NESKOWIN: This quaint village features a beautiful beach in the shelter of Proposal Rock. Commercialism is limited to the Neskowin Marketplace Deli/Grocery, the excellent Hawk Creek Cafe, a 9-hole golf course, a riding stable (summers only) and an art gallery. Neskowin is 10 miles north of Lincoln City and 30 miles from the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
PACIFIC CITY: A few miles north of Neskowin, this former sleepy fishing village is coming to life with shops, galleries and several excellent restaurants. Year-round horseback riding and fishing charters are available by appointment. The beach at Cape Kiwanda is home of the dory fleet and offers tidepools and 300-foot dunes for climbing.
I stayed with my family last weekend at this house. All I can say is WOW! It is a gorgeous place with one of the best views on the Oregon Coast! Unlike a lot of homes where you look over other houses to see the ocean, this place is front row with 180 degrees view of the Pacific! The house is appointed with luxury and everything is new, which is difficult to find in many rental homes at the coast. We took an Ocean fishing charter out of Depoe Bay on Saturday and caught an abundance of Lingcod and Rockfish. Thank you for the chance to stay here. We will definitely be back!
We just spent five days at this beach house and were extremely happy with it. Very nice amenities, fantastic view from both the main floor and the lower living room (and one bedroom). The path to the beach was longer and a bit more arduous than expected. Some of it is walking on planks through rather thick follage. The beach is extremely private and flat, and really enjoyable once you get there. I don't recommend walking on the path in the dark though so no evening beach walks, at least for us.
Because I think it's helpful, I'm going to detail the amenities of the house. We were three adult couples and two kids (12 and 14). The three bedrooms with very comfortable queen beds were ideal. There was a sofa bed for the kids but it was broken (the pull out part). The property management company promptly brought over a twin rollaway bed so one used that while the other slept on the couch. It worked out very well. The bedrooms are nicely sized, with dressers so clothes could be unpacked. The master suite is on the main floor and has a slider door to the balcony. The main floor living room has a side door to the same balcony. The master bath has a really nice shower and separate jacuzzi tub. A couple of our party enjoyed jetted baths.
The kitchen is really nice, with granite countertops and just about every kind of utensil/pan you could ask for. We used two large glass casserole dishes during our stay. There's a coffee pot and an expresso machine, and a coffee grinder. Probably the only items missing that I needed was a good cheese grater (I brought one just in case) and a manual can opener. We had a little trouble using the electric can opener but once we figured it out, it was easy. We cooked all our meals and it was really nice for all eight of us to be able to sit down together. The only thing that would have been nice would have been an empty cupboard for us to put the non-refrigerated food stuff in that we brought.
The lower living room is really spacious and comfortable. There's a door leading out to a covered patio and open grassy area. The wet bar area made a great puzzle spot. The full bath on the lower level is nice sized, not tiny like so many second bathrooms are.
We loved our stay here and will likely try to stay here again in the future.
Loved this home! The master suite is on the main level which was perfect for my husband and his bad knee. The lower level accommodated our son's family quite well. We came to enjoy both family time and relaxation. We enjoyed having our morning coffee and tea on the deck, and were able to see and hear the surf (in the distance) from the deck. We were surprised to have one of the local deer scampered up between the house and the neighbors, and stroll across the neighbors lawn early one morning. Although we didn't venture down the path to the ocean, our son and his family went down daily to fly a remote control airplane, as well as walk on the beach. We would definitely return. We really had a great family vacation.
This house is absolutely inviting. We've always stayed in Lincoln City...and now, I'd rather stay in the quaint, Neskowin. Upon arrival, the house smelled great, was cleaned really well, and homey. I wish we hadn't of left! The views were amazing! The trail to the beach was delightful compared to the hundreds of sanding steps we were used to. The decor was tasteful, not too beachy and very modern, which I personally love. Our dogs loved hanging out on the deck and staring out the huge windows that overlooked the brush and coastline. Mist if all, I loved that there was only one TV...which forced us to finally relax and enjoy the world outside of crappy reality TV! I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again! Love love loved it. Thanks!
The house is beautiful and just as described! Very nice.
The walk to the beach was longer than described and a challenge. Very nice, pretty 10 minute walk, but the very steep slope was a challenge for one of our party. We would definitely stay here again, but it is good to note the slope for anyone bringing someone who would struggle with that part.
Thanks for a nice property!
Our Neskowin townhome was perfect for exploring the Oregon coastline! When we first arrived, my husband and I took the hike on Blue Heron Trail down the hill and across the border wetlands. We had the beach to ourselves (priceless) while we looked for sand dollars. Well - we did share it briefly with a young seal that scampered into the ocean once he saw us coming! The 3 bedrooms were very spacious and clean with super soft linens and towels. The downstairs big screen TV was great for watching the Olympics with our teenagers. The upstairs living room and eating area was flooded with natural light and gorgeous ocean views. The grandparents loved that for quiet reading and relaxing. The kitchen had everything that we needed to cook up a delicious dinner for everyone in the evenings. (We bought fresh tuna in Pacific city one night to cook!) Although the nearest full grocery store is 10 miles away in Lincoln, but we just stocked up the refrigerator on our first day and enjoyed our 4 day stay tremendously.
