About George

Fran and I are both in the aviation industry, and plan on spending more time down here when we retire. We have kids and grandkids that love to come down here and enjoy Nana and Pops beach house.

George purchased this cottage in 2010

Why George chose Florida Panhandle

George had to work down here several years ago, and we fell in love with the beautiful views, slow pace, and friendly atmosphere. We live in Atlanta and try to get down here every long weekend that we can. Now we have our own place right here on the beach that we would like to share with 'Yall'.

What makes this cottage unique

First and formost you will enjoy the view. You can wake up or fall asleep listening to the waves and actually see the water from bed that is less than 100 yards away. Then you will enjoy the fun, friendly, slower paced atmosphere of Mexico Beach. We love morning walks, and sunset strolls on the beach. There are several beach pubs and resturants that are within walking distance, or short ride. You can fish right on the beach in front of the house, go down to the pier, or go out for a 1/2 or full day fishing charter. Or you can go for a bike ride around Mexico Beach. (Bike, fishing polls, beach chairs and umbrellas are all furinshed with the cottage.) Within 30 minutes you can be in Appalacheecola bay, Cape Sand Blas, or Panama City. Scalloping is also fun when in season. You can also enjoy some of the worlds best oysters in this area.

Southern hospitality at its best.

  • 5 of 5

The home was just as it was advertised with amazing unobstructed views of the ocean. Very clean with everything available that we needed for our stay. The owner was very friendly and went out of his way to help us with our stay and needs while we were there. I would return to this home time and again and recommend it to anyone looking to stay in this area. I took advantage of one of the bikes and some of the beach items while there as well. Not having to rent these things was also a huge plus! I give this house 5 stars plus!

Owner's Response: Libby.... Thank you for the nice review. I try to treat all my guest as personal friends. What ever I can do to make their stay (with-in reason...LOL) I try to do. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay, and the wonderful laid back atmosphere of Mexico Beach. We look forward to your next stay, and tell your friends about us. We also have a Condo in the area that is available. Have a great summer.... Again Thank you

The Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This home is clean, comfortable and well equipped. I would definitely stay here again. It has a great Florida room for watching sunsets or relaxing with a good book or a drink. It is directly across the street from the beach, where you can shell, fish, stroll or relax. Mexico Beach is quieter than many other resort towns but has some great local dining, interesting local shops and charter boat rentals. But mostly it is about beach time with none of the tourist-trap-type extras.

Cozy vacation home in beautiful location

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Isle of View. The home has plenty of amenities in the kitchen and for the beach, and has a beautiful view of the ocean that can be enjoyed regardless of weather from the porch. The house is clean and comfortable. Mexico Beach is a great little town and everyone we encountered was friendly.

There was somewhat more traffic on the highway than we were expecting (at least one car every 10 seconds, and quite a few logging trucks). It wasn't a problem for us, but it was a bit noisier than we anticipated.

Peaceful Floridian Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Staying in this old Floridian cottage was relaxing and peaceful. The cottage itself was very clean and offered any and all amentities you need. It did not have a dishwasher but this was part of the old Floridian cottage charm. I loved the screen/glassed-in patio to enjoy beautiful sunsets and enjoy my morning coffee or to take naps in the chase lounge. The Hwy. 98 traffic could sometimes be distractful but the view certainly made up for that small inconvenience. Easy short walk to the beautiful, uncrowded beaches. We walked it almost every night. Beach chairs, bicycles, and beach umbrellas are all included for your convenience. This is a very safe, serene and beautiful area. Convenient to other areas of interests we enjoyed within 10 to 20 miles distance if you have a car; Apalachicola, St. George Island, Cape San Blas, & Port St. Joe. We covered all areas as we were looking into areas to retire. Thank you George & Fran for opening up your home and allowing us to call it our "home away from home" while exploring the area. We loved spending our week & half time off from the hectic world in your oasis. Thank you for your hospitality!

Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

Lovely beach cottage, very clean, all amenities provided, clear instructions which all led to a wonderful four days. We were unfortunately there during a rare red tide the first two days, but Mexico Beach is close to other wonderful spots to visit (Apalachicola, state parks) and we were VERY impressed with the town's cleanup of the beach within the first day of relief. Beach access is very close, just across the low-traveled two-line highway. Killer Seafood will keep us coming back, and we know where we'll stay. If you're looking for peace and quiet, beautiful sunsets, a couple of fantastic restaurants, this is your place. Great value.
