high-quality stuff.
The house is absolutely gorgeous. It is tastefully decorated, spacious, and the architectural details everywhere are stunning. It is spacious as well, with lots of indoor and outdoor common spaces where you can spend time with friends and family. If I travel to Guanajuato again, I will stay here for sure.
